Dru stared at him for a moment, "You obviously didn't talk to Savannah about him," she said, and if he had there was something definitely wrong. Granted, she had been getting the feeling that something wasn't right with Chase...

Chase's eyes flared again, crimson seeping through his irises like lava. "She told me to mind my own business," he said, biting the words out through his teeth. And then, before he'd had a chance to do something anyway, he'd been distracted, thoroughly distracted. And he'd forgotten. Chase's jaw was set in new anger, at himself as much as anything else.

Dru stared at him, confused. If he knew what had happened, then why had he said that Emilian didn't sound so bad? "Are you ok?" she asked, something had to be going on, why else would he be acting that way?

Chase's head was low, letting his hair hide his face, the gleam of the lie in his eyes. "I'm fine," he said, "just tired." He turned to Dru, wrapping his arms around her, and pulled her close, too close to see his face as he buried it in her hair. "It's been a long day," he murmured. Longer than she needed to know. He couldn't stop thinking about Storm, no matter how hard he tried, but he couldn't just end things with Dru. His arms tightened, as though there was nothing in the world but the two of them.

Dru felt only slightly comforted with his arms around her. She didn't want to pull away from him, but at the same time she couldn't resist. She looked him in the eyes, "Are you sure?" she asked, bringing her hand up and smoothing down his hair. The "I'm tired" bit didn't seem enough for her.

"It's been a long day," Chase repeated. There was no lie there, nothing to make her suspect. God, how could he feel so guilty for something he didn't regret? Chase lowered his mouth to Dru's, the kiss a distraction, a comfort, a test. He had to know, wanted to prove to himself that he'd told Storm the truth; he and Dru were going nowhere.

Dru returned the kiss, still not fully believing him, but willing to let it die for a little while. She wrapped her hand around the back of his neck and pulled him close, letting her other arm snake around his waist. The doubt still danced in her mind as she wrapped her fingers in his hair.

Was this it? Was this the reason he'd given up every other girl in his life? For a kiss? A kiss that said quite plainly that there was something between them, something they hadn't explored, something that taunted him. Chase speared one hand into Dru's hair, angling her deeper into the kiss as all the tension he felt focused on her. His other hand slid down her back, rising again just beneath the hem of her shirt. He let go of thought, but Storm was still there, constricting his chest, making it hard to breathe as he kissed Dru with everything of his soul that he had left.

The kiss felt different from the others they had shared, though Dru couldn't quite put her finger on why. She opened her mouth, her tongue meeting his lips as she tried to stop thinking, knowing that she wouldn't be able to really get into the kiss if the thoughts kept running through her mind.

It was hard to forget, when he could still smell Storm's hair, still feel her. The kiss grew more intense as he sought almost desperately for distraction and comfort that he didn't deserve. And yet, through the desperation, his body tightened at Dru's touch. One hand slid up her abdomen, then farther, purposefully courting danger. There had to be more. He needed more.

Dru shifted, sitting beside of each other wasn't exactly the best position to be kissing in, but didn't push him away. She wrapped her arms tighter around him, the hand around his waist edging up under his shirt. There was a part of her trying to convince that annoying part that always made her stop to just let whatever happened happen.

Chase's brows knit with frustration and desire, and he shifted, guiding Dru to lie back on the wide bench. The position triggered a spark in his mind, but he only kissed her harder, pushing past any hope of thought.

The 'stop' part of her mind sent off alarms, but the other part was slowly winning out. Her hand went farther up his shirt and she broke the kiss, bringing her lips to his jaw, tracing the bone with her lips and tongue.

Chase forgot himself completely with Dru's response. His hands moved more firmly against her, ignoring rules and boundaries to touch her, paying little attention to the momentary disruption of clothing. He concentrated on sensation, forgetting whatever strange moment had pushed them past the norm.

Chase's hands caused a light gasp to escape, but the 'stop' alarm had been turned off, and she made no move to stop him. "Chase..." she said softly in response to what he was doing. She buried her face in his neck, her lips meeting his skin whenever possible.
