"Ouch," Aiden said, bringing a hand to his chest in feign pain. "You don't have to be so nice or something." He grinned and gave another wink. "I have amazing balance, just so you know." He wouldn't drop anything at all, well, unless someone deserved a cold drink in the lap. A job had never worked out for him, but he hadn't really looked for one, either. It would be nice to have a little bit of extra money.

"If you're serious about it," Verity said with a shrug, "You can stop by any time and we can see if you can handle it." She honestly had no doubt about his ability to serve. He would probably make a great server, in fact. He was friendly and easy to get along with and based on the bulges on his arm, she wouldn't have to worry about him complaining that his arms were sore from lugging around trays of dishes all day. "The pay isn't fabulous," Verity added hesitantly, "but it's better than a lot of places." Servers mostly earned their money from their tips. Their ability to serve a customer properly determined the amount of tip they would get, although there were some people who refused to tip above a certain amount.

"I'll stop by sometime, when we're not buried under like three feet of snow or whatever," Aiden said. "I swear I can be serious sometimes...just not too much, or I lose it a little." He laughed lightly and went silent for a few moments as he thought. "So...how'd you end up with the place?" he asked when he looked back up at Verity.

"Oh, right. Snow." Verity said crinkling her nose. She forgot all about the snow, the cold, the grey skies. She missed the clear blue, sunny skies and the warmth of summer. "I bought a few months ago," She said, forgetting that nine months was a little more than a few months ago. "I realized that I needed to make some cash of my own and I had heard that this shop in Hogsmeade was vacant. I thought about changing it from the Three Broomsticks, but there was already a beloved clothing shop in Hogsmeade and it didn't seem likely that both of us would survive. A friend of mine suggested that I keep the Three Broomsticks the way it was, so I did...with the exception of a few minor adjustments." She paused to take a breath. "I had a lot of help, though. I could never do it on my own."

"I bet, it doesn't sound easy at all. I couldn't have done it," Aiden said, moving over to straddle a bench. He drummed lightly on the wood. "I mean, it would have gone under with me in like a week. You must be good." He hadn't been since it changed management, or he would have known that she owned it when he had first seen her.

"It isn't easy." Verity said with a shrug. "But like I said, I've had a lot of help." Jamie had come in in the beginning and fixed it up. Alice, her amazing cook, taught her how to cook and some basic cleaning spells. She learned from her mistakes. There were a lot of mistakes in the beginning, but now they weren't as common. She had a great amount of support from her friends, and of course, from her customers. "When I first got it, I hardly knew how pour a Firewhiskey or how to make butterbeer!" She had come a long way from then.

Aiden laughed lightly and shook his head. "I can just see you freaking out and trying to figure it all out," he said. "I bet you were running around like crazy when it first opened." Hopefully it wasn't bad enough that she ran off some customers, and if she did, that it was only one or two. Well, the thought gave him a smile, even if it wasn't entirely true.

"I barely left the place for the first two months." Verity admitted. "I really thought I was going to close it after the first week. It was too much and I had no idea bow I could keep doing it." She said. It had been hell at the time, but it was something she could easily laugh about now. "My friends convinced me to keep it though. It all worked out in the end." And they all lived happily ever after. "It's not so bad anymore." She said. Truthfully, she couldn't imagine spending any length of time away from it.

"So it took you a while to let someone else be in charge when you were gone?" Aiden asked. He knew that if he had put so much work into something he would be constantly paranoid that something would go horribly wrong if it was open when he wasn't there to personally watch over everything. Yet another reason he would much rather have a job with a hell of a lot less responsibility.

"Yeah, it's still hard doing that." Verity said. The first time she didn't go to the Three Broomsticks at all in one day was the night she met Leo and they had gone to Diagon Alley. It turned out to be alright in the end, but that didn't keep her from worrying about it. "I have this really big fear that I'll be gone for a few minutes, making a quick trip to the store to pick something up that they may have run out of, and the whole place will go to flames." Or maybe someone would rob it, or maybe an angry customer would let his wand loose and wreak havoc. "It's a lot to lose."

"That's totally understandable, you've probably put just as much money into the place as you've gotten out of it, it'd be like me losing my broom," Aiden said, shooting a look over at where his nimbus leaned against the wall. "But you've gone this long, hopefully nothing will happen to it, at least until you sell it off to do your travel thing."

"Yeah, maybe." She said. She was torn between fulfilling what had been her dream for years and what had been a major part of her life now. Maybe she could find someone to take care of it while she was gone. When she came back, it would still be there and it would still be hers. "How did you learn to fly like that?" Verity asked. She knew Hogwarts had a Flying Class, but she didn't think it really went past a beginner to intermediate level. She knew other people who had taken that class, but none of them could fly like he could.

Aiden stared at his broom as he spoke. "Taught myself, mostly. I have an aunt that was on the Holyhead Harpies, she helped a little, but I haven't seen her since like third year. I go to all the games I can, I've been to three world cups with my dad." And that was so much fun. They would go with some of his dad's buddies and share a tent.

"Wow." Verity said. "You're close with your family, then?" she asked. She always found it fascinating when people talked about the stuff they've done with their family or because of their family. She envied it, mostly. She was never really that close with her family, except for her mother. She adored her mother, but her mother hadn't been with her long enough. "The World Cup must have been exquisite." She had never been to one, especially not with her father.

"It's just me and dad, mostly, my mum died just after I was born. But yeah, I'm close to dad, and the World Cup is awesome to see." Aiden didn't remember his mother and so didn't really miss her. He had always been close to his dad, they were a lot alike, though sometimes his dad could be more best friend than father figure.
