"You don't know me very well," Indigo said, keeping his voice down. He didn't want the girl at the counter to think any worse of him than she already did, and he knew she eavesdropped whenever she could. "Threw the first punch and everything." And damn had it ever hurt. It probably hadn't helped the Headmistress's wondering whether the school should go back to being all-witches, but he hadn't been thinking about that at the time.

"Yeah?" Jory asked, still not sure if he really believed it. Although...he really didn't know the guy and what reason would he have to lie? "What happened?" Tell me more about you. No. That was a bad thought. The last thing Jory needed right now was to let his mind run wild and trick himself into a crush or something. He pushed the thought away and waited for the story.

"Oh, uh..." Indigo looked back over his shoulder to make sure the shopkeeper wasn't in hearing distance, and she wasn't, so he glanced at Jory before turning his gaze more safely down to his laptop. wish i wuz there, id suck ur... u no! lol. He minimized Facebook. "This guy was di~ing around my friend. No one else was doing anything, and he wouldn't leave her alone, so..." He shrugged. "He didn't see it coming," he admitted.

"It's always good to stick up for friends," Jory said. If it wasn't for people willing to stick up for him he didn't know how much longer he would have been with Emilian, or how much worse it could have gotten. No, that was another thing he shouldn't think about right now. His list of things not to think about was slowly getting longer.

Indigo knew he should probably say something back to Jory, but he was distracted, both by thoughts of the fight, which wasn't anything as glamorous as the media made it look, and by the thought of that girl who'd said she was willing to go down on him. He knew she couldn't, she lived somewhere in Brazil, if he remembered right, but her picture was hot, and that was really enough. "So like, you have a lot of friends?" he managed.

Jory shrugged and looked away. "Not really. I have a few from back home, but I don't talk to them often anymore, and a couple here, but same thing. I kind of stay to myself most of the time." Especially since the summer. He didn't even go out anymore. Add to his general lack of friends the fact that most of the guys in his year had hated him from the beginning, and were annoyed with his prefect position, and it didn't make for a good friend-making zone.

"Oh. Sorry," Indigo said. Awkward turtle. His hand slid to the touchpad of its own volition and brought Facebook back up. What the hell do you say to a person who just told you they don't have any friends? He hit Post and hoped he'd get a reply before things got even worse. "Um, so like, what do you do when you're not... doing prefect stuff?" if its the snowstorm girl tell her u hav a lil friend who'd luv 2 meet her! No. Just no.

Jory shrugged again. "I practice my divination stuff. Astronomy, arithmancy...runes, those are connected, so they get attention, too. It's not a big deal, I've always liked that stuff. I used to drive my family crazy trying to tell their futures when I was younger." He really didn't mind being by himself, he had spent his first five years of school mostly alone, though he really did love having someone to talk to. Someone that wasn't Kane, that is.

"Oh, hey, you're in Cauldron, right?" Indigo asked, looking up from the crappy advice his Facebook friends were throwing. He minimized the page again, then reached aside, rifling through his pile with his left hand. "You said this month I'd be... what was it? It even has my name." He grabbed the magazine and started flipping through. "Perhaps you should take a break. Sometimes good potions need some time alone to simmer..." Maybe he didn't want to read this aloud or take it too personally. "Anyhow, I'm into potions, so like, it was interesting..."

"Yeah," Jory said, nodding. "But it doesn't mean like, actual potions. People like me that are into that stuff like to be all vague, it's fun. That was just like...they were all relationship related, so it's like don't push your relationship, let it grow on its own kind of thing." Then Jory looked away again. Maybe Indigo already knew that. "Um...you're in it, too, now that I think about it, right?"

Indigo nodded. "Yeah, you read it?" Indigo let Jory's clarification go. Yes, he realized it was a metaphor, but one that happened to use his best subject in school the same month that it used his name. He wondered how random any of those names really were, and if Jory even had anything to do with them. For all he knew, the names were thrown on after he'd finished the rest.

"Yeah, I like working on it, and the writing isn't like what's in the Prophet, not really, anyway." It was all gossip and stories about people, but it wasn't as...mean. "It's cool seeing people at school reading it." A wash of pride swept over Jory whenever he saw a classmate with their face buried in the magazine, or the corner of it sticking out of their bag. Sure, he only had a couple of pages in it, but that didn't make it any less of an accomplishment.

"Yeah, it's pretty cool," Indigo agreed. He flipped through a few more pages of the magazine, and at the ad for Mystical Magical Books, moved to toss it back onto his pile. His hand hit the cord to the lone earbud he had in, and as he tried to catch it, he knocked it loose, dragging his hood crooked as he struggled to quiet the blaring music. Looking up from underneath, as low as we are...
"Sorry! Sorry," he called back to the shopkeeper. Take it all... He hit the mute button rather than force his nervous fingers to plug his earbuds back in, then pushed his hood back.

Jory grinned at Indigo's mishap, but instead of commenting he took the opportunity to get a better look at Indigo. "What size are your gauges?" he asked, deciding that the piercing was a safer thing to note than how much Jory enjoyed seeing Indigo's profile. It was rare to see anyone at school with body mods, and he wouldn't even think of stopping himself from jumping on the chance to talk about them, even if it was just for a few minutes.

"Half-inch," Indigo said. "My parents won't let me go any bigger. They're all conservative, won't let me do anything that'll show up in pictures." They probably didn't even know he owned eyeliner, though his mom had stopped getting onto him about dying his hair when she saw how fast he could transfigure it to a 'normal' color. "What about yours? They don't mind?" Jory had multiple piercings, but maybe he hid them at home, there was no telling.
