Ayla wormed her way around to peek into the curtain, too. "Hi, Professors," she said, giving Silver's hand a hidden squeeze. She supposed she should be happy she, at least, hadn't been given a dying friend's newborn. It was strange knowing she should be worried still or maybe freaking out a little when she felt no urge to do so just now.

Silver gave a nervous smile. "My girlfriend, Ayla," he said. Also as of a few hours ago, shortly after they'd made a really bad decision that had seemed really awesome at the time. He looked aside at her. Should we tell them? he mouthed. He didn't know. Maybe she would rather keep it quiet until she was ready, or maybe he would rather keep it quiet until he could get a yes on that marriage proposal.

Ayla wasn't sure as soon as he'd asked. On one hand, it would definitely make it more real. On the other...it would definitely make it more real. She bit her lip as she considered, then sighed heavily, shrugged, and nodded. They might as well get it over with and having someone else's input might be a good thing.

"Um, so," Silver started, his gaze dropping, then finding a very interesting piece of floor to inspect, "Ayla's pregnant." There was no better way to put it, it was easier to just get it over with and deal with what happened.

"It was an accident," Ayla said, wrinkling her nose briefly. She glanced away from the professors and up at Silver. Yes, it was an accident, and she only wasn't completely and totally freaking out because of the calming potion she'd been given. She needed to thank the healer for that.

Dare looked between the two in complete shock. He could tell by what he could see of Silver's face that this wasn't some kind of joke, but what did you say to something like that? How long had they been dating? How the heck had it happened? Well, the technical details were easy enough to figure out, but there were things that prevented that. He couldn't immediately make his mouth form words.

That was certainly unexpected. And Michael had thought the day couldn't get any more strange. "So, ah, what happened?" he asked, unsure how to handle his brother-in-law now being a father, especially when he only knew Ayla as a student. If they'd been dating for a while, surely he and Dare would have known, right?

Silver glanced up at Michael, and his brows drew together. Then he gave Ayla a somewhat helpless look. "We... you know..." However Dare and Michael had managed it, they'd done it the old-fashioned way. In a bed. Without a potion it turned out that they really should have gotten first.

Ayla looked up at the couple, keenly aware of their status as professors. "We just got carried away, and we were coming here to get a potion or something and she checked," Ayla said. "It just kinda happened. Sh~ luck and a bad decision." She couldn't believe they were unlucky enough for this to have happened.

Dare didn't think he wanted to know any more than that, and shook his head, at a loss as to how Silver, the smart one, had done something so stupid without thinking about the consequences. "So like, what are you going to do?" What was done was done. Did they at least have a plan now?

"I asked her to marry me," Silver said. He only flicked the briefest glance at Ayla before looking away, back down at the floor. "She said no, so like... I guess we're not doing anything." He could feel the disapproval, and he felt helpless to do anything about it. What could he do?

"We just found out like literally a few minutes ago," Ayla said, "and getting married just seems like this big huge thing and we haven't even been together a day yet. I'm not ready for all this stuff." She felt bad for not having said yes, even if it felt inevitable that they'd end up doing it anyway. She just wanted things to slow down for a little bit.

Dare was glad that the baby was lying in on the hospital bed beside him, because he might have dropped her otherwise. He gave a tense chuckle with no actual humor behind it and rubbed his hands over his face. Silver had asked her to marry him, and they hadn't been dating a day. He swore under his breath.

Silver cringed a little at his brother's reaction. "Well, I can't tell Dad if we're not at least engaged or something, you know he'd make us..." He cut himself off before he said something stupid in front of Ayla, or at least something more stupid than he'd already said.

"I just need some time," Ayla said, looking up at Silver. She'd never even planned to get married, never wanted to. "I gotta think, and chill, and try to like, not freak once this calming potion wears off." It was very likely she'd freak out anyway, no matter how hard she tried. She wasn't sure if she wanted to be alone or with Silver when it wore off.
