He was free. After a whole godforsaken month lying in a hospital bed, he had his wand back, not to mention a raise in status. Head friggin Boy. It brought a grin to his face. And who knew what was going on in the hospital wing right now? But then again, who cared? He was out, with the sun warming his skin, the breeze toying with his hair.

It was a nice day, almost perfect, the kind of day where staying inside would have been a crime. It was the type of day that Brooke thrived in, her white bikini top and mini skirt made her golden skin look even darker and the sun made her shine. She headed over to the beach and while she wasn't surprised to see someone else there, she was surprised to see a boy that she didn't recognize and she made it a point to always remember hot guys. She walked over to him with a smile on her face "Hey, haven't seen you around here."

Chase was already wired just on being outside, and the sudden feminine voice at his side caused an instantaneous reaction. He turned, his eyes reflexively slipping over her before rising to her face. "You new here?" he asked. It was the easiest explanation for why they hadn't met; if they had, he'd sure as hell remember her. Chase gave little thought to the wisdom of tempting fate. The last time he saw Dru, they'd all but broken up. He could look, entirely guilt-free. The ends of Chase's lips kicked into a smirk at the thought.

Brooke shrugged "Yeah I guess, though I've been here for weeks now." Time was kind of becoming a blur when it came to school and all the world surrounding it. Then again she hadn't really interacted that much with the surrounding world, Gabby and her run-ins with Vannah and Ryan not included, it was almost like the school had been dead or asleep.

"I've been out of commission," Chase said cryptically. It was all well and good to be pumped up about having made it through, but it wasn't something he'd brag about. Chase couldn't stop himself looking at the girl, at her sun-kissed skin hardly hidden at all by clothes. "What's your name?" he asked. Dru hardly registered in his mind. This was nothing. When it got dangerous, he'd think about her.

"Brooke, and yours?" Brooke said smiling brightly as she ran a hand through her hair. The out of commission comment made her a bit curious but she wasn't going to pry if finding out what he had been doing became important she would ask around to find out, but it really didn't matter right at that moment.

"Firebrand." He caught himself grinning, knew his eyes were gleaming with intent he shouldn't be feeling, but couldn't quite bring himself to tone it down. He was just flirting. "So, Brooke, going for a swim?" Chase asked. This was danger. He could see where he was heading, but wasn't ready to end it yet. He knew exactly where he was going, so he stop any time he wanted.

Brooke smiled and looked towards the lake "I was planning on it." She paused for a moment, she had heard some strange names during her time at her last school but she had assumed that it was just because they were all French, this had to be some kind of a joke. "Did your parents really name you that?" She asked at last she really wasn't sure how people could just go along through life calling someone that.

Chase's grin faltered. That wasn't the reaction he normally got. "It's my last name," he said. He normally used it for introductions because it was a hell of a lot more impressive than Chase. Usually, at least. "My name is Chase." And he was annoyed at having his newly-polished arrogance and sense of infamy dented.

Brooke leaned her head a little to one side "That makes a lot more sense, though I still haven't heard it before," She noticed that he didn't seem as happy as he had a moment before and came to a quick decision "If you'd rather me call you Firebrand I will, though I think I would shoot anyone who referred to me by my last name." And she meant it though her voice remained light the entire time, though in his favor Firebrand was a lot more interesting and dramatic then Davidson.

"Call me whatever you want," Chase said flatly. At this point, it didn't really matter. His game plan had been dragged through the mud with one simple question, and though he knew Brooke was trying to be friendly, the prick to his ego was going to take some time to get over. Besides which, he technically shouldn't have been working himself up to hit on Brooke anyway. He technically wasn't broken up with Dru.

"Ok, so do you feel like joining me for a swim." She said looking at Chase's face, or Firebrand's being that she hadn't quiet decided what she was going to call him, trying to figure the boy out. She really did hope that the question hadn't done any serious damage, she hated the thought of ruining a perfectly wonderful day before it had really even gotten started.

Chase looked away from Brooke to the water, total and complete temptation. It was probably cold, despite the warm air, and about every way he could think of to warm up was danger. I shouldn't, he thought. He thought of the last time he'd been in the lake, with Storm. This was dangerous. "Sure," he said. Chase firmly ignored his conscience as he looked back at Brooke, letting annoyance fade. He stepped back and bent to strip off his boots.

Brooke smiled at his response even though it was expected, she hadn't known many guys who would turn down a offer to swim by a girl dressed in a bikini. She pulled off the skirt to reveal matching bottoms and dropped the skirt on the ground before taking off her sandals and letting them rest beside the skirt. She took the opportunity to look at the boy, he was hot without a doubt and he had such beautiful hair. "Ready?" She asked with a smile.

Chase looked Brooke over again, his lips curving despite his best intentions. "Not yet," he said. Chase tugged his shirt off and dropped it carelessly with his boots. "Now I'm ready." He was just going to have some fun. It wouldn't go any farther than that. Chase arched a teasing brow at Brooke, then turned and took a running leap into the lake just for the hell of it. His body slipped beneath the water, then reappeared a short distance away, where he treaded water.
