"My dad and I were never really close." Verity said. "But I adored my mum. She died when I was younger, though." She explained, although she wasn't really looking for pity or sympathy. "My dad seemed to get over it quickly, but I guess I look a lot like her. He didn't like that too much." Her eyes dropped to the ground. "But things happen, life goes on." She said. "I can't really complain now. I've never been happier!"

Aiden nodded, "That's what's important, isn't it? No reason to dwell in the past if it's just gonna make you miserable. It's so much better to just move on a lot of the time." He had seen people that just thought about the past and they just looked like the felt horrible all the time. It seemed like it took too much energy and time to do that.

"I couldn't have said it better myself, my friend." Verity said. What didn't hurt you only made you stronger, pain was only weakness leaving the body, que sera sera, and so on and so forth. Life moved on and everyone else just needed to do the same. Verity hated feeling miserable. She didn't used to be like that. She used to rule the school without a care as to how her actions effected other people. She used to be bitter and vicious and selfish. She was completely different now. Well...she could still be vicious if she wanted to be.

"Do you have a big group here?" Aiden asked after sliding back to where his back was against the wall. He let his legs relax out on either side of the bench and brought his hands together loosely against his waist. There were some people that seemed to know everyone in the school, and some that only had a few very close friends.

"Not really." Verity said. "I have two close friends, although we've all been a little busy and I haven't gotten to see either one in a while." Celyn and Jory were her closest friends. She had met others, but they had been nothing more than acquaintances. They had been people she ran into on accident, had a nice chat with, but when they went their separate ways they hadn't bothered to keep in touch. "I'm not around Hogwarts enough to socialize." Most of her free time was spent at the Three Broomsticks. "How about you?"

"I have a lot of friendly acquaintances," Aiden said, shrugging. "But no one I'm really all that close to." He tended to joke around too much to have serious conversations, tended to live too much in the moment and in the future to get close to someone. "Never really thought much of it." He just didn't get close.

"I've got a few of those, too." Verity said with a little laugh. She had enemies, too, she was sure of it. She had Vivikia hadn't ended on good terms, if that could be guidelines for an enemy. "Well, maybe we can do this another time." Verity said. She wasn't looking for another friendly acquaintance to add to the list. She really believed that she and Aiden could be good friends, but then again she thought that about a lot of people she never really talked to again.

"Yeah, sounds like a plan to me," Aiden said. He nodded and looked back out over the room. "Want to head back out soon?" He was warmed up now, and wouldn't mind another couple of laps before heading up to the castle. "Unless you just want to fly to the castle, avoid the snow altogether." He momentarily forgot that she had borrowed a school broom and so couldn't do that.

"I think I'll head back to the castle for now." Verity said reluctantly. She would love to go flying with him again with her Firebolt, but she wasn't ready to humiliate herself any more on the shoddy school broom. "How about a rain check?" She would have to take her Firebolt out eventually. She couldn't ride around on the flimsy piece of scrap wood the school provided forever. The snow would have to melt soon anyways, right? She just needed it to melt by about a foot before she could consider bringing the Firebolt out.

"Yeah, sounds good," Aiden said, nodding. "We'll meet up again sometime, maybe I'll head down to the Three Broomsticks soonish." He had no intention of working a ton, but doing a little bit of work would probably be good for him, and it would be something he could do that didn't involve school work.
