Halfway done. It was pretty quick, not that she had really tried to estimate how long it would take. She was just excited about it actually being done. Verity was very well aware of the hand that pushed against her back a little lower than where he had been working. "How does it look so far?" She asked curiously. She would ignore the slip of his hand this time, not that she minded it. Something in her mind warned her not to push it too far, but it was too much fun.

"Hot," Maverick said, then stopped himself and shook his head, grinning. "Oh, the tattoo, I thought you were asking about you. The tat looks good, too." He gave another playful touch to her rear as he moved himself into position to start in on the second half of the tattoo. He was having too much fun with her...wait, no. He had a gorgeous, barely-legal girl on his table, he couldn't have too much fun.

Verity but her lip, turned her head, and shot him a surprised look before her face relaxed into another playful grin and she giggled a little. As soon as she felt her cheeks burn bright red once again, she turned back. Since when did she giggle and blush? She gathered up her long brown curls and pulled it over one shoulder so it wasn't in the way before he started on the second half of the tattoo. She kept her mouth shut. It was the only way she could keep herself from saying something dangerously stupid.

Maverick felt like his grin was permanently etched onto his face. "You act like you don't get the compliments you deserve," he noted as the needle started buzzing again. Flattery worked, compliments worked, not that he had any thought that she would forget her friend outside long enough for him to sneak up the stairs with her at any time today.

“You give a lot of compliments.” Verity said as if that was an answer. She got enough compliments, mostly from customers because those were who she was around for most of the day nearly every day. But those were either just polite have-a-nice-day-thank-you types of compliments or they came from creepy old drunks. This was different, it felt more real. “It’s just nice to hear.” The buzzing didn’t bother her as much now. It was actually kind of comforting. It was a sign that soon enough, she would have her tat.

"I give compliments where they're deserved," Maverick said, sliding his free hand that held the ink a little way over Verity's exposed skin higher on her back. "And if it helps me see you again then all the better." Maybe he could get a thank you kiss out of the deal, too. Now that would be nice. It would be more than nice if she decided to tell the kid to eff off.

Verity grinned. And there was another compliment which made her grin even wider. "How could I stay away?" She teased, though she was already figuring out when she could plan her next trip out there. Verity rested her chin on top of her folded arms again and closed her eyes. She felt something press against her back, but it wasn't low enough to be from the tattoo. It was a light touch, but it brought all sorts of dangerous thoughts to her mind.

Maverick might have slipped her shirt up a little higher, might have curved his hand around to her side a little more. She couldn't very well leave, not when he was so close to being finished, and he was more than willing to push his limits and see where she would stop him at. "You can't, I'm just good like that," he said. Well, at least he had a healthy ego.

Verity laughed at his answer. She was suddenly very aware that her shirt may have lost any purpose it had when she originally put it on that morning. It probably wouldn't have even made a difference if it was off or how it was then. She shifted her weight a hair, nothing noticeable and not enough to mess up his work, but just enough that he might feel her giving into him, playing along.

Maverick's eyes slipped up to the back of Verity's head and his lips curved when he realized that she was giving him permission. Too bad that just what he could do right now was limited by the ink in one hand and the buzzing needle in the other. Still, he let himself slip his hand up a little more, pulling her shirt along with it. He could at least take advantage of a better view. "How do you know Jory?" he asked, more to avoid silence for another few minutes than any real want to know.

His warm touch was a contrast from Verity's normally-chilled skin. She almost wished she had gotten some old, flabby, grungy, disgusting old guy to do her tattoo because it would make it a hell of a lot easier to just lay there. But she wouldn't trade what she got for anything, even if the temptations were reaching a new level of difficulty to resist. Jory. She had almost completely forgotten about him!! Her heart dropped a little knowing she wouldn't be able to stay and have a little more fun since he was still waiting for her. "He was the first person I met when I came to Hogwarts last year. If it weren't for him, I probably would have never come here." Verity said. She probably would have ended up going to some yuppy muggle place in London.

"Well, then," Maverick said, sliding his hand across her back. "I'll have to thank him when we're done." He didn't accept the kid any more than he had before, didn't want to be around him any longer, but the kid had done something right, at least. He blew lightly against her nearly-done tattoo, knowing the chill that came from cool air on wet skin, before starting in on the bit.

Verity nodded and giggled. "Yes, definitely." Goose bumps rose on Verity's skin immediately from that chilling breath on her back. It sent a shiver up her spine and caused her shoulders to shake for a brief moment. What did that mean? Did it mean it was almost finished? Verity's heart raced as the excitement bubbled up in her again. Part of her didn't want it to be over already, but the other part was too excited and anxious to see the final product.

"You don't have to be coming for a tattoo to come back and see me, you know," Maverick said, leaning a little further over Verity's back to focus on the last little bit of detail. She could come back whenever she wanted, his door would be open. As long as she came alone so that there was no time limit on her stay next time. "Of course, I'm definitely looking forward to your hip tattoo." He was more than ready to enjoy the other half of Verity's scenery.

Verity grinned to herself. “Maybe I’ll have to come back sooner then.” She said, a hand reaching up to tuck a stray curl behind her ear. Her mind was already figuring out when she could slip away from the shop, from everything else, and make her way back to the shop alone. Her eyes shone thoughtfully as she imagined just what would happen if she came back sooner, but the thoughts only made her grin even wider and brought a rosy tint to her cheeks. She was looking forward to her next tattoo, too, but she knew it would be a while before she would be able to let herself get it and she didn't want to have to wait that long to come back.
