Indigo nodded, suddenly struck dumb by that. Hyacinth spoke what, four languages? Almost five? Yeah, his English being a little off was nothing. He was too impressed to even be embarrassed. "I speak Pig Latin," he added, in an attempt to be humorous. He then had to explain that Pig Latin wasn't a real language, though he learned that apparently Hyacinth had forgotten to add Latin to his list.

Jory laughed a little. "People on the mainland tend to know a lot of languages, at least two, usually more. I guess it's 'cause they're all so close together, you know?" He had never learned another language, though he supposed it would probably be a good idea to do so. Perhaps he would find one to add to his list of things to do. Later.

"Hey, guys," Matthew said when he finally made an appearance from the back room. "What can I do for you? There's a bit of a discount for students." It wasn't much but it was just enough to make whatever students came in smile and, for the younger ones, feel like they had gotten away with something. It was more than good for business.

The discount was a relief. Hyacinth eagerly pointed out an ice cream with caramel and fudge ribbons woven through it and asked for a simple cup with one scoop. He'd felt like he was being spoiled since this adventure had begun, but it was far too much fun to put up an argument.

"Sweet," Indigo said. "Do you really have Internet?" he asked. "I swear we're all getting something, but do you?" He didn't typically have such a one-track mind, but since he'd left Salem, finding a place to go online had been a hassle, and someplace where a girl who'd strung him along (no matter how cool that was) and then ditched him wasn't exactly what he'd had in mind.

Jory wavered before pointing to an ice cream that looked like death by chocolate. He had a heck of a sweet tooth and he would never turn down trying a new kind of chocolate, even if it was chocolate ice cream with chocolate fudge swirls and chocolate brownie bits. In a cup, because he knew he would make a horrible mess if he tried a cone and he definitely didn't want to make such a mess in front of a rather handsome man.

"Yep," Matthew said, opening the cooler to scoop out the boys' choices. "The boyfriend's a muggle and insisted we offer it. He usually works the front so if I mess up scooping, I apologize." He flashed a smile and set out a couple of cups. "There's a password thing attached to the register, it changes every week or so."

Hyacinth's smile eased at that, and though he dug into his coin pouch after the money, he was giving the word boyfriend a lot of thought. Oh, he knew what it meant, but he'd never known, met, or seen someone who was gay until he'd entered the wizarding world, and now there were professors, students, and shopkeepers everywhere, it seemed, who were not only gay, but in homosexual relationships. He was polite enough not to say anything, but he had questions he might just ask Jory later.

"So it's free?" Indigo asked. He glanced into the cooler and pointed out a mint chocolate chip, then asked for it in a cup like everyone else's. "No, make mine a sundae," he corrected. "Chocolate fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry." Yes, he was in a good mood, and he could eat whatever he wanted anyway. Plus, he wanted his hands free to show off his new computer.

It thrilled Jory to know there was another gay couple within reach. Perhaps this meant that Diagon Alley, or the wizarding world in general, was becoming more open-minded, though it was strange to think of. Of course, he wasn't sure which was stranger, that there was a gay couple running the ice cream shop, or that one of the men was a muggle.

"Your wish is my command," Matthew said, handing the first two boys their treats. "And yeah, it's free. There aren't a lot of people that use it right now. Maybe if it gets more popular we'll charge but until then there's no point." Most people didn't even know what it was, which wasn't surprising. Having a person or two every now and then leech off Rhys' internet apparently didn't bother him too much.

"Yes," Indigo said, thrilled at that. "I'll so be back." He paid for his sundae, then gestured toward a table in the corner, exactly what he'd be hoping for. He claimed the chair nearest the wall and pulled off his book bag, setting it on the table before sitting. One large mouthful of ice cream, a low sound of appreciation, and he was digging out his new HP EliteBook. It still gave him techgasms to look at.

"Ohh, that is your laptop?" Hyacinth asked. He was no expert by far, but it looked nice. It looked expensive. He might have had to remind himself not to be envious if Remiel hadn't chosen to wake up at last. The kitten had just started its humming of a purr in his pocket, and no doubt would be sticking its head out any moment to see where they were.

"So you know computer things, too?" Jory asked, tucking himself into a chair and looking over at Hyacinth. "They're so weird. Cool, but weird." He took a large bite of his own ice cream, the richness of the chocolate causing him to close his eyes in pleasure.

"We have a computer at home," Hyacinth said, "and I learned computer at school. I do not use it often, but I know what is needed." He wasn't an expert, by any means, but like most non-magical people, he knew enough to get by. "This ice cream is very good," he commented.
