"I'm not embarrassed!" Verity defended. Well, she wasn't really until the topic shifted to the subject of her embarrassment. She was shy at times, self-conscious at others, but embarrassed was what you were when Emily Berkson stole your bra at a sleep over during your third year and set it on display for the whole school to see. Verity wasn't embarrassed, not to the point that she realized she was at least. "Besides, just because you've never been embarrassed doesn't mean you don't get embarrassed." She said. "Everyone's embarrassed at some point in their life. It's natural."

"Nah, I don't get embarrassed, I have a helluva sense of humor," Aiden said, grinning broadly. "Hell, I was pantsed once in fourth year. I went commando after that, the next time they did it they got an eyeful of something they definitely didn't want to see." So the exact truth of that could be contested, but he wasn't changing it too much.

Verity laughed and shaked her head. She refused to believe that he was immune to embarrassment, but that was probably so she could make herself feel better about how easily she got embarrassed. "So you don't get embarrassed," Verity said with a bit of a sarcastic edge, "Do you have any other super human powers?" She asked in a teasing manner. Maybe he didn't feel pain either. Or maybe he couldn't feel the cold and that was why he was out there flying around.

"Hmm," Aiden said, bringing a hand up to scratch at the barely visible stubble just starting to sprout on his chin and looking up thoughtfully at the ceiling. After a few moments of "serious" thought, he grinned and looked back at Verity. "I'm immune to the distraction of relationships," he claimed. His eyes sparkled softly as he watched for a reaction. Not that it was a big deal, and not that many people knew, but it tended to bring odd looks, at least.

"Ah," Verity said after thinking about it for a moment. As a person who was easily distracted by relationships, or rather the lack of, she did find it a bit odd. "That is a good one." She said, adding a soft sigh. She wondered if she could have that immunity if maybe she just worked for it for a little bit. As she thought about it, she realized she couldn't. Life was too short to already claim being an old maid. She was a person who hated being alone, even just for a little bit. She found comfort in keeping people close to her, no matter how many times that proved to be unreliable.

Aiden nodded, "It is. But I see you as one of those girls that's always got a guy in mind." Any issue she had about his own preference could be brought up later, he had never shied away from explaining it before, that was assuming she would even want to hear anything. "Or am I just totally off?" The way she had responded made it feel like maybe she had had a bad experience with relationships.

"I don't need a guy to be happy." Verity said. That part was true, but that didn't mean she wasn't thinking about a guy all the time. She missed Leo, she wondered where Maverick was, and in a completely different way than she thought about the others, she thought about why she hadn't seen Jory in forever. She had the Three Broomsticks to keep her busy and her school work to keep her even busier. If she hadn't been thinking about guys, it was because she was too busy to let her mind wander on to the subject. Even still, that clearly meant she wasn't thinking about guys all the time. "How about you?" Verity started. Two could play this game. "I bet you're the kind of guy who has a different chick every day of the week."

Aiden gave a short laugh and shook his head. "Nope," he said. "Not interested in girls." And that was true. He rarely, if ever, thought of girls, at least not in that context. "Or guys, for that matter, if you thought about going there." The same with them. Not that he had anything against guys that swung that way.

"Ahh," Not interested in girls, well that was alright. There seemed to be no shortage of guys who swayed that way, either. She immediately started to work out in her head whether or not he would be a good match for Jory. Or, at the least, a bit of fun for Jory. Oh. Well, scratch that thought, then. That was curious that he didn't have a thing for girls or guys. "You're a very interesting guy." Verity said, watching him. She couldn't figure him out which was unusual for her. She usually had a person pegged down within ten minutes of talking to them.

Aiden smiled, shrugged, and pushed away from the wall to resume his slow, easy pacing. "I'll take that as a compliment," he said. He didn't mind being considered interesting, as long as it wasn't a bad turn-up-your-nose kind of interesting. It was nice being different in such a unique way, even though there were times, however few and far between, that he wished he could find just one person that knew where he was coming from.

"You should." Verity said, leaning against a set of lockers. "It's a whole lot better than being boring, isn't it?" Being interesting was a good thing. It meant that he was unique, that he had a sense of individuality. Not everyone was interesting. In fact, too many people weren't interesting. It was a terrible shame. Being unique was an admirable trait. It kept people on their toes guessing.

"Well, we'll hang out and be interesting," Aiden said, smiling over at her. "We'll take over the school with our awesomeness." He didn't have a close friend, but if she became one he certainly wouldn't mind. Verity seemed like she could be a lot of fun to hang out with. "You don't need an awesome waiter at the Three Broomsticks, do you?" he teased.

"We'll rule the school." Verity agreed as her eyes lit up. First years will scurry out of their way as the made their way down a corridor. Second, third, fourth, and fifth years alike will wish they could be them. Sixth and seventh years will turn their heads and whisper about the latest rumors revolving around the dynamic duo. The thought appealed to Verity, but she snapped out of it just as soon as he spoke again. She could tell he was teasing by the tone of his voice, but it wasn't a bad idea. "We could always use the extra help, if it's something you want to do." She said. She had a great team of staff members that were quick and efficient, but should one or two of them get sick at the same time she would be grossly under-staffed. "Well, I mean, if you think you can handle it." Verity teased back.

"Oh I could handle it," Aiden said, winking. "I'd make sure everyone leaves laughing. You'll be the hottest spot in town...not that you aren't already." Okay, so he didn't ever hear people raving about being able to go to the Three Broomsticks regularly, but it was okay to tease and flatter a little. It never hurt anyone. "Think you can handle me?"

Verity laughed. The Three Broomsticks was hardly the hottest spot in town. She didn't think of it as a happening place. It was a good place for a nice dinner with the family, to catch up with old friend, or to drown sorrows in hard liquor, as so many frequently did. "No, I don't think we could handle you." She teased with a little laugh. "We're not equipped to replace all the glasses and dishes at the moment." You know, in case he dropped them. Or something.
