Her cloak was loosely at her shoulders and if it wasn't for that fact that she didn't want to carry it on her arm, she would have completely taken it off. Having been in this part of the world so long, she got used to the cold.
Why was she in Diagon Alley? Celyn was going to pick up a book, but walking around had cleared her mind and she felt like with the slight increase of her grades, she deserved having this time to herself.
Walking past a stand, she paused to look at the merchandise. There were headbands that talked to you and told you what surrounding people thought of you. Her lips curled up into a smile and she slowly walked over to the stand, pulling her cloak tightly to obscure the wand that she held in her hand. Celyn was aware of the fact that it was a complete lie, but what amused her was the fact that people were actually buying it. There was one spell she hadn't tried and with the perfect opportunity such as this, it would be such a waste not to try "Dectusfidelis." [/b] there was no spark, but rather a clear stream that slightly refracted light. In an instant the headband came to life. "Lose the weight lady or off the streets! No amount of makeup will cover that up! Dear sir! Those children are not little dolls!" the vendor jumped up bewildered. Pulling out his wand and tapping the headbands which only resulted in the headbands getting more vulgar. Celyn looked at the man with wide eyes and shock as if offended, while deep down inside she was snickering. People on the sidewalk were rushing past the headband head bowed down to avoid embarrassment while a few had stopped with wands drawn out pointed at the vendor. Celyn slipped away, her lips curled up in an amused smile, this was definitely the highlight of her day.[/blockquote]

Jory didn't have a reason to be in Diagon Alley. As a matter of fact, he had been avoiding it ever since he had last visited Eros. But it was somewhere relatively free from the kids at school. He would love to go get more chocolate, but he was not going to go there and see Eros. He didn't recognize anyone on the streets, much less a single girl out of those walking up and down the line of windows, though he was probably easily noticeable with his jewelry.

The headbands were going wild now one shouted at a lone boy 'Hey kiddo, lose your sisters jewelery! They don't look good on ya!' Celyn poked the headband and it immediately stopped. That was a bit much and upon turning to the guy, she couldn't quite see the problem. "That's the headbands way of saying 'nice stuff'." she smiled gently at the guy. Ok so it was a horrible cover-up, but it was the least she could do.

Jory had curved his shoulders immediately at the sound of the insults, though he didn't see how any girl would want to wear jewelry with interlocking male symbols on it. The rainbows, sure, but he didn't even have a sister anyway. He especially didn't have one with enough ear piercings to wear all the jewelry, he didn't even know anyone else with three in one ear and one in the other.
"Yeah, right," he mumbled in response to the female voice, before he even looked up. When he did look up, he immediately felt a little worse than he had before. The girl's face wasn't cruel. "Sorry, nevermind." So maybe he would run off someone else.

The guy was possibly offended by the headband, or blew it off completely. She felt like she was partially to blame for this and felt it necessary to do something about it. "Wait right here!" [/b] she walked off quickly and grabbed a headband, glaring at the vendor who didn't dare oppose. "I'll bring it back." she returned to the guy and tapped the headband. "Pietaduco."[/b] she muttered the incantation and the headband came back to life. 'Rocking that stuff nicely I see.' she tapped her wand again making the headband once again return to it's dormant state before she sent it back to it's owner who was already packing up. He could now just give her an odd look and walk away, mock her or 'accept' her apology. It didn't matter to her either way she had done what was needed and she wasn't going to go above and beyond to make someone feel better. Celyn kept her smile, it may give her a slight advantage anyays.[/blockquote]

Jory looked cautiously from the flying headband to the girl and raised an eyebrow at her, his expression guarded. "Thank you?" Was that what he was supposed to say? He wanted to be able to just smile and laugh it off and say that the headband was funny. He wasn't able to, though. For all he knew, this girl was just waiting to shoot him down or tell him off or something.

