Mari's eyebrows creased and he glanced down. "Just my jacket and a shirt," he said. "What are you talking about?" Layers? Wasn't it just supposed to be put on a big coat with some gloves and a hat? Well, Indigo was was wearing a hoodie, but Mari had just decided at some point that Indio simply liked wearing hoodies and wore them often.

"Layers," Indigo repeated. He looked around, then lay his coat over the nearest rack and reached for his hoodie. He pulled it up enough to show the shirt under it, then the shirt under that, until he got to skin. "It like, traps in warm air," he explained. "A regular t-shirt isn't going to keep you warm."

Mari's eyes caught on that bit of skin for the moment it was shown and then lingered before his lips quirked into a smile and he looked up at Indigo again. There was no feigned innocence. "Oh, I guess that makes sense," he said, considering. Piling on blankets worked like that, not that he'd ever needed to do it very often. "Will you teach me how to layer?" That time, he did feign innocence, though the spark in his eyes gave away whatever tease he was thinking of.

Indigo smiled as he looked away, cheeks heating. He shifted his weight and ran a hand back through his hair. Why did it sound like something else when Mari said it like that? "I'll, uh... help you out," he said. His face reddened further at the way that had come out, and he shook his head. He parted his lips to make a correction, but words failed him so he just grabbed his coat.

At the dressing rooms, Castiel had quite a few things picked out, and Markise had been explaining layers to him as well. He typically wore a couple, but apparently neither of them were going to keep him warm. Well, he could confirm that, so he didn't argue.
"Mari! Look at this!" He gestured as soon as he saw his friend. "I'm wearing three shirts!"

Mari grinned at Indigo and just barely kept himself from stealing a quick kiss before he turned to Castiel. "We are gonna go through so many clothes," he said when he crossed the room to find his friend again. He glanced back toward Indigo. "Seriously, how many layers is normal, anyway? Am I gonna look like a sumo wrestler?" Maybe he'd have to, since he was so much more sensitive to the cold.

"Just... as many as you need, you know?" Indigo said. "Like, a few around the castle, and a couple more if you're going out." How did you explain something like that? Then again, maybe they'd need four or five layers just to get to class every day. Indigo wasn't sure just how cold they were, since it didn't bother him much.

Markise explained about layering as simply as he could, pointing out some of the things Castiel had picked out. "It matters what order you wear stuff in," he said. "If you're wearing a see-through cotton undershirt, it's not going to help at all." He used what Castiel was wearing as an example. "His base layer is light-weight, but if you're walking to the greenhouses in the snow, you'll want something heavier."

Castiel was in raptures at being Markise's mannequin, and he couldn't stop grinning. He proudly showed off all three of the layers he was wearing. They added some bulk, but he was slender enough that it didn't matter. He thought it made him look like maybe he'd been working out a little.

Mari could see how excited Castiel was, but honestly the thought of buying more weather appropriate clothing was more interesting to him right then. "I've gotta figure out what to get," he said, even if he really wasn't so sure what he was supposed to be getting, even with Markise's instruction. Should he get a coat first? Or should he get the first layer stuff first? He didn't know where to start.

"You need some long underwear or something," Indigo said. He grabbed a package to hold up, and his lips twitched when he saw how... colorful they were. His brows drew together and he turned the package around to look, but they were guys', despite the pink tie-dye.

"Oh, I could totally rock that," Mari said. "Especially if I got to show it off, don't you wanna see me strutting around the common room in that?" He reached for the package and held it up against him, raising a teasing eyebrow at Indigo. "I'd have to go somewhere Castiel could see, too." He wouldn't run around in public for real, though, he did actually have pride in himself.

Indigo turned pink, and leaned in to point at the picture rather than look at Mari. "No one's gonna take a guy with a frikkin... codpiece seriously," he said. Not that he had anything to be ashamed of personally, but he couldn't imagine actually letting anyone see him like that.

"Codpiece?" Markise left the goth boy to go investigate. Those were the most hideous undergarments he'd ever seen. He'd be having a talk with the stock girl. He did not carry things that would make his customers look like morons.

"I wasn't talking about being taken seriously, Indigo. But it'd be pretty funny," Mari said as Markise looked at the package. He wouldn't really buy them, though he definitely considered it just for the fun of it. "Besides, I've worn super weird stuff before." Like ears, people always looked at him weird when he wore ears, it was one of the reasons they were tucked away in his trunk.
