"Yeah, I wouldn't have the...hm...well, anything for something like that. Patience, nothing. I couldn't stay inside all the time, but that's pretty cool that you have it. You gonna keep it when you graduate?" Aiden asked, leaning back against the wall and propping a foot back against it. He couldn't imagine having that kind of responsibility.

"It's not too bad." Verity said with a shrug. If she wasn't distracted by serving customers, she was in the back working out the numbers and such. "When I first started it, I had no idea what I was doing." She said without meaning to. That wasn't exactly a piece of information she liked to hand out to people. "But I mean, I had a lot of help and all." She said, which was true in some respect. She had Jamie to fix the place up, a bunch of old recipes the old owner left behind, and some of the house elves even taught her how to cook properly. She had come a long way since the day she opened the Three Broomsticks.
"I suppose so." Verity said. "For a little bit, at least." She had just kind of expected to stay at the Three Broomsticks until she got enough money to travel like she wanted. The truth was, she couldn't even imagine not having the Three Broomsticks anymore. It was a major part of her life. Besides, her grades weren't strong enough to get her into a well-respected office job, not that she even wanted one. "I doubt I'll keep it for the rest of my life." Like any other person, she had dreams of her own.

Aiden nodded and crossed his arms as he listened. "Okay, so what do you want to do, then?" he asked. He tilted his head slightly with the question. He knew just what he wanted to do, but what would Verity want? Guessing what people would do for a career wasn't something that he had ever been any good at, and so he didn't even attempt to try to guess for her.

"Uhm, well..." Verity hesitated. Her cheeks flushed a bright red. "It's kind of silly, really." She said. In fact, the more she talked about it, the sillier it seemed. She hadn't really done anything to fulfill this so-called dream of hers. She wasn't really sure how to start it off. How did a person go from serving Firewhiskey to old has-beens and making soup to drawing up designs and selling their own line of clothing? It seemed like there was an extra step in there that she was missing. "I want to travel. Maybe one day, I'll live in Paris or something. Then, I want to own my own clothing shop where I make and sell my own designs."

"It's not silly, if it's what you want to do, you know? Who cares what it is as long as it's something you like." Aiden shrugged and glanced around the room. "I mean, it's practically impossible to get lucky enough to get on a professional team, well, a good one, anyway." He had gotten more than a few doubting looks from what he wanted to do.

"It can't be impossible if there are people who do it," Verity said. A confused expression crossed over her face as she tried to make sense of her words. "I mean," She said, pausing to collect her thoughts. "Teams recruit new members all the time, right? So there has to be some kind of method to the madness." She said. "I guess I haven't really seen you play, but you know how to control your broom. If it's something you really want, then you have a shot at making it happen." Now she was just rambling. Words were flying out of her mouth before she figured out what she was even saying. "Have any scouts come out to see you play yet?"

Aiden shook his head, "Not really, there was one that came by to look at the captain of Gryffindor's team once, but I was like a third year." He had been on the team, but he doubted the man had noticed him for anything more than good for a third year. "I scored a tryout for next summer, though," he said. At least that was good.

"Well, that's something!" Verity exclaimed. "At least you've got loads of time to prepare." She added. There would only be a couple more months of this ridiculous weather. Soon enough it would we warm enough to go flying everyday! "I hope you don't mind me asking." Verity began. "But what year are you?" She was awful at telling how old people were. She thought some of the first-years hardly looked old enough to cross a street without holding their parents' hands, but then again there were some seventh years that looked more like first years. It was way too confusing.

"Sixth," Aiden answered. He wasn't graduating this year, but he knew of players that were still in school while they played professionally, Viktor Krum was a perfect example. "What about you?" When it came to ages, he had decided it was much safer to ask than to try to guess, especially if it was a girl. He had seen some get more than a little pissy when their age was guessed wrong.

"Seventh." Verity answered with a sigh. She was so close to being finished with her classes, but she never wanted to leave Hogwarts. She loved the professors, the students, the traditions, all that there was to do, but she hated the work. It was boring. It was a waste of time. What was the point in taking Advanced Potions when she would never again use the information? If she could still reside at Hogwarts but maintain the Three Broomsticks, she'd be in heaven. But that would never happen. "It's really nice that you know what you want to do," Verity admired. "This time last year, I had no idea where I was going to be in the next month let alone what I was going to do with my life."

"Really? I always wanted to play," Aiden said. It was hard to imagine having no idea what he wanted to do, it had just always been so obvious and clear to him what he wanted to end up doing. He didn't know how people could go for so long without knowing, it just seemed like it would eat at them and eat at them until they just went crazy.

"I guess I never really knew what to expect. According to my father, I am supposed to marry well so I never have to work. When I started thinking for myself and when I realized that idea was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard, I wasn't sure of how I was supposed to know what I wanted to do." Verity said. She was about fourteen when she started hating everything her father had planned out for her. It was like she had no say in her life and instead she was stuck watching it whiz by her. She figured it out eventually and now she was working to make sure it really happened. Verity blinked. It wasn't normal for her to give that extra little piece of personal information. Her cheeks flushed a bright red. She really needed to think before she spoke. It wasn't like he cared about it...it wasn't even like she really cared about what her father used to do. It was all in the past.

Aiden wrinkled his nose and looked at her in disbelief. "That's some kind of bull," he said. "What's the fun in relying on someone else? Seems to me like it'd be insanely boring." He had absolutely no intentions of getting married. "Well, at least you saw the light," he said, then tilted his head at her. "Why so red?" She wasn't embarrassed, was she?

Verity laughed. "Yeah, I did." She said. She hated how easily she blushed, how she could feel her cheeks getting hotter, and how it seemed like there was nothing she could do from blushing even more. "I don't know what you're talking about." Verity said turning her cheek and hoping that maybe it wouldn't be so obvious. She realized that she actually felt warm. She could feel her fingers, her toes, and even the tip of her nose. Her eyes shifted to the jar of fire as she wondered how such a small jar could produce so much heat. That was when she remembered she was supposed to be watching the fire. Her eyes grew wide. The fire had grown and it seemed like in a matter of seconds it could set the table it was resting on, on fire. Verity pointed her wand at the fire and a long stream of water came shooting out, dousing the flames.

Aiden grinned. "Oh, nothing, just the bright red blush on your face," he teased lightly. He wasn't aware of anything he had done, though for all he knew it could have been a complete accident that he did something. "Makes me glad I don't get embarrassed." It was more common for him to just brush something off rather than get worked up about it.
