"Come on, Kawaii-Kun, it can't be that hard to pick," Castiel said. He already had a chocolate brownie sundae in front of him, and was picking through his coins for something smaller than a Galleon. When Father had died, he'd left plenty behind to take care of his family, and Mother didn't understand not flashing your money around if you could help it.
He glanced over at Marius, his beloved Kawaii-Kun and best friend, and gave the boy a look as to say Hurry up! He wanted to eat before they had to find the Hogwarts Express. They were finally out of their parents' watchful gaze, and Castiel, for one, wanted to enjoy it.

Mari bounced on the balls of his feet as he peered into the case. His hands gripped the strap of a low slung bag that ended somewhere around his knees. Hanging from a bit of metal connecting the strap to the bag were clipped various things, such as a couple of small stuffed penguins and a few clinking keychains. A moment later he agreed to a decent size portion of Hippogriff Tracks in a cone that the man behind the counter made right before his eyes with a muggle style appliance.
"Patience is a virtue," he intoned, closing his eyes and wagging a half-gloved finger slightly in rhythm with his words. It was cold outside, but he didn't mind, it just meant he could wear gloves and a brightly colored scarf along with a beanie and his coat. "And I want to try yours, by the way," he added when he came up to the register and started fishing out money.

"I share my eyeshadow with you, you can have some of my sundae," Castiel said. He finally came up with the right change and pushed it across the counter, then gave an excited little smile as he picked up his treat. His mother would freak to know he was having a bowl of chocolate for lunch, but really, why buy whatever junk was on the train when he could have this?
He started to turn away and stopped again, eyes lighting on a sign. "Wi-Fi." he read. "Hey, Mari, that's computer stuff, isn't it?" Castiel couldn't help having absorbed some from his stepfather and his best friend, but more often than not, his hands got batted out of the way because he was so slow. He much preferred the feel of a heavy leather book with crisp pages.

Mari slid hair away from his face when he came up next to Castiel, tucking it behind his ear and beneath his beanie. He nodded as he took a bite of cold ice cream and warm cone. "Yep, I brought my netbook if you wanna try to figure out the start menu." He grinned and swept to the side, his keychain collection jingling merrily as he found his way to a table and folded himself into a chair.
He loved his friend dearly, but the poor guy still didn't quite have a good grasp of technology, though after so long he really should. He was incredibly glad his friend had decided to make the trip across the ocean with him and his family, as the thought of being away form him had sounded like something akin to torture.

Castiel pulled a face at his friend's back, but followed after at a clip. He slid into the seat next to Marius and set down his bowl, then dropped his bag on the floor. "Why would I play with the start menu when you have elouai?"
He worked his spoon deep into the edge of the bowl, hoping to get some of the brownie at the bottom into his first bite, and when he succeeded, he may as well have been mute for the next few minutes. If there was one thing the two both loved, it was their sweets.

Mari grinned and put his bag on the table, then fished out this netbook with his free hand and opened it on the table. It was a tiny thing, and though it had a black back on it it was covered in stickers, many of which matched pins and other things that were on his bag. "There," he said after a couple of minutes. He nudged the netbook toward his friend. "What kind of wizarding place has wifi?" Not that he was complaining.

Castiel shrugged, too absorbed in a mouthful of perfection to try thinking of an answer. He looked aside at Mari a moment before he swallowed, then scooted the netbook just a little more his way. Another bite, and his hands were free to poke around.
"I'ma use that cafe background in the three-hundreds," he said around his ice cream. "Kind of looks like Diagon Alley. Oh, and one of the HyoLee hairs." He could draw infinitely better than anything on the candybar, but it was a lot of fun making little cartoon people so easily.

"You play with this too much, Kurai-Kun," Mari claimed. His own nickname had been born of an easy tease from his friend and so naturally he had needed to come up with a nickname for Castiel to match. He reached over and swiped the spoon to get a taste of his friend's ice cream. "Diagon Alley is so much better than back home. It's at least three times as clean. I even saw a candy shop down the street."

Castiel's eyes widened in interest, and he swallowed the bite he'd taken just before his spoon was hijacked. "If they had a Sanrio store it'd be perfect, wouldn't it?"
He gave Marius a teasing smile, then reached over to pluck a hippogriff track directly out of his friend's cone. It was fair. "Sterling Style is in Hogsmeade!" Somehow he'd forgotten. He left his picture partially finished and dove for his bag, the outside of which was decorated with pins and dark-colored ribbons. He dug out a magazine and pushed the netbook toward the center of the table to make room.
"Riiiight... here!" The magazine was flipped open to an ad featuring a familiar blonde loosening a silk tie. "Mama wouldn't take me to the one in New York, and I know that's where Markise is, but still! It's the original Sterling Style! I'm going to buy something just to send it back to Cheyenne." If it was weird to leave your girlfriend to be with your best boy, it made perfect sense to him.

"You've gotta buy something for you, too," Mari said. "He's got all kinds of interesting things, doesn't he? Use up all your money in a week and write home begging for more." There was his tease. Mari wasn't hurting for money, but the move had been draining even if it was worth it for the new job. He elbowed his friend, grinning, and jabbed the spoon back into the ice cream before turning his attention back to his own. "A lot of these people are from Hogwarts, aren't they?" he asked, flipping over a page.

"Mhm." Castiel grabbed his spoon again, and got back to work. People at school never thought twice about talking with their mouths full, but he couldn't manage it without a hand covering the mess. "A lot are teachers," he managed. There were also two or three who were students. There was the guy in the pink shirt who did horoscopes sometimes, the media consultant, whatever that was, and the photographer who'd gotten his own article once.
"I might send some art in next month." Castiel looked aside at Marius with shining eyes. "They only seem to take stuff that's about Hogwarts, so that's got to be why they didn't print my drawing of Professor Prescott."

Mari laughed lightly, hiding behind his cone. "Well you can draw one of the infamous Blackwood-Hardts or something," he said. "You'll definitely get accepted, you're so much better than what's usually in there." He wasn't artsy in the traditional sense, though he enjoyed using little kits to create. Arts and crafts were things he had always liked and he was halfway decent at it as long as it included detailed directions.

"I want to meet Anonymous Ravenclaw," Castiel said. He didn't need to take the magazine back, because he'd talked about her more than enough. Everything she drew was good, and she always sent in poems, too.
All at once he seemed to remember Cheyenne. His eyes cleared, and he dug around his sundae a bit, looking for a cherry he'd lost in the whipped cream. "But yeah, I'll have to buy something for myself in Hogsmeade. We could even get our pictures taken and send them home." He gave Marius a smile, then picked up the cherry he'd uncovered and began sucking off the whipped cream.

"Pictures are fun!" Mari said. "Remember when John got that camera? He thought he was going to be some hot-shot photographer." Quite a few of the photos that had come from the "shoots" he had done had ended up with the mini people in the frame having to duck down for their heads to be in view. If he had anything to say about his friend's momentary lapse into daydreaming about a girl that was totally not his girlfriend, it went unspoken. "This guy's good, though." He jabbed a picture the man had taken.

"He is," Castiel agreed. "And he's pretty." And dark. Trent was the closest thing to goth that he'd seen in that magazine, though the ads for the ice cream shop had been all kinds of interesting. He'd sworn up and down that he'd lost his copy of the July issue just to get a spare, just for the ad in the classifieds. Not that the pictures he had of Cheyenne weren't good, but she hadn't gotten that naked for him.
