"Yeah, arithmancy totally isn't math. I mean, there's math in it, but completely different subject. Hyacinth, you'll catch up quick, I'm sure." The guy had age and maturity on his side, both of which would help him rush through the basic lessons.

Rhys came in and barely noticed the three boys past a glance, and he was at the counter before he realized one of them had a tablet. That stopped him in his tracks and he turned quickly. He absently dropped his bag of things on the countertop and stepped back toward the group, looking at the boy playing on the screen. "Is that yours?"

"It's mine," Indigo said, looking up. This had to be the Muggle techie, just by the gleam in his eyes. "It's the newest HP EliteBook." He threw out a few specs, including a couple extras he'd gotten. "You're not a Mac guy, are you?" he asked as an afterthought. If the guy was, he'd just wasted his breath, and he'd probably end up going back to the bookstore. Mac people were annoying.

Hyacinth had scooped Remiel up as soon as he saw the man heading toward them, and though the kitten protested being removed from her explorations of the rubber duck, she began purring softly immediately. He set her on his lap beneath the table and pulled a couple kitten treats out of his other pocket, hoping to keep her quiet.

Jory looked blankly at Indigo as he rattled off the list of things...whatever they were. What was a processor? And why did his computer have multiple rams in it? Muggle things were so weird sometimes.

"Definitely not," Rhys said. "Macs are for people that don't know how to work a computer or keep it safe, you know?" Macs don't get viruses. Yeah, well, neither did PCs if they were taken care of. "That's impressive. Oh, and don't worry about the kitten, as long as it doesn't go behind the counter we don't care," he added to the other boy.

Hyacinth looked up, eyes wide, and his hair, already a Remiel-like white with grey stripes, went pure white at being caught, even if he'd already been excused. It began to shift back towards a soft platinum blonde as he lifted Remiel to his chest to cuddle a bit. He was lost for the computer talk too, but he was perfectly happy shooting a look of relief at Jory.

Indigo smiled, both at the guy letting the kitten stay, and at his completely proper dismissal of Macs. "You're a Muggle, right?" he asked, since both Jory and Hyacinth were being quiet. Come to think of it, maybe he ought to just go talk to the guy for a while, and let Jory and Hyacinth talk. "People at school are saying you're a techie, and they don't even know what it means."

"Yeah, definitely," Rhys said, reaching over for a chair. Before he sat he pulled out his phone and set it on the table for the boy to look at. "I'm Rhys. Are you...what is it...muggle born?" He glanced around the table, thinking it safe to assume the other two didn't know what they were talking about. His attention was momentarily caught by the one's hair changing, but he was slowly getting more used to seeing magic being done.

"We are," Indigo said, gesturing between himself and Hyacinth. He made a quick introduction of the three of them before reaching for the smartphone. "This is sweet, my parents won't let me get one because electronics don't work at Hogwarts anyway." He'd refused to go anywhere without a computer, though. "I have to owl them once a week. I don't know how they explain it to the neighbors."

"Who knows," Rhys said, shrugging. "This thing must have cost a fortune." He reached out to lightly touch the corner of the tablet. "My computer is at my apartment, it's pretty top of the line, but I always kind of wanted one of these tablet PCs."

Indigo glanced toward the doors behind the counter. As much as he desperately wanted to see what a top of the line PC could do, he wasn't about to invite himself upstairs in a shop he'd just walked into. His mom would have an aneurysm, and he'd swear that she was a master of divination for all the stuff she found out.
"I had a pc at home, but it crapped out on me," he said. "I asked for a MacBook, but learned my lesson the hard way." It had been sleek and attractive, and gotten him some envy from people online, but he couldn't personalize the thing! Not to mention the lack of gaming.

"Yeah, I couldn't handle a Mac. They're way too expensive, and I like games, anyway. I mean I guess I wouldn't call myself a gamer, but I play enough to need a decent computer," Rhys said. Yes, he could talk about this stuff out in the muggle world whenever he wanted, but more and more of his time was spent in Diagon Alley and he craved the ability to talk about this kind of thing with someone that knew what he was talking about.

"So...you know what they're talking about?" Jory asked, leaning over a bit to speak to Hyacinth. He nudged the tablet over toward Rhys, who seemed about as excited to see the thing as he had been.

Hyacinth looked wide-eyed at Jory. "Ah... Mac is a kind of computer," he offered, though the initials p.c. meant nothing to him. He reached out to grab the duck and set Remiel back on the table. He and Jory might as well enjoy themselves while the other two talked about technology.
