The Dog Days Are Over (Evan/Jory -corridor)

[Evan Rachel Woods]

Evan, still taking in the room, the musky smell and the empty feeling of the room. "I agree, but sometimes its just not fair. Can I ask what happened last year? You dont need to tell me anything, I can understand that." Evan walked up between a few desks to where Jory was and watched him attentively.

[Jory Addison]

Jory looked down at the rune book he had pulled from his bag and his hands slowed. "It was a bad non-relationship," he said. And he had been so stupid to go along with it, but he hadn't felt like he could get out of it. He probably would still be visiting Hogsmeade often if it wasn't for Lyric. He didn't realize when he remained silent.

[Evan Rachel Woods]

"Im sorry for probing and upsetting you Jory." Evan felt bad she had just made it awkward between them and they had just met. Evan went and grabbed a nearby chair and carried it so it was on the opposite of the desk so she had something to do.

[Jory Addison]

"Oh, no, you're fine," Jory assured. "You weren't probing. I mean...it was in the Prophet and everything...he was abusive, is all." But now he had someone new, and it was going great. Well, new was relative. He finished taking out his book and absently flipped through pages while pulling out a bag of stones.

[Evan Rachel Woods]

"Ah right, well I dont read the papers, they are usually all filled with gossip and it brainwashes people into what to think. I stay away from them. Well I wouldnt have took any notice about it, he just wants to sell the paper." Evan smiled a friendly smile to Jory hoping that it would cheer him up even slightly. "Oh so what are these for?" Evan asked while picking up the bag that Jory had pulled out.

[Jory Addison]

"It's a new set of rune stones I got," Jory said, pushing away the memories of Emilian's abuse. "It's a big set and I don't think I know all of them, I was going to check the ones I don't know in my book." So classes were over, but all of this was more than a class or a hobby, it was a passion, he really did love it.

[Evan Rachel Woods]

"Wow they are beautiful." Evan said is awe. "I hope Im not giving extra studies to do when all the classes are over." she joked, she remembered doing a subject like this in her previous school but this was around the time she had left.. Evan pulled her chair in closer to the desk as she was fascinated with all these new things.

[Jory Addison]

"I just really like this stuff," Jory said. "It's my specialty, I'm really good at divination and the stuff that ties into it." He found the glossary of runes in the book and looked up at Evan finally. "What do you like? I mean, most everyone's got a class they're really good at."

Evan looked into Jorys eyes as he looked up, they were so full of different emotions, love, despair, everything but he showed now of it on the surface. "Em.. Potions is my kind of thing." she replied after a while, "well I hope it still is, I havent been in school for over 2 years." Evan looked down nearly ashamed of it, she didn't want to be seen as uneducated or stupid to the other boys and girls her age. "I used to pass all my potions exams, thats one i rarely had to practice for." She added giving Jory a weak smile.

[Jory Addison]

"That's cool, I was never really good at potions, I dropped it as soon as I could," Jory said. "So why haven't you been in school?" He couldn't imagine why anyone would be out of school for so long, but he also knew that a ton of stuff could happen to people and sometimes it was hard to continue on as normal.

[Evan Rachel Woods]

"Its kind of a long story involving my mother and father and moving around a lot! Like this is the first place Ive been in more than 2 days." Evan tried to sum up with out giving too much away, she just wasnt ready to spill out her deep and darkest secrets at this moment. She hoped maybe Jory's cards and stones could answer anything of her worries, a little hint would really help her. "Well I love potions I love just mixing and chopping all different stuff up to creates things that can kill, cure or something extraordinary." Evan flicked her hair from her face over her shoulder as it was getting in her way, it was getting warm in this hidden room with no windows.

[Jory Addison]

"I always messed something up, I couldn't concentrate long enough to do a potion right," Jory said, shaking his head. Then he chuckled softly, "Yeah, one time the stuff poofed out this cloud of black smoke. My teeth were black for a week." Well, he had only been a second year then, and no one paid enough attention to him for it to really matter.

Evan laughed, "Thats why I like it cause you cant let your mind wander and you have to concentrate." Still watching what Jory was doing, taking in all that was happening, "I have to get back into the swing of things, I can barely remember certain spells." So much for being a witch, Evan thought.

[Jory Addison]

Jory nodded and reached out to pull out three stones. "Yeah, I have trouble remembering all the stuff I know, like all the runes and all the signs you can get in tea leaves, there's so much." He didn't pay much attention to them as he absently glanced over the three, then there was a pause and his eyebrows came together. "Well, that's weird..."

Evans heart stop, oh no what has he seen? All horrible images burst through her head, oh no what could it be? Trying to keep calm and balance her breathing that had seemed to increase, she said "What? What's weird?" Evan leaned across the desk looking at the stone to see if there was anything there that could have caused that comment without having to relate to her.
