"Awww, okay," Jory said, disappointed. He thought it would be fine to be back there, but he really didn't want to chance something going wrong with Verity's ink. He paid for his own and headed to the waiting area, though he highly doubted he would stay there the entire time of Verity's work.

Maverick managed to keep his smile to himself as he put the money away and focused his attention on Verity again. "So, do you know what you want?" he asked, gesturing for her to go back and sit in the chair. He found a piece of translucent paper to put her idea down on so that he could transfer the design to her skin when it was perfect. He was definitely looking forward to this.

Verity took that lovely opportunity to confirm her suspicions from earlier. He did, in fact, have a nice ass. She wasn't sure why she hadn't noticed it any sooner. Probably because she was too preoccupied with the rest of him. When she took her seat on the chair as he gestured for her to do, she cross one leg over the other and leaned back on her hands a little. As usual, when she sat down her skirt rode up a smidgen revealing a little more leg. "Hmmm." Verity said. "I was thinking..." She could go with something flowery and girly like she was originally thinking, but no, she wanted something different. "...a Phoenix." She said finally. "I want the wings to spread across the back here." Verity said twisting around, lifting her up shirt and running her fingers across her low back slowly from one side to another. "But I don't want it to take up much more than my lower back."

Maverick let his eyes hover on Verity's smooth skin for a few seconds longer than strictly necessary before he turned to lay the paper out on a glass spot of the counter, tapping it so that it glowed through the paper. "Okay, you can relax for a few minutes. I need to draw it up, I don't do much freehand." He was drawing it in less time than he normally took, and there would only be one draft, but she was there to give him instant critiquing on it. "How do you want it to look? Flowing, tribal, angular..."

“Take your time.” Verity said, grinning. It would give her a chance to check him out some more and she wanted it to be absolutely perfect. She thought about how she wanted it to look. If she closed her eyes, she could see it perfectly. The wings would be spread wide open, the head tilted back oh so slightly, and the extravagant feathers would be flowing down in a perfect curve. She wanted it to look free for everything it signified, but she also wanted it to flow. As the image danced across her mind, her grin widened. “I want it to be flowing. With wide wings, the head tilted back slightly, and the feathers flowing down.” She answered, just as she saw it in her mind. Her voice was soft and airy. The picture had been painted perfectly in her mind and if she knew how to draw at all, she would have put it on paper herself.

Maverick nodded and his hand followed his vision of her design. "You know, normally when girls that look like you come in here they want a butterfly on their ankle or something," he said. Or a rose. It was all so generic, it was nice to see someone that wanted something different. Not that he minded any chance he had to get his hands on some hot girls, but there was always that one girl in the group...of course, sometimes he would get lucky and it would just be a butterface. There were always ways around unwanted attributes.

Verity raised an eyebrow. "I guess I'm not like most girls." She said tilting her head to the side a little. She hadn't come to get a tat just so some stranger could stick a needle in her and draw pretty pictures. No, it was a symbol of her freedom. She was seventeen, she was finally free from everything she tried to break free from before. She had no manipulative, hypocritical father or his latest mistress to hold her back. She was on her own and she was loving every second of it. "Do you get a lot of girls in here?" She asked for the sake of conversation as well as a distraction. She didn't really care how many, erm witches, came into the shop. She was so excited she was nearly shaking and she needed to calm herself down before it was time.

"I do," Maverick said, bringing a sweeping line of the second wing across the page. "But there are very few that come anywhere close to you, sheila." It was true, he got a ton of giggling girls freshly seventeen looking for something that would make them daring, but that they could cover up and pretend they didn't have, even small enough for makeup to cover up. They were all less than they thought they were.

For a moment there, Verity's smile faltered. She shouldn't be doing this, but it was just a little harmless fun. An image of the look on Leo's face when he found her with that guy at the Festival flashed across her mind. But it was only a brief second before the image was gone and Verity stopped thinking about what Leo might think. She hadn't done anything wrong, yet. "Oh yeah?" Verity said, shutting her mind off altogether and bringing her grin back. "How so?"

Maverick smirked and glanced back at Verity. "Let me see, I'll start with the obvious. I have honestly never seen anyone with purple eyes. Then your hair, do you have any idea how weird it is to see someone that doesn't have blonde hair and brown roots?" he asked, glancing over. He made a few more strokes on the picture and motioned for her to come over and look at it over the light to see if it was okay.

Verity scrunched up her nose. She used to hate her purple eyes and they way people would just stare. As if because her eyes were purple, she couldn't see the way people looked at her. She eventually grew out of it and come to accept them. Now the fact that they were so different from most people's eyes was what made her love them more. "I almost went blonde once." Verity said. "I had a friend who convinced me to let her dye my hair. Only, instead of blonde it came out in this god-awful hot pink color." She didn't know why she was telling him this. It was just another memory of how she had been a stupid little third year at some point in her life. "But that was a long time ago. And I quickly realized how stupid it was." She added a light laugh at the end. At the time, it had been a nightmare. Now it was just kind of funny to think about it.

"Blonde is great, but some chicks just shouldn't do it," Maverick said, shaking his head. He had never been around classy ones, but he would take a natural blonde or whatever than one with two inch roots, not that he was all too picky. "What do you think?" he asked, gesturing again to the finished design. He wanted her to look at it over the light to get the best view of it.

Verity slid out of the chair. Her heels made a light clink as they hit the ground. In a couple of steps, she was already over to where he sketched it. She leaned over his should and pressed a hand on the edge of the table to keep her balance. She wasn't at all aware of how close she was to him as she looked the sketch over. She was quiet for a few seconds, or maybe it was even a full minute, as she looked the sketch over and took in all the details. "It's...perfect." Verity said, although it came out so softly that it was more of a breath.

Maverick told himself that he had to at least get the tattoo done before anything happened, well...not really, but it was probably a better thing to wait. Still, he was going to enjoy having this young pretty thing all but laying on him. "Glad you like it," he said when she spoke. "You can lay down or sit backwards in the chair, doesn't matter to me." Other than that it was easier to touch her if she laid down.

Verity nodded and straightened up. She made her way back to the chair in what seemed like one swift movement. One of the many benefits of being in such a small room was that she didn't have to go far. Verity could walk in heels perfectly, hell she could probably win a cross-country meet in them, but a combination of a little bit nervousness and mostly excitement made her steps feel a little wobbly. She laid down. It still hadn't entirely hit what she was about to do and she was fine with that. She knew if she really thought about it, she would get noticeably nervous so she didn't think about it.