Tough crowd she thought. Celyn didn't feel it necessary. At his thank you she only nodded her head and her smile slowly faded into a blank expression. If her attempts were not worth his time then she wasn't going to attempt doing anything. Instead she turned on her heel and began walking away, taking her time to look through the different shops as she passed by completely ignoring the guy. It was that easy for Celyn, they either responded or they didn't if they didn't then she was going to move on with her life... it was always that simple for Celyn.

Jory almost didn't follow her, and when he didn't he couldn't have said why. "Why'd you do that?" he asked, taking a few near jogging steps toward the girl to catch up with her. She couldn't really say anything that he hadn't already heard, and he had just been stewing anyway, so why not go up and find out? She at least hadn't just laughed at him.

Celyn paused and spun to look at him raising an eyebrow. "Which part? The part where I tried to be nice, or the part when I realized it wasn't going to work and I walked away?" [/b] here words were not harsh, but there was an underlying honesty. "Not everyone wants an apology, when they don't it's always easier to just walk away. That way there's less need to feel guilty." she assumed that was what he was talking about, but she could be wrong. Had he not asked her, she would have never explained to him. Celyn didn't tell without being asked and when asked she always laid it on thick. It was best to make everything direct than beat around the bush, cased less confusion and much less future conflicts.[/blockquote]

"The part where you were nice," Jory said, searching her eyes before looking away. How could he feel so small when he was taller than her? "Sorry, I never get that anymore." It felt natural to feel suspicious, to think that someone being nice was just a cover where they were looking for a way to do damage. He hated that it felt natural.

That was strange, no one ever cared about the nice part anymore. It was as if such an action was taken for granted and yet before her someone was asking her why. Celyn looked up, he was taller than she was, but height never intimidated her from speaking her mind, this was no different. "Why? Do people have to have a reason to do something that's good? Maybe I felt like I owed you, maybe I felt like it would be good to be nice to someone. I cant give you a definite answer." [/b] Celyn grew curious of his own question and was about to ask, but as he looked into her eyes she stopped herself. There was something different. Was this guy going to be like another Trent emotionally all over the place? Perhaps, but Trent wasn't acting completely on his own accord that much was obvious when she looked into his eyes, this guy was different.[/blockquote]

Jory shrugged and brought his hands together in front of him to play with his thumb ring. "People usually aren't just nice," he said. "And when they pretend to be then it's because they're just looking for a way to be mean." He was emotionally all over the place, or he could be. He didn't want to be, though. Maybe this girl was different, maybe she would help. No, it was too early to be hoping for something like that.

Celyn could understand what he meant, everyone was only nice for their own benefit. Even those who were legitimately nice did it for some form of gain, even if it's not physical. "To hell with them. If their mean then they're not worth being around." she was quite unsure what made him bring her such topic, but it was so obvious how lost he was. His emotions were everywhere, it made Celyn feel a bit... bad. She mentally shook her head, never feel bad for others not everyone wanted pity.

"Yeah, that's what everyone says," Jory said, shrugging. "But it's a lot easier said than done when the ones that are mean go after you." Maybe he shouldn't be telling her this, when he had just met her, but he didn't care anymore about keeping this to himself. Maybe starting out with how messed up he was would lead to her not leaving and talking down to him.

"That's the problem, talk is cheap. You don't let this thing over here get in the way." she placed a hand gently to where her heart was. It was always best to be raw, not soft and cuddly it was usually those guys who got screwed over. Celyn was not sure why, but she felt like she had to show the guy how it was done, how it was like to not give a damn. "I mean honestly, will you really care about what that guy thinks about you a week from now? How about after a few hours?" Celyn had to constantly deal with Ravenclaw bigotry and she had learned to blow it off. In fact, because she blew it off all it did was piss the Ravenclaws off even more.
Celyn found it so odd that she was talking to someone so casually, someone she had never met before. She didn't even know his name, but the vulnerability that was radiating from the guy induced a similar feeling she had when around her little sister. It was a feeling like it was her duty to show him, to guide him. It was weird, but it was present.
