Dru had went up to the Common Room after talking to Cassie in the library, hoping that the noise would keep her from thinking. After sitting for an hour, going insane from the mix of her thoughts and the noise, she had grabbed a book and went down the stairs to the grounds, hoping to find somewhere where she could have peace and quiet to read. It seemed an impossibility, the Forest was always full of people, the Room of Requirement was taken, the lake was too out in the open.
So she had settled for somewhere that she knew was rarely visited; the Greenhouses. She settled down against a tree, facing the greenhouses where she could look in on the plants if she needed a second to figure out a confusing plot line. She flipped open the book to where she had left off and tried to lose herself in the stories of the grumpy old dwarf and the mischievous little kender.

Silver didn't really have any goal in mind besides exploring the school. The phrase new territory kept floating through his mind, drawing the occasional absentminded curve of the lips, but no matter how true it was, it was still strange to think of. He'd grown up in the same house all his life, and here he was in a different country.
He'd found the greenhouses, at least. Silver turned around the side of one, looking for a place to settle for a while, and not really watching where he was going until he realized there was a girl nearby, and he was too close to just walk away without at least trying to acknowledge her presence.
He smiled, a gesture more than a sign of emotion, and raised the sketchbook he'd been writing in, half a greeting better than doing nothing. His eyes caught on the book she was holding and paused, curious, but not so much that he felt comfortable asking.

Dru felt someone close by, and saw movement in the corner of her vision. She marked her place in Dragons of Summer Flame with a finger and looked up. Her eyes went immediately up to his hair and she smiled, she had always liked long hair. "I didn't think people came down here," she said, taking him in. She liked his style, it reminded her of some of her friends from her old school.

Silver's heart beat a little faster at the way the girl looked at him, almost like she approved. He returned her smile, secretly thinking maybe Dare was right, and he needed to just get past his nerves and get a girlfriend, but that was easier said than done, since he couldn't seem to talk to them.
Still, he managed a few words now. "I'm just looking around the school," he said. "Haven't been here long." And he'd managed two more or less complete sentences. Silver's smile relaxed, less forced now at the thought.

He looked to be about her age, so Dru assumed he must have transferred. "Where'd you move from?" she asked, glad for the distraction of someone new. She set the book in her lap and lay her hands on it as she looked up at him. Chase popped into her mind, but she told herself that she didn't need to think of him, they weren't really together, remember?

"California," Silver said, relaxing a little. "Me and my brother Dare just got here last night, so I figured I'd, you know, look around..." Something he knew he'd already said. Silver shifted awkwardly on his feet, cursing his ineptness for about the millionth time that day.

"Sit down," Dru offered, gesturing to the grass beside of her, it meant anywhere around, but if he decided to sit right beside her she wouldn't push him away. "I'm originally from North Carolina. When I first came here it was so confusing." She couldn't remember how many times she had gotten lost her first few weeks in the school, not to mention the things with different names because of cultural differences. "So what's your name?" If his brother had a name like Dare, what kind of name would he have?

Silver sat as close to the girl as he dared, not quite where she'd gestured, but close enough that he didn't feel rude for the distance. "Sylvester," he answered, "but I go by Silver." He settled his long limbs in front of him, hands still on his makeshift notebook. "What's your name?" he asked, telling himself he'd memorize everyone's names if it killed him.

"Druscilla, but I go by Dru," she said, grinning at him, answering him the same way in an almost teasing tone. It wasn't a rude tease, she used to introduce herself the same way until she had given up and just started giving people that asked the name Dru. "Wow, you have great eyes," Dru remarked before she could stop herself. When he had been standing up she couldn't tell, but since he was closer she could see better. She almost looked away, just stopping herself in time and examining his eyes.

Silver smiled, the compliment bypassing his shyness completely. "Thanks," he said, not letting himself look away just yet. She had amazing eyes too, green ringed in blue, and he debated returning the compliment, debated whether he'd sound like he was just a copycat, but in the end, decided that saying something was worth the risk. "Your eyes are amazing," he said. What was her name again? Damn. Dru! All at once it hit him, and his smile widened with the minor victory.

"Thank you," Dru said, smiling and looking down for a minute. "So, is it writing or drawing?" she asked when she looked back at him, nodding her head towards the book he held. She felt relaxed, more than she had since before going into the library. Most of her friends that had dressed like him had been artsy, not that she was trying to categorize or assume, that was just how it had been with most of them.

"Writing," Silver said, his smile widening. "It's a sketchbook, though. Everything's all crooked cause there aren't any lines..." He looked down at the book, then back up at the girl. Dru, he reminded himself again. He nodded toward the book Dru had just set aside. "Do you write? Or just read? Not that reading's not good...on it's own..." Silver silently cursed himself.

"I used to quite a bit, but I don't have the time to anymore. I still read whenever I can, though," Dru said, her eyes sparkling in humor at his slight awkwardness, it just added to him though, she thought. "It's good to get away sometimes, you know?" That was what she had been trying to do before he showed up, not that she was complaining, the easiest way she knew to get her mind off of things was to get lost in a book.

Silver nodded, the awkwardness having passes surprisingly fast. "So what do you do? I mean, that you don't have time to write?" He couldn't imagine not having time. "I carry mine around with me. In class and everything." He felt naked without it, though that was a little much to confess.

"Well, I own the club down in Hogsmeade, so between that and classes," there's Chase. Dru paused for a second, debating mentioning him, then decided against it. "I don't have much time, and if I get on the team I'll have even less." She shrugged, "It's all good, though." Sure, sometimes she wished she had more time, but more often than not she enjoyed being constantly doing something.
