Verity met up with Jory at Gringotts. The actually building kind of spooked her with how it seemed to loom over everything else in Diagon Alley. The entire building was made out of stone and it gave it an eerie cold look and ran chills up Verity’s spine. The goblins were another story altogether. She felt like she might accidentally step on one as the scurried around her and their wrinkled leather-like skin irked her. When Jory was ready to go, Verity booked it out of there. She was glad there weren’t many other people in there to hold them up.
As they left Diagon Alley and stepped into the streets of London, Verity’s excitement was back. She had forgotten all about those horrid goblins and the creepiness of Gringotts. A wide, silly looking grin practically spread from ear to ear. They were actually doing this! It was so exciting. That was when Verity realized she was just walking, without really knowing where she was going. She knew the way to all of her favorite shops and boutiques. She knew where the best restaurants were and where the Globe Theatre was, as well as all the other major attractions in London, but she didn’t know anything else about London. “Err. Maybe you should lead the way. “ She said stopping suddenly. She let out an excited squeal. “Ohmygod I can’t believe we’re really doing this!”

"I know!" Jory said with a broad grin and sparkling eyes as he led the way. "I mean, this is like when I went to get my belly button pierced. I had been thinking about it a while-I have a list-and I met up with an old friend at the lake and next thing I know we were off to London and skipping class." It had been fun, though he hadn't seen Zilly since then. He was almost used to friends disappearing now, though.

"It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun." Verity said grinning. She could still remember the excitement she felt from skipping class, even if she didn't really have anywhere else to be. At her old school, she had this friend that would skip class with her. They would run into each other in the halls and the next thing she knew, they were hiding under the stands with a bottle of Firewhiskey they found in one of the Professor's quarters. She hadn't done anything like that at Hogwarts, though. She was trying not to screw things up too badly at the only school she felt at home at. "What are you thinking of getting done?" She asked curiously as it crossed her mind.

"My eyebrow, probably," Jory said, reaching up to touch his left eyebrow. "A vertical one. They have horizontal ones, but I think they look weird. I thought about getting my tongue done, but I don't know if I'm ready for it. But on the other hand, if I do it now it should be healed enough by the time school starts that I can talk normal." Of course, as soon as whatever he gets today heals up he intended to head back and get another.

"If you get the tongue today," Verity started, even though she didn't know that much about piercings, "Then it will heal up in time for when school starts again." Verity paused here to give a disapproving look to the fact that school would ever have to start again. "And then you can just get your eyebrow done." It was just a suggestion, and it wasn't a very well thought-out one, just something she blurted out...as usual. She shrugged. "But won't the tongue piercing like mess up how things taste?"

Jory shrugged and gave a small shake of his head. "I don't think so. But I won't be able to eat whatever I want right after I get it done, it'll take a few days." He had all but decided on the eyebrow, but to go ahead and get his tongue done would be nice. "I don't know how much either of them hurt, everyone says different. But I know the eyebrow'll bleed." Now he wasn't sure.

Verity cringed. She hated blood. It was red and gross and it was not supposed to bubble up from under your skin. Where it was safe. And away from Verity. "It's your choice. Hell, get them both!" She teased. "There's gotta be a potion or something that will relieve the pain, right?" Or maybe a nice bottle of meade will do the trick. Verity wasn't serious in her suggestion, she just wanted to get off the topic of blood.

"No, don't say that!" Jory said, though he laughed. He had made the decision not to use any magical means to make it easier on himself, if he was going to have these piercings, he intended to work for them. "I'm only letting myself get one at a time, unless it's a pair." And the two pairs he had left to get would hurt, so it would be even better to do them at the same time.

Verity laughed and shrugged her shoulders. She looked up just in time to see a pair of shocked eyes before someone rammed into her shoulder as they walked past. It was an older, bald man, but he was gone before she had a chance to spit something dark under her breath at him. Bastard, she muttered anyways. She didn't recognize where they were at all, but she was far too excited to care. She was still debating whether or not she should stick with the cartilage and get the tattoo some other time or get the tattoo now and hold off on the cartilage. There were so many choices for a person as indecisive as Verity to make.

"So, we're almost there," Jory said, glancing around to see how close they had gotten. "Are you just getting the ear thing done? Ohhhhh, your hair's probably gonna get stuck around the earring." His was more than short enough that that wasn't a problem, that was definitely a good thing. He knew how much it could hurt getting a new piercing hung on something, and couldn't imagine having to deal with hair.

Verity grabbed her hair in a clump as her eyes grew wide. Not her precious hair! She loved her hair and she couldn't imagine having it in a ponytail for more than a few minutes. It drove her insane. "Erm...I don't know." She said, although if her hair really was going to be a problem, it made making her decision a lot easier. "I-I might just get a tattoo. Something small." Well, maybe not small. It was kind of pointless to get a small tattoo, but nothing huge.]

"Be careful, your clothes might stick to the tat," Jory said. "When I got mine my shirt got stuck to it once and I had to peel it off, so not fun." It had hurt quite a bit, but he had been a lot more careful about it after that had happened, so he supposed it wasn't entirely a bad thing. Besides, now he knew and could warn people that might not think about something like that.

Verity sighed. There was no perfect solution, but she's all but made up her mind to go with the tattoo. She could work around the clothing issue. It was hot enough these days that she had some shirts she could wear and get away with it. "I think I'm gonna get the tattoo." She decided. The more she thought about it, the more she wanted it so badly. She could get the cartilage anytime, but she wanted to give the tattoo time to heal before she had to get back to wearing those dreadful robes.

"Okay, just be careful, 'cause you're stuck with it." As far as Jory could tell, Verity had only just decided on getting a tattoo today, and she would probably end up with something out of the book that a ton of other girls had already. He couldn't stop her, though, she seemed dead set on getting one today.

Verity grinned. "I know." She promised. Her father used to ask her if she would ever get a tattoo. At eight years old and with wide eyes, she would answer no. When she was eight years old, the only thing she had wanted was a second pony. He would then reply with a Good. Because tattoos hurt, but it would hurt a lot more when I get rid of it for you. Somehow, remembering her father's disapproval made her want one even more. Not that that was the reason she wanted to get one. It was just a small part of it.
