Indigo had never been to Diagon Alley before, and so when Jory had said something about hanging out, about meeting a new kid, another Muggle-born, he'd suggested the new ice cream place. Maybe he'd been looking for an excuse to travel beyond Hogsmeade, but he'd admit to himself that something he'd heard about the shop appealed to him.
Wireless Internet.
The girls he'd overheard talking about it hadn't even known what they were describing, but he'd picked up on it immediately. One of the guys there was a techie, which, despite Cauldron's description as someone who liked to take things apart, was far more than that. A techie in the Wizard World. Hell yes, he was interested.
Jory had been interested in his computer, something another Muggle-born would be familiar with, and this way, he wouldn't have the girl at the book store hovering over his shoulder the whole time. He was sure that in an actual food service place, there would be a booth somewhere or a table against a wall, and they'd have a little privacy.
Not that he'd thought about it much, but here was a chance to have real guy friends. Jory's sexuality and whatever effeminate behaviors he had meant precisely nothing. Indigo had many female friends, none of whom he'd ever gotten anywhere with, and zero male friends.
So here he was, standing out front with his bag over one shoulder, waiting for Jory's prefect duties or whatever to end and for him to show up. He'd showed up a little early to look around and bought some things, and expected the other two any minute.

Jory hopped out of the Knight Bus, briefly thanking the driver, just outside of the Leaky Cauldron. He chatted absently with Hyacinth, pointing out various interesting things and people on their way to the ice cream shop. When he saw Indigo, he waved and smiled brightly, a slight bounce in his steps.
When was the last time he had hung out with anyone? It was a nice change of pace, to say the least. He only wished that he had the chance to do this kind of thing more often. He hoped that this could become a more regular thing. It would be so good to have friends again!
"Hey! So this is Hyacinth, and this is Indigo," he said, gesturing to each of them in turn.

"Hello, Indigo," Hyacinth said, raising a hand in greeting. "It is another interesting name, Indigo. You are Gryffindor, like Jory?" They were the brave ones, weren't they? It felt good to be in the company of the brave and the strong in a world that still boggled him. It was also nice to know that he wasn't a burden to Jory, and to find that they seemed to get along well together.

"Yeah, I don't know how, though," Indigo said. "Your name's pretty interesting, too. Hyacinth, isn't that like, a flower?" and was that an animal sticking out of the guy's pocket? He hardly heard the answer for trying to figure out what could be that small. A pygmy puff, maybe? He pulled his gaze up.
"Anyway, this place has Internet and I brought my laptop." He gave Jory a meaningful look, though he wouldn't begin to say anything in front of Hyacinth. He didn't typically talk about porn with real people to begin with, and couldn't quite recall how he and Jory had gotten onto the topic in the first place.

Jory's eyes widened and for a moment he regretted bringing Hyacinth. "That's cool," he managed after a moment. He hadn't thought much about the whole internet thing since talking to Indigo but that look flooded it all back into his mind. "I haven't been in here, I heard new people bought it a while ago? Is there a muggle-born or something?"

"A Muggle," Indigo said, keeping his voice low. "A wizard owns it, but I heard something about there being a Muggle, too. That's why the place is all fitted with electricity and Internet. I don't know a lot about him 'cause the girls just wanted to talk about the wizard being hot or something, but I know what I want to know." He also knew he might be coming to Diagon Alley regularly, especially if the Internet was free.

Hyacinth had some trouble following Indigo's words, his obviously American accent making holes in things, but he easily caught the word Muggle, and his lips parted in surprise. He didn't know how a wizard could be hot, unless he was sick, but it was far more likely that the word was slang. There was a Muggle, and Internet, and Indigo had a computer.
"You are from Muggles?" he asked, a bit breathless with excitement. He hadn't met any others in his brief time at Hogwarts.

Jory was instantly more curious about the new owner with that bit of information and turned to peek through the windows. He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it sticking in odd directions, before bringing his hands together in front of him as he thought, though he was brought back to the conversation by Hyacinth's words. "There are a lot of muggle-borns at school, everyone just kind of stays to themselves most of the time."

"Ah, that is strange," Hyacinth said. "I have much interesting at Hogwarts. I would talk to everyone, if there were not so many who are..." He paused, trying to think of the right word. He wanted to say rude, considering his meeting with that Slytherin girl, but it wouldn't do any good to say mean things. "Many who stay to themselves," he settled on, repeating Jory, since he had nothing better.

Indigo was quiet for a moment, trying to pick through Hyacinth's accent, and his halting speech. He was definitely not English, and he'd bet English wasn't even the guy's first language. He wasn't entirely sure how to deal with that, but he'd nodded at the guy's question. "We ought to go in," he suggested. "We'll have to buy something, but it's got to be better than the book store. The owner eavesdrops," he added for Hyacinth. "You know, she listens in on people? She looks at the screen when she walks by?"

Jory rolled his eyes. "You say have to buy something like buying ice cream is a bad thing," he teased, then lead the way in. "I haven't had good ice cream in so long." And of course his eyes were on the lookout for this so called gorgeous wizard. For the moment there was no one at the counter and he was free to look through the glass at the various choices of ice cream.

Indigo shook his head at Jory's tease, though he smiled all the same. "Where are you from, anyway?" he asked Hyacinth, and at the answer, his brows furrowed. "Luxembourg's a city, right? In what, France or something?" He'd learned next to nothing in Muggle elementary school about world geography and didn't have a clue.

Hyacinth smiled and shook his head. "Luxembourg is a city, yes, but it is capital of Luxembourg. Luxembourg is a country," he clarified. "It is by Belgium, France, and Germany. I am sorry my English is not good, but Professor laSalle is teaching me to speak better." So far, it was more about understanding better, so he could go through his lessons with fewer pauses, but it was working out.

"Hey guys, they've got about everything here. Oooo, strawberry..." A voice called from the back saying the man would be there to help in just a minute. "And Hyacinth, I think your English has gotten better just from the first time we met. I mean, seriously, how many languages do you know, anyway?" Jory considered anyone that knew multiple languages impressive.

"Ah, just the ones I learned in school," he said. "We speak Luxembourgish at home, and I know French and German. And English," he added. "I do not know Dutch well, but Professor laSalle speaks many languages, and I can maybe learn from him." He paused, looking down into the ice cream case. "You are American, yes?" he asked, with a glance toward Indigo. "You speak only English?"
