Maverick waved his wand to raise up the converted chair to a height he could work on. "Want this all black or colored?" he asked, thinking nothing of pulling the back of her shirt up, which in turn brought the front up, a little further than necessary for the art. He brought the page over and laid it down on her skin, making sure it was level and even before speaking the spell that transferred the pattern. He let himself touch her skin a few times before he made the sacrifice of pulling on gloves.

"All black." Verity answered. She didn't want to have to deal with the colors and how they would look when they faded, even if that wasn't going to be anytime soon. Verity folded her arms under her chin and rested her chin on top of them. The way she felt the page against her smooth lower back, the way his voice sounded when he said the spell, and how surprisingly nice it felt as his fingers pressed against her skin made it all that much more real. She desperately wished it could be over already. She was far too anxious to wait much longer, but she took in a deep breath to calm herself.

Maverick settled down on his stool and went for the tool, it buzzed as he turned it on to pull up the black ink. He spread one hand out over her back and the other arm rested against her nicely rounded backside. "You have an amazing figure," he noted, then focused on the needles. "Here comes the first prick, try not to jump, it'll get worse the closer to the spine I get."

Verity didn't have a chance to say anything before the buzzing filled her ears. It sounded a lot closer than it was, as if it were right against her head and not behind her. Her hands balled into fists as she geared up for that first prick. Her muscles tensed as hard as she tried not to. It wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. Well, not yet at least. She had been expecting pain like someone took a knife to her back. It was hardly that bad and before it got worse, Verity could feel it. It was a rish, a high even. She was getting inked and there was no going back now.

Maverick worked in silence for a few minutes as he got used to working on her. "You're gonna come back and see me, aren't you?" he asked, grinning even though she couldn't see it. He wished he didn't have to wear his one glove so that he could feel her for real, instead of the weird covered version he felt as his hand moved over her back. And maybe it moved some of her hair, too.

Verity grinned, which was followed by an immediate grimace as the pain sharpened a little. The tortured expression passed over her face as she got used to the discomfort. So far the pain hadn't been unbearable and there wasn't any blood gushing from her. Things were going pretty well and not at all like the nightmare that formed in her mind. "Maybe." She said nonchalantly. She had fully intended on coming back for another one once this once healed up. "Are you gonna miss me?" She teased lightly.

"Of course, it's not every day I have such a beautiful body laying on my table," Maverick teased back. During an ink refuel he gave her a light prod in the side. "I bet the guys fall all over you. Might have to fight my way through for a spot." He didn't think he would have to do too much if he was fighting with a bunch of school aged kids, though.

This might the point in time when Verity would say something like You might have to fight your way to that spot through my boyfriend, but she kept that little bit to herself. Not that he couldn't fight his way through Leo. He was older and quite a bit stronger than Leo was. Verity just grinned and went on. "I bet you say that to all the girls that come around here." She said instead. Whether he did or not, it was still flattering. Her cheeks turned a shade of pink and she could feel the heat rising to the tips of her ears.

"Actually no, and that's no lie," Maverick said, shaking his head. Sure, he said it to a few of them, the few that deserved it, or when he was just really desperate to get someone up into his apartment. "You are one of a kind." So it was flattery, kind of. She was one of a kind in a way, he had really never seen anyone with eyes like hers.

“Thanks. You’re sweet.” Verity said as she bit down on her lip hard. Just as she thought she was used to the needle, she got a quick pang reminding her of its presence. But it was so worth it. She would have this tattoo, this symbol, forever and if nothing else, it would be something consistent in her life. She closed her eyes and tried to picture his gorgeous eyes as a distraction. However, no matter how hard she tried to paint his strong jaw line, soft lips, and brown eyes in her mind, she got familiar longer brown hair, softer facial features, and greens eyes. Her eyes flew open. Leo. What the hell was he doing invading her thoughts now? Before she could ponder it anymore, Verity opened her mouth again. “How long have you been doing this?” She asked to distract her from Leo, and from the obvious fact that there was still a needle in her back.

"Ten years, including apprenticing," Maverick said, leaning closer to Verity's back to focus on one of the more intricate areas, close enough for his breath to brush against her skin. "Beauts like you make me want to come to work every morning." He did love his job, but sometimes it wasn't quite worth getting out of bed in the morning. He was very glad he had decided to get up this time.

Verity could feel his warm breath against her skin, or at least she thought she could. She may have very well imagined it, but despite it having been a hot summer’s day, goosebumps appeared on her skin. She had grown probably more comfortable than she should have been considering she was lying on a table with her shirt pulled up far enough that there was hardly any point to wearing a shirt at all while an incredibly gorgeous and strong man worked on her. He said he had been doing this for ten years, which meant that he was older than she thought. Not that it mattered much, age was just a number and Verity was only having her bit of fun. “I bet it’s easier for you to get the girls in the door.” Verity said. “There are probably one or two girls out there walking around with more tattoos than they ever intended on getting because of you.” She teased lightly. Verity had been in the shop less than ten minutes before he had her thinking about what she wanted to get next.

"Like you?" Maverick asked, smirking. "Or have you always wanted a tattoo on your hip?" Not that he cared all that much, he would let the girls come in as often as they wanted. The more he got to touch them, the better, especially when they were young pretty ones like Verity. "I look forward to doing that one." Or them, he didn't know if she would stop at one.

Verity didn't answer him, but it was a good thing he couldn't see her face because by the way her lips pressed together in a knowing smile and the way her eyes sparkled, the answer was obvious. She knew that it was true that she had made the decision to get a second tattoo almost as quickly as she made the decision to get the first one. And because this time, it may have had something to do with him, not that she would ever admit that out loud. Verity decided somewhere in the last few minutes that she would wait to get her second tattoo. She wanted to have a chance to show off the one she was getting now first. "Me too." She said. She was excited that it would give her another reason to come back and another chance to feel his strong hands brush against her. Even if it wasn't much contact, it was enough.

Maverick was maybe halfway through the design, and needed more ink, but instead of standing he reached with his free hand to push against her and slide toward the counter, the touch almost teasing... Well, more than almost, considering how low he had let his hand drop. "Halfway there," he said, smirking to himself as if he thought he had gotten away with grabbing her rear without her knowing.
