"I've never really had the opportunity to lead," Dare said. "I mean, there's Silver, but he's my brother. Like he listens to me if he thinks there's another option," he scoffed. Yeah, maybe Silver did listen to him, but they'd been through enough that it just made sense. Dare didn't even think about it, it was so taken for granted.

Cassie nodded, listening. "Well you seem the type who would be a good leader, you listen to everyone and you seem fair" she said. She didn't know Dare that well, but first impressions counted for something. She smiled at him. "Being a leader can be tough, some people wouldn't listen as they were jealous I had been chosen as prima" she said shrugging, it hadn't bothered her, but it did show how hard it could be at the top, and Cassie always respected leaders because she knew what it was like.

"People can be idiots," Dare said, then gave a crooked half smile. "But if you look at them objectively, I guess they're not so bad to deal with." It was what he did, anyway, which he guessed explained Cassies' observation that he listened well. He tried not to let his feelings about people get in the way of how he treated them.
