"Yeah, all my books have tons of little scraps of parchment marking chapters and good pictures and that kind of stuff," Jory said. "Can you do anything with the maps on the computer? I mean, muggle pictures don't move, right?" Most of the illustrations in his books didn't move, either, which was a pain when he needed to see just a bit of a different angle.

Indigo's lips curved. "Ever heard of movies?" He opened Google in another tab and searched interactive solar system. Then he turned the screen slightly so Jory could see it better. About 6,660,000 results (0.15 seconds), it said at the top. "They're nothing like a wizarding model, but you can do stuff with them. You can look up the phases of the moon too, so like, I don't need a lunascope."

"Really?" Jory had hoped to have a lunascope at some point, but had settled with his charts. "Can we look at one?" he asked, though a moment later he dropped his eyes. "I didn't interrupt anything important, did I?" He had kind of just flung himself into the conversation without thinking. For all he knew Indigo was doing work of some kind.

Indigo remembered his blog post with a moment of surprise, but shrugged it off. "No, just messing around," he said. He scanned the top results on Google, then clicked on the one from NASA. "This should be good. NASA's the Muggles that send rockets up into space and stuff. Okay, so you can look at pictures of the planets and go on like, virtual tours and stuff. That'd be clicking through and getting pictures like you're walking around, but some of it would be what artists think it looks like." He scrolled through and clicked Interactive Gallery. He might have forgotten Jory was involved, but for the fact that he was still managing to talk.

"So muggles actually go up there?" Jory asked, his eyes widening as he saw a list of the features they could look at on one of Saturn's moons. He never could have imagined being able to get so close to things. It wasn't stars, but he could look at mountains on another planet if he wanted. "This is so cool..." For a moment he wanted one of these just so he could sit and go through all of these maps all day.

"Yeah, there are Muggles in space all the time, studying how things work. How old's your brother? He'll learn about some of this stuff. You said he goes to Muggle school, right? I did until I got my letter." And he'd have never admitted it if he didn't already know that Jory was okay with Muggle stuff. He had enough problems without fighting off the purists.

"Ant's nine right now, he hasn't shown any magic yet, we all think he's a squib. When he didn't show anything by the time he was six, my mum put him in muggle school just in case," Jory said. He would definitely have to tell his brother about all of this and instruct him to owl everything he learned. "What's muggle school like? He doesn't talk about it much anymore."

"Not all of them are boarding schools," Indigo said. How did you describe the differences? "I went to school in the U.S. anyway. We had one teacher and a desk that was ours, but we went off into other classrooms for like art and music. We had a class for math, and one for reading, one for social studies, which is pretty much Muggle history. P.E. where we learned sports. How'd you learn all that stuff?" It was something he wondered, but never asked. "I mean, you don't have to tell me or anything..."

"I was home schooled," Jory said. "As far as I know, most wizarding kids are. I think in towns where there are a lot of them, there will be like, a retired teacher or something that tutors them. Mum home schooled Ant, too, before she enrolled him in school, she probably still does some, like in history." He didn't feel like he was lacking at all for not having had a formal education before going to MI.

"So like, your mom stays home? Or does she have a job now?" Both his parents had always worked, though his dad was thinking of retiring early. He just couldn't imagine it. He closed the NASA site and went back to see if anyone had said anything interesting on Facebook. One of his friends from back home had piped up, srsly tho, u got head yet? and a few others had echoed the sentiment. Part of everyone reading his blog was, unfortunately, everyone knowing that nothing had happened with the girl at the counter past a really intense kiss. Day's still young, he typed, and hit Enter.

"She stays at home, she always has," Jory said, shrugging. "She never really wanted a job, I don't think." As far as he could tell, she had always been happy being at home and taking care of him and his brother. He couldn't help but read what was happening on the computer, it was all still so knew. He also couldn't stop himself from raising his eyebrow again, "Really, head? You just like talk to all those guys about that kind of thing?" Sure Jory talked to a couple people about it, but what this looked more like announcing it.

Indigo's pale skin turned scarlet, and though his eyes widened slightly, they were hidden beneath a fall of black hair as he hunched slightly with embarrassment. "It's all bullsh~," he said, though it killed him to admit it at all. "They don't know." They didn't know that he'd never been to second base, didn't know anything, really. Just what he told them. How had he managed to do this again?

"They don't know what?" Jory asked, turning his attention to Indigo instead of the computer. "I mean, are they your friends or are they just random people?" How did the computer thing connect people? Theoretically he could firecall anyone he wanted, but he had no idea how that concept translated to the computer. He shifted and pulled a leg up to his chest.

And there was one of the complexities of the Internet. "Some of them are friends from back home," he said. "Some of them are friends online, but they only know what I tell them. Some people..." Not me, really! "Some people like, pretend they're someone else. Like, you can be who you want to be." He suddenly realized he was saying all of this out loud and needed desperately to save some face. "I mean, they can ask whatever they want. What am I gonna do, punch them?"

Jory laughed a little and shook his head. "No offense, Indigo, but I can't really imagine you punching anyone," he said. The rest of what Indigo said was interesting. Jory thought of putting on a character for people he would never even meet. Well, at the very least it sounded like a fun way to pass the time in a place where there was next to nothing to do.
