Totally Not A Date (Indigo/Jory)

"It'd be really good for, like, resumes and stuff, but you'd be stuck on campus a lot more," Jory said. He was glad he'd never gotten the position, though maybe it would have kept him out of Hogsmeade, he would never know. "If they offer it to you, don't turn it down just because you want to visit me more, though." He looked over at Indigo.

Indigo shrugged. "It's not just that," he said, though the glance he threw at Jory admitted that was part of it. "My parents would love it, but I don't even think I'd do a good job. I can tell someone to knock off throwing dungbombs or get back to their common room, but I don't care enough to do all that other stuff. Planning school stuff, taking House Points, I don't know." It seemed like it was Silver's life, and Indigo didn't want to get devoured by all that.

"I never thought I'd be a good prefect," Jory said. "I don't even know how I got put in Gryffindor, much less given the position. It turned out alright, though. I learned a lot and got a bit more confidence and stuff." It wasn't much confidence, it hadn't kept him out of harm's way, he'd still ended up with Emilian. "I think you could do it if you wanted to, but it's up to you." He turned them around a street corner and the body mod shop came into view.

"You totally belong in Gryffindor," Indigo said. "A lot more than I do. You're all out and open, and you're a badass friend and everything." He looked aside at Jory, sure he hadn't expressed himself as well as he'd meant to, but he felt it. Plus there was their little private loopholing of the rules. That had to be the most Gryffindor thing Indigo had ever done.

"I hid when I first came out because I couldn't handle it," Jory said. "And I, like, clung to Lyric for way longer than I should have and I ended up with Emilian and only got out because of Lyric. That's really Gryffindor." His eyes flickered up and caught briefly on Indigo's before he looked away again. He didn't feel very much like a Gryffindor most of the time. He was pretty sure he'd run away if a wand was ever pointed at him.

"You're about to get how many more holes poked in you for the hell of it?" Indigo teased. He wished he'd thought of that in the first place. He considered it a pretty good point, and gave Jory a light nudge.

That managed to make Jory smile. "Yeah, well, it's gonna look awesome so it's worth it. And you're here with me, so if it hurts too bad I can just squeeze your hand to death or something." He wasn't entirely sure that getting piercings was really a Gryffindor thing, but he didn't need to drag things down, so he let it go.

"I need my hands to type," Indigo said, realizing how lame it sounded as soon as the words were out. He glanced at Jory, but the sudden thought of what he'd like to do with his hands kept him from going on.

Jory laughed and shook his head. "Of course that's what you go to first off," he said. "You're great, you know that? Really great." For once, he didn't have any dirty thoughts running through his mind of hand possibilities. They reached the shop and he stopped outside the window, looking in. Though he knew he wasn't going to back out, he still couldn't help but think that this was his last chance to do so.

Indigo didn't know what he'd said that was so great, but he wasn't about to argue. Instead he stood there a moment—just a moment before he saw Jory's hesitance. "You've wanted them as long as I've known you," he said. "Excited much?"

"Yeah, and a little terrified. This is the most serious piercing I've ever had. And there's four of them." Jory intended to go with microdermal instead of full subdermal piercings, thinking they would heal better. However, that meant that there would be four separate things going on rather than just two larger ones. He was incredibly glad he would have someone with him this time.

"I'd tell you how hot I think they are, but that probably wouldn't help," Indigo said. He wasn't at all interested in seeing Jory get holes punched, but the results would be worth it. "Totally hot, though."

"Well, that helps," Jory said, grinning brightly. He took a last deep, bracing breath, then reached for Indigo's hand to pull him into the building. "Come on, you can help me pick out the jewelry." He'd been to this piercer before but he'd only ever briefly looked at the microdermal jewelry. He did know that the man offered a huge variety of jewelry and that made it hard to decide.

Indigo was way too happy at that seemingly casual contact. His smile might have been a little stupid as they walked in, though the moment he realized it he tipped his head forward, letting his fringe hide what it could. Being together was a secret, but he couldn't say no to this. He looked aside at Jory, holding that grin close.

The owner of the shop was nowhere to be seen, but from behind a half wall for privacy a few feet behind the counter came a buzzing and, now and then, speech. That was fine with Jory, it meant he could look at the jewelry in peace for a few minutes and maybe keep holding Indigo's hand. "Since I'm getting all of them done at once, I'll get a discount, which is good," he said. It was also probably helpful that he'd come here before. "I don't have any clue what to get, I like the stars, but I like the balls, too." The tops were displayed in a spinning case atop the counter.
