Dare hadn't been here just for coffee in ages, but Michael was busy at home, so he'd decided to go out and enjoy himself. He had his sketchpad under one arm and was waiting at the counter for his drink to be finished. He wasn't wearing his professors' robes, just his usual clothes, fitted jeans, a band tee, canvas shoes, and arm warmers. He figured he could spend a couple hours here and be perfectly happy.

Tori had never been in the store before, but had passed by it several times. She was wearing a t-shirt with puppies, khaki shorts, knee boots, and a trench coat that fell down to where to her ankles. She walked in with a cane and a bit of a limp and said, "Hello."

Dare turned to see who had greeted him, and it took him a moment to place her face. "I've seen you around Hogwarts, right?" he asked. He hadn't seen her in any of his classes, though. That was why he wondered if she was a student, a professor, or a visitor to the school. "Nice shirt, I'm a dog person, too."

"Yes, I'm supposed to be a student, but I had twins and just recently had surgery on my right leg. I'm an all around animal person, but mostly I rescue dogs and sometimes cats." She said. "I just recently found a bunch of puppies and kittens in a storm drain not too far from here, eventually I want to be a vet who works with small animals, I really bad dragon during my first pregnancy and don't really want to talk about it."

"The pet shop is for sale," Dare said carefully. He didn't want to offend her, but he wasn't entirely sure what she didn't want to talk about. He thought she meant she didn't want to talk about being pregnant, or about dragons, so he'd be sure not to mention either of those things. He did wonder how many kids she had, though.

"Yeah, I know, I'm thinking about buying it. It's ok to bring up kids, just not the dragon thing." She said. "I have 3 kids from 2 different relationships and I've spent a really long time getting over the first relationship which is why I don't talk about the dragon thing."

"Okay," Dare said. The more she mentioned the dragon thing the more he wondered about it, but he'd keep his mouth closed about it. He looked up as the person behind the counter handed him his drink. "Are you getting anything?" he asked. "We can talk or something if you want to, I was just going to chill out here for a while." Three kids from two relationships. And she had twins, too. Dare didn't talk to anyone else who had kids, and he was curious.

"It's a complicated situation and it's taking me a long to get over it. All I'll say is that my first boyfriened's dead and leave it at that. Yeah, I'm not really hungry at the moment." She said.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Dare said. "Uh, were you getting something to drink, then? I was going to go sit down somewhere, but I'll wait for you if you want." It seemed like there was a lot she didn't want to talk about, and he wasn't sure what he could say to her at this point.

"Yes, well, that's when I met my ex and at first things were going great, then my "step-dad" got invovled and things have gone from bad to worse to horrible in a matter of 2-3 years." She said. "Not quite yet, I have an issue that a lot of people think I'm insane about, I'm allegeric to nits and so I have to be as careful as I can be. I probably shouldn't even standing right now, I'm supposed to still on bed rest, though with my ex, he can't always be with me at times, so if I needed something I would have to sometimes get it myself and I think I reinjured something last night."

Why would someone expose themselves to allergies and go walking around Diagon Alley when they were supposed to be on bed rest? Dare decided not to ask, and instead gestured to a table right next to them. "If you're supposed to be resting, maybe you should sit?" He pulled out a chair for her, just in case she might accept his offer.

"Um, I ran out of milk and my ex is being his normal stuborn self and won't answer his phone, which is both normal and scary 'cause he could be just about anywhere and anything." She said chuckling as she sat down in the offered chair.

"Do you need help?" Dare asked. He sat across from her, then lay his sketchpad on the table and took a quick, bracing drink of coffee, not that he needed the caffeine. He wished he could help. It sounded like she was having a lot of trouble, and it wasn't in his nature to ignore things like that.

"Before he was my ex, he was my friend, but lately things have gotten more complicated. Yeah, um, he tried to kill me with my alaram clock, I mean he didn't actually do it, thankfully, but yeah, that's why he's my ex. I don't think he realized that it was me until I started screaming and that's part of the reason why I say it's scary that he's not answering his phone. He sleep walks and one night, I found him in my bathrobe sleeping with one of my dogs thinking it was me." She said chuckling and wiping her eyes as she realized that she was crying. "We live together, but that's only so that I can keep an eye on him, when he's around. He's gotten help, but I don't think it did him good."

Sleeping with one of my dogs. Dare didn't know what to say about that, or even what to think about it, but there was no missing her tears. He grabbed a handful of napkins from the dispenser on the table and offered them to her. "Don't cry," he said. "I'll help you, do you want help finding him? Do you want me to go with you to get milk?"
