"I don't know how well I'd do with horror," Jory said. He wouldn't say no if Indigo wanted to see it, though. It wasn't like he knew much about movies. "It's up to you, pick whatever you want. Oh! But we have to get some of that popcorn, though." Though he wasn't sure what made the popcorn special, it was one thing he distinctly remembered from his last movie experience.

"Yeah, you've got to have popcorn at a movie." Half the time Indigo got candy instead, but if Jory wanted popcorn he'd buy a big tub of it to share. He reached into a back pocket of his jeans and pulled out a slightly tattered wallet with a cartoon pinup girl on it and reached inside for a folded piece of notebook paper. He stuffed the wallet away again and started unfolding the notes he'd written down. It was hardly readable even to him, but he managed.
"Evil Dead is out," he said. "It's a remake of this really famous movie so it's got to be good. Mud is about a guy who says he's having visions, but you've got to remember this is what Muggles think it is." He glanced aside at Jory, then looked back down at the paper. "21 and Over is about a guy who goes on some wacky adventure with his friends when he turns twenty-one. Twenty-one is legal adulthood in the United States." He offered the paper in case Jory wanted to see it.

Jory reached for the paper and eyed it, but looked back up at Indigo after a minute. "I won't understand any of them we see, will I? I mean, I haven't been completely cut off from muggles, but there's still a lot I don't know. I don't have any muggle friends." Maybe he should get muggle friends, it would give him a wider view of the world.

"If my mom gets a hold of you, you'll get a crash course," Indigo said. He looked back at the paper and tried to think which one would make the most sense. "I don't know. Mud totally has actors I know in it, but Evil Dead is like, a classic. Well, the original is. We could wait until we get there, look at the movie posters to decide," he suggested.

"We could," Jory said, handing the paper back. "Lead the way. Do you watch movies a lot?" He slid hooked his thumbs into his pockets, resisting the urge to finger his new piercings. The bandages covering them probably helped. He couldn't wait until they were properly healed. Plus, by the time they were healed he would be at university, and that was definitely something he looked forward to.

"Only when I'm home," Indigo said. "Movies are a big thing for Muggles. If you've got a little money and some time, or if you've got a good Internet connection, it's a good way to pass the time. I don't get online enough during the school year to sit in the ice cream shop for two hours watching movies, though." He had Facebook to check up on and blogs to write, just to start with.

Jory gave a theatrical sigh. "If you can get on your computer at Valfirdu, I'm never going to see you," he teased. He could see it now, Indigo visiting only to sit himself on the bed with the computer open on his lap for hours on end. Well, he doubted that would actually happen, but that didn't mean he couldn't tease a little.

"I can do my regular stuff when I'm not visiting," Indigo said. He glanced aside at Jory, thinking of what he could do on a visit with his laptop, but couldn't bring himself to say it. It had really only been mentioned that once, and if there was anything besides how nice it would be to make out that would be inappropriate to talk about with a teacher, adult websites had to be near the top of the list.
He looked away and withheld a sigh. "I take notes better when I can type them out. It'd be cool if I could take my laptop to class or something, even if I couldn't get Internet."

"I still don't understand how you type like you do," Jory said. It still amazed him when he saw Indigo's fingers flying across the keyboard. "I wonder if the professors there are as confused about muggles as a lot of other magical people are." So many people were so confused when it came to muggles they barely functioned around muggle things.

"Probably," Indigo said. "They'd have to have a good Muggle Studies teacher, though. Maybe I should go into Muggle relations or something." Not that it particularly interested him, but he'd be good at it. "The more I think about things, the less I know what I want to do. I'm still trying out Divination and Transfiguration though."

"Whatever you go with, I'm sure you'll be brilliant," Jory said, looking over at Indigo. It wasn't an incredibly long walk to the movies and a few minutes later they arrived at a strip of a building with show times and posters hanging on brick. "Did you figure out which to see? My part of this not-date has already been finished up."

Indigo's lips curved, and he shook his head at the way Jory had just said it, like they weren't kicking dirt all over the line between okay and not okay. He looked around at the posters, some for movies he hadn't paid any attention to when he'd looked online, and eyed the two he'd narrowed it down to. From the look of it, it was Matthew McConaughey or a creepy little girl stumbling through a forest. Last Chance, a small sign declared. Indigo couldn't resist the lure.
"Evil Dead," he said, and looked aside at Jory. "It's like, a cult classic. I guess if we're going to get you into Muggle stuff we've got to start somewhere."

"Okay, then," Jory said. "But if I get terrified, it's your fault." The more he was around Indigo, the more willing he was to push boundaries just a little, even if it was only words and a light touch here and there. The end of term couldn't come soon enough. "Are horror movies as bad as seeing a boggart?" He'd never seen a boggart, but he'd only ever heard they were horrible things.

"Depends on if your worst fear is demons," Indigo said, widening his eyes and pretending to grab at Jory. He grinned at his own tease, then gave a shrug. "It all stays on the screen," he said. "If you're afraid you'll pee yourself, just close your eyes." He gave a little half-smile.

Jory tipped his chin up. "I'll be perfectly alright," he claimed. "I am a Gryffindor, remember?" He turned to join the line waiting to get tickets. He could survive whatever the movie threw at him, right? Yes, of course he could. It almost made him laugh, he was so not brave. He could pretend for a little while, at least.
