Verity watched the jar's glass go from clear to clear-with-orange-swirls. Apparently the fire was heating it up faster than she expected. At least it was heat. She was ready to put it out for when the jar wasn't enough to contain it anymore. Which, by the looks of the way things were going now, was going to be sooner than she thought. Verity wondered briefly what would happen if she set the entire locker room on fire. What if they got trapped? Well, at least it would be a nice change from being trapped because of the snow. Verity came as close to the fire as she could without putting herself in life-threatening danger.

Aiden shifted, then stood to pace around the room, hopping lightly on the balls of his feet as he moved. He rubbed his hands together as he looked absently around. "So, if you're so scared of the cold, why'd you go out to fly?" he asked, casting a nervous glance to the not-so-safe looking fire. He was cold, sure, but it wasn't that bad.

"I'm not scared of the cold," Verity muttered to herself. Sure she preferred warm and sandy beaches to snow and dead trees, but she tolerated the cold. To a point. She tended to draw the line when her fingers got numb and raw and she could hardly feel any bone in her body because they had all gone numb. She shrugged. She couldn't think of a good reason for why she did go flying in the cold. In fact, the more she thought about it, the more ridiculous the thought seemed. "I..."She said, pausing to think of what to say next. "I guess I just wanted to fly." It wasn't much of an excuse, but it was the only reason she had for nearly freezing to death.

Aiden paused and looked over at Verity. He smiled and gave a shrug before starting back up his pacing again. "I can agree with that. I love flying. It's pretty awesome." It was his thing, it was what he had always loved doing, and always would love doing. It was how he wanted to make his living once he graduated, and he was pretty damned sure he could make it.

"I was on a Quidditch team at my old school," Verity said. "But when I came here it was the middle of the term and the teams had already been established." She said with a sigh. It was hard going from practicing and training everyday to barely ever flying at all. For a bit there Verity thought quidditch was what she was going to do with her life. She was sure she would continue playing all throughout her schooling and get offered a position on a team right at the finish of her seventh year. It was funny how things changed so quickly. There was no way she was going to be recruited now, not that she even wanted to be anymore. "Do you play quidditch on a team here?" Verity asked curiously. It wouldn't surprise her, but then again she wasn't all that familiar with the school's teams. For all she knew, he was too advanced to play on one.

"I used to," Aiden said, nodding. "But not really this year. I'd rather get some people together to play. Besides, I'm going to be trying out for a team next year, though." He wanted to play professionally, that was his dream. If he could make it to the world cup, he could die a happy, happy man. "You?" He didn't think so, but he could always have just not seen her.

"No, I haven't really played here." Verity said. "I go to the matches, when I can." She said. When there was a Quidditch match, it seemed like business picked up at the Three Broomsticks. Especially during the big matches, like Slytherin versus Gryffindor. She didn't really realize how much she missed playing until she started talking about it. She wondered if she started playing again, if she would even be any good? It was easy to smack a ball clear across the stadium and straight for your opponent's face when you were harvesting a lot of pent up anger, but she wasn't like that anymore. Did that mean she wouldn't be able to play as well?

"Maybe I can get some people that aren't on the teams together to play some. Wait until it's a little warmer...wouldn't need many." Aiden wouldn't even need to find full teams, as long as there was someone for each position they could play. It would be kind of hard to play with only a chaser apiece, though...maybe he would need to look for two for each team. He went silent as he thought through it.

That wasn't a bad idea. They could have fun doing what they love to do without being sucked into all the hype and drama of the official teams. "That's a really good idea." Verity said. She was like a dog with a bone. Once she heard an idea she liked, she wouldn't let it go until it happened. If it didn't happen, she got pretty let down even if the idea wasn't concrete to begin with. "I might know of a few people who could be interested." She offered.

"I don't know many, but I could ask around," Aiden said. His mind flickered to Trent, but he wasn't sure the guy would be willing to play. "Maybe put something up in the common room..." That bulletin board was always covered in stuff, but he was sure he could make his announcement seen, and it was definitely worth a shot if it meant some playtime.

"I really think it could work." Verity said. Mostly, she just wanted it to work so badly that she had to think it could work. There had to be something they could work out about using the Quidditch Pitch in between matches and team practices. Verity agreed with the idea of putting a flyer or notice about it on the bulletin board. "I could do the same. I could also put something up about it in the Three Broomsticks. A few students come in when they visit Hogsmeade."

"Three Broomsticks?" Aiden asked, momentarily pulled from his thoughts of building an unofficial team. "Do you work there or something?" He rarely went down into Hogsmeade, and so though he was aware that some students owned businesses down there, he had no idea who owned the Three Broomsticks, much less if it was Verity.

"Yeah, something like that." Verity said with a little laugh. Most of the people who come into the Three Broomsticks don't assume she's the owner. When they find out, they're surprised. What is a young girl like her running that kind of place? She was of age and she had been of age when she bought and re-opened the place so legally, it was allowed. Socially, it wasn't expected. She was a student trying to make a living, much like many of the other shopkeepers in Hogsmeade. "I kind of own the place." She added nonchalantly.

Aiden did a double take and then blinked blankly at Verity. She had to be joking. But no, she wasn't. At least, she didn't look like she was, so she either wasn't, or she was a hell of a good liar. "You're serious," he said flatly. Then his face broke into a smile and he gave a light laugh. "That is effing awesome." It was, it was one of the last things he would have expected of her, but it was definitely pretty cool.

"Yeah?" Verity said, raising her eyebrows in surprise. The reaction certainly was different than the scoff and sarcastic Yeah, right that she usually got. "Yeah." She said again, this time with more certainty. "I guess it is!" She usually only thought about it as a means of making the money she so desperately needed, but if she gave it a little more thought she would realize that it was, in fact, effing awesome. She loved every minute she worked at that place. She loved being able to say it was hers.
