Silver and Ayla had run around the fair together and done as much as they could while the sun was up. They'd had their dessert, and their thoughts had turned to other things. Silver wasn't willing to take chances and Ayla had agreed that it was worth a stop by the hospital wing. He was blushing, but he wasn't trying to justify backing out. The rewards were too worth the moment's confession to a woman who'd have forgotten him by the end of summer. Hopefully. "It should just take a few minutes, right?"

"Aye, c'mon, the quicker we get the stuff the better," Ayla said, giving Silver a teasing nudge. Now that she'd thought about it, she was kind of glad of her lack of experience. This whole thing was exciting and she was looking forward to learning more. She'd been to the hospital wing her fair share of times for various scrapes and bruises and wasn't particularly worried about the topic.

Silver debated grabbing Ayla's hand, then wondered if that would be too forward in the hospital wing, then decided that the healer would know what was going on anyway, so it didn't matter. He caught her hand and gave it a light squeeze.

Abigail came into the main room from her office, where she'd been researching potions, and gave a smile to the young couple visiting. "How may I help you?" she asked. Neither looked ill or injured, but she knew that not all maladies could be seen.

"Hey, we just need a potion or something," Ayla said. "Whatever it is you've got for birth control." It was better to just say it and get it over with. Maybe it would only take a few minutes and they could hide away in the Room of Requirement soon. It was still a little surreal what was happening, but that didn't dampen the excitement.

Abigail stood in shock for a moment before gathering her composure. She hadn't had a student, or anyone for that matter, be so blunt about their intentions. "I must ask you two what other precautions you are taking. There are far worse things out there than pregnancy, and the pregnancy potion doesn't guard against any of them."

Silver's light blush turned far deeper at the question. Did she really need to know that? "I... I thought the potion was enough," he said. He couldn't meet the healer's eyes, but his hand was frozen around Ayla's. Thank goodness for her ability to get straight to the point. They could be done with this that much faster.

"Well, it's the first time we've done anything, things just kinda happened," Ayla said, shrugging one shoulder. Maybe it had been stupid, but they were each other's firsts, which meant that it was pretty much impossible to get one of those diseases, right? She really wasn't worried and just wanted to get a potion and leave.

Abigail sighed, wondering why the schools didn't give sexual education classes like Muggles did. "The term 'sexually transmitted diseases' can be a bit misleading. They are transferred through various bodily fluids. This includes blood and in some cases saliva as well as sexual intercourse. For example, if I had a disease and was bleeding, there is a chance you could get it if you, say touched my blood with a hand you had a paper cut on. This is vary rare, but could happen. Either of you could have contracted a disease and not show any symptoms yet. It's always better to be safe than sorry."

"Then look and see if we've got anything? I mean, if we're clean then it's no big deal, right? It's just gonna be me and him. If they're a big enough deal to worry about paper cuts, then everyone would be taking a potion or something, even if they weren't sleeping around," Ayla said. She didn't intend to go through life worried that a bit of spit would get in a cut and get her sick.

"The potion must be taken at the same time every month to be effective. If you want it to be the most accurate to prevent pregnancy as you stated earlier, It needs to be taken in about two weeks, right after your menses." As Abigail gestured for the two to sit, she hoped they would take her advice on when to take the potion if nothing else.
Having finished the first series of tests, Abigail moved on to the pregnancy test. "It appears you don't need to worry about any diseases. However, should you change sexual partners in the future, you need to be aware that the potion will not protect you against anything other than pregnancy. You will need to..." Abigail paused mid-sentence as a positive result came back. Her eyes widened. Poor thing.
"I believe we have some other issues to discuss," she said delicately. Abigail decided to get it over with. "Unfortunately, I will not be able to give you the contraceptive potion today. It has come to my attention that you are indeed pregnant." The harsh words were spoken with the concern that lined her face.

Ayla laughed. "You're kidding, right?" The smile faltered when the healer showed no signs of joking. "No, c'mon, no way! It was this afternoon! And it was my first time! Run the test again." She wouldn't believe it, she couldn't believe it. It was a false positive, or the woman was trying to scare them into taking the potion. She rung her hands together in her lap. It couldn't be true.

Silver had gone pale, and stood with his mouth open, his hand only still curled around Ayla's because he was incapable of moving. "Run the test again," he echoed. There was no way. "Maybe there's some magical interference, there's no way." No way.

"The test doesn't monitor magic," Abigail said, "and I wouldn't kid about something like that." She did the test again to appease the two, but the results were the same. "It only takes one time to get pregnant. It appears you still have a full nine months if you plan to keep the child." Abigail hated even mentioning this option, but knew as a healer it was part of her duties to fully inform her patients. This was her least favorite part of her job, trying to counsel such young children on a choice that would change their lives.
"No decisions need to be made right away. No decisions should be made without considerable thought about it. I am available for you to talk to, unless you have someone else?"

Ayla shook her head, though she wasn't quite sure what she was shaking her head against. She didn't want this, she didn't want a kid, she didn't want to deal with this or have to give up on trying to model. "This isn't real," she said, pulling her hands up to dive into her hair, elbows on her knees as she gripped her hair tightly and shook her head again. "You're lying." She squeezed her eyes tightly closed.
