After the incident in Hogsmeade, Lyric had decided not to stick around and wait to be caught. He'd taken the Knight Bus directly to London, and though he'd strongly considered going to find some things, to make some money and maybe hunt down a good free party, he'd ended up standing on the street a while, just considering.
He was in Diagon Alley now, having decided he could always go back to London later. He didn't want to be alone long enough to do any of those things, he wasn't used to being alone anymore, and he was finally starting to miss Shadow tagging along after him or leading the way, as if a cat had the right.
He wouldn't go back to school, though. He'd done something stupid and he knew it, and he didn't want to get in trouble, after all. Oh, he'd make good on his threats, that wasn't in question, but if he could put off the inevitable a while and enjoy some more freedom, all the better. He just wanted his freedom with company. He tried not to think about it.
It was probably stupid going to see Mano. Now that he knew what Mano had been doing with Jory while he'd been locked up in hell, he didn't think nearly so well of him, but that was who he knew he could find in the early afternoon. He knocked on the door and hoped for the best.

Mano wasn't expecting anyone, so he wasted no time getting to the door to see who it was. An eyebrow raised at seeing Trent before he stepped back. "Come in." He hadn't seen the boy in months, as far as he was aware Trent wasn't allowed out of the castle. It could always have changed, but he still wasn't sure why he would come visit him.

Lyric nodded, and gave a cautious glance down the street before accepting. If it felt weird being here, that strangeness was overshadowed by relief at no longer being alone with his thoughts. He didn't say a word, not yet, but slippeed in and stood, unsure what to say or do. He was more than a little surprised that Mano had let him in at all.

Mano closed the door quietly behind Trent and looked him over. "So, what brings you here?" he asked, gesturing for him to sit as he took his own seat on one of the couches. "I imagined they were still keeping you locked up in the school." He didn't want to run the guy off, but learning why he was there was high on his list of priorities.

Lyric looked briefly at Mano, then turned his gaze away as he moved to sit on the couch, leaving an obvious space between them. "They are," he admitted. "I needed out. I like, haven't gone into London or anything, though." He stole another brief look, then turned his gaze up toward the light hanging in the middle of the room. It was nice being somewhere different, and despite his current discomfort with Mano, he was comfortable enough here.

"Are you going to stay out of London, then?" Mano asked. He didn't want to get on the school's bad side, but if Lyric stayed here rather than going off and getting high again it was better than nothing. "You're always welcome here." He had told Lyric that during their first meeting, but Lyric had been taken away so soon after that the offer hadn't been used much at all.

Lyric shot another questioning look at Mano. He'd been sure that offer had been rescinded after what had happened the last time, and didn't know quite what to make of it. He looked away. "I don't know," he admitted. "I wanted to, but..." He shrugged, and his gaze dropped to the coffee table.

"You can stay here instead," Mano said. As long as no drugs were involved, he saw no reason to keep Lyric from coming, and kicking him out when something bad happened would just give him a bad image. "You've made it this long, haven't you? No sense in going back now." Of course, he didn't see Lyric being allowed out of the castle any time soon once someone found out he had left.

Lyric gave a one-shouldered shrug. Yes, he had made it, but it wasn't any of his doing. "They'll probably expel me," he said. If they tried to break his wand he'd run. He'd be even less of a nothing than he was now if he didn't have it, and he'd find one somewhere, and he'd hide out in London like he'd always said he'd do.

"Expel you for leaving?" Mano asked. "That would be a little counterproductive, wouldn't it?" Then Lyric wouldn't have any choice but to stay somewhere outside of school, and outside of school was temptation. He crossed his legs and put his arm up across the back of the couch.

Lyric kept his eyes carefully diverted, and when he spoke, his voice was low and unsure. Not because he regretted what he'd done—he'd do it all again in a heartbeat—but because he didn't understand how Mano didn't already hate him and always felt like the next thing he did would be the end of it.
"I... did something in Hogsmeade," he said, debating how much he should keep to himself. He couldn't imagine a jerk like Emilian wouldn't tell though, so it wasn't going to stay a secret. They'd all find out. "There's this guy, and he's been hitting Jory..." And doing other stuff, but Lyric didn't want to talk about any of that. It would only remind him how horrible he was that Emilian was better.

Mano's eyes locked on Lyric. "Who?" Was it bad that his mind immediately went to his friend? Sure, it was important to know what Lyric did, but if his gut reaction was right the man probably deserved every bit of it. It was usually right, not that Emilian made it very difficult to jump to that kind of conclusion.

Lyric shrugged. "Just some guy Jory's been seeing. He... this guy does things that..." He shook his head. "They've been doing things and Jory doesn't like being hit, but he'd rather get hurt as long as he gets... other stuff." Which was a hex to the guts, though he wouldn't admit it. "Anyway, he just walked up to me and when he said his name..." He shook his head. He didn't really want to talk about it, just think about how satisfying it had been without having to feel guilty.

Mano's eyebrows came together. "Was it Emilian, by any chance?" he asked. "If it was, he deserved whatever you did to him." He probably should have been locked away long ago. He probably should have felt bad for feeling that way about a friend, but he was about tired of Emilian's actions.

Lyric looked up, his eyes swinging to Mano. He nodded, too stunned to speak for a moment. Not only had he guessed, but he'd more or less absolved him of guilt. "I..." Lyric began. He looked away, trying to get the courage to say it, despite Mano's reassurance. "I broke his d~."
