Dare entered the shop with a bag tucked under his arm, enough food inside to feed multiple people, though he intended to do a number on it himself. He wasn't starving like he used to be after a night with Michael, but this had been emotionally exhausting more than anything. Still, with as much exercise as he'd been doing lately, he'd been eating more.
He was quiet and thoughtful as he raised a hand to Matthew in greeting. He was fairly certain he'd be explaining why he hadn't come home after the party last night, but it was early enough that he'd hoped maybe he could slip into his room unnoticed.
Damn, he'd left Elouai behind, he realized. He'd have to go get her later, probably with a brief scroll telling Michael whatever Mistress V told him to pass on.

Matthew had gone out the night before once Rhys left. He'd called a friend and met at a bar for a couple drinks, though he had kept his wits about him and come home in enough time to have enough sleep for working the next day. He opened the shop a little earlier than usual and he hadn't given any thought to the absence of Dare or Elouai until the man walked in the door.
"How was your party thing...you just got back?" Yes, something else to focus on rather than his boyfriend running off because of some serious head problems and an argument. Still, he couldn't help wondering what else Rhys might have told Dare over the past weeks, or maybe even months. His eyebrows creased and he pushed the thought from his head as he leaned against the counter.

Dare blinked at suddenly having to register words, and only gave Matthew a glance before looking into the shop. Heat stole up his neck into his face, and he took a deep breath, then headed for a table.
"Uh yeah, the party," he said, trying to find one train of thought among the many to go with. He set his bag down, pulled out a chair, and slumped into it. "Everyone showed up, Michael's mom didn't kill me, everyone got along. The twins were happy, and everyone left happy, and Michael kind of cornered me... andIsleptwithhim." He busied himself with the suddenly fascinating roll of the top of the bag and started pulling things out.

Well, that news was enough to distract Matthew from his thoughts. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" he asked. He wasn't sure exactly what the situation was between the two of them, but it really couldn't be a bad thing sleeping with his husband, right? He glanced toward the door and then rounded the counter to join Dare at the table.

Dare's lips quirked, despite his mixed feelings, and he shook his head slightly. "You can have some if you want," he said offhandedly, giving himself just that long to think.
"It was good," he decided. "It makes things a hell of a lot more complicated, but..." He shook his head again. "He cornered me and we started talking, and we got to where we were about to blow up at each other, or I was, and he was like, We'll talk about this later, which never happens. So I told him to come watch me with Mistress V." He reddened and grabbed a hot croissant, leaving the rest in the bag to take a nice, distracting bite.

"You know, that might help," Matthew said, eyeing the bag. He wasn't sure if he was ready to eat yet this morning. The night before greasy bar food had been welcome, this morning he just felt a little sick. "I mean, I sat in on a couple of sessions with Rhys, then there were a couple of sessions where the Dom was training me, I think it helped." It was a different situation, but it could still help, he thought.

Dare glanced over at Matthew, then tore off another piece of croissant. He hadn't even considered it as training, he'd just thought that he could show Michael exactly what he was getting into. But training. He couldn't wrap his mind around Michael accepting any of it.
"I told him he'd have to leave his wand behind. If he got pissed off and decided to stop things, it'd be a mess." And although Michael had never been to Azkaban, there'd be no excuses for hexing a Muggle.

Matthew raised an eyebrow at Dare. "Is he really that dangerous? If he is, you should probably have someone there talking him through it," he said. He couldn't imagine Michael being dangerous like that, but he also knew that people could do strange things when they saw the people they loved in certain predicaments.

Dare looked across at Matthew. "He was a Death Eater," he reminded the man. "He'd be in Azkaban now, but he turned himself in to a professor who just happened to be in the Order of the Phoenix, just happened to be an Auror almost officially, and just happens to be dating the Headmistress. That was all before I showed up, and I've only seen him... lose his temper like that once." Dare looked away. "That's another story though. It takes a lot to break him, but once he's there..." He left the rest unsaid.

Dare could say Michael had been a Death Eater all he wanted, but Matthew still found it hard to believe that the man was dangerous. Maybe he had been one of those wimpy death eaters that just hung on the outskirts. "Okay...so do you think there should be more than one person there to watch him? Or is he only super dangerous with his wand? I mean, it was hard for me watching some man beat the hell out of my boyfriend and I knew what was going on."

"Grabbing his wand is a reflex. I don't see him trying to put someone in a headlock or physically hurting anything, but for a long time, hexes came really easily," Dare said, trying to explain without saying too much. "Take away his wand and I don't think he'd do anything.
"Besides, Mistress V's good at talking through stuff. I'll ask her if we can do it, and try to get extra time so we can walk Michael through the contract. I wouldn't just have him sit there not even knowing what's supposed to happen." He didn't know what Mistress V would decide, but he was sure about that much.

Matthew nodded and leaned back in his chair. "Good luck. I don't mean it sarcastically or anything, but I really hope you two can work everything out." Things Rhys had said the night before floated in his mind, but he shook them away. "I think him seeing will be good." He did, even if he didn't know Michael and Dare as well as some people did.

Dare nodded. "It should make something happen, one way or the other." He couldn't imagine Michael ever being able to do what Mistress V did, but he could easily picture his husband storming out partway through and refusing to ever have anything to do with it again. He wondered if he'd end up a hunched old wizard still paying for a woman to knock him around and get him off. That was just sad.

"Are you ready for whatever happens?" Matthew asked. "You can still stay here as long as you need, if it goes that way. But, you know, he might surprise you, stranger things have happened." Like a man having twins. He still couldn't quite wrap his mind around that, which was strange considering he was a wizard that magicked his way through a brick wall every time he wanted to go somewhere.

"Michael getting a personality switch isn't going to happen," Dare said. He'd opened up a box of breakfast foods and begun working his way steadily through it. "But it wouldn't be fair to him to just keep him in the dark about everything." Whether or not he thought it was possible to save things between them, he did still love Michael, and wouldn't throw him away.
