The Dog Days Are Over (Evan/Jory -corridor)

The dog days are over
the dog days are done
the horses are coming
so you'd better run.

There was a light bounce in Jory's step as he made his way to an empty room he'd commandeered at some point. Classes were over, him and Lyric were getting along just fine, he was keeping busy with the shop in town and with his prefect duties, and just maybe he was considering another piercing. He was out of room, really, he was almost through his list already, but maybe he would talk to Lyric and get advice on what to get next...

Evan was taking her own tour around the school as she had arrived only a day or two ago and she still hadnt explored yet. She admired all the suits of armor and moving paintings in every corridor and was in her own world. It was such a bright day and it made Evan happy even though she missed her mother. She turned down a deserted corridor (or so she thought) and wasn't paying attention to what was going on...

Jory rarely paid attention anymore, people tended to stay away from him and he seemed to have developed an extra sense for trouble. Trouble didn't include running into someone when he was digging through his tarot cards walking down a supposedly empty corridor. "Oh my-I'm so sorry!" he said, jerking his head up, eyes wide as he automatically reached out for the girl he'd run into. "I totally wasn't paying attention."

Evan taking completely by surprise herself also apologies, "No I'm sorry, I should be even more careful." Her own reflexes caused her to put her hands out and lightly grabbed the boys arms, she glanced up at the boy and took in his handsome features. Feeling the blood rush to her cheeks, Evan quickly let go of the boys are and avoided his gaze.

"Oh, no, it's totally me," Jory said, smiling and shaking his head. "I get all into my cards or whatever and then I'm, like, blind to the world." He looked down and straightened his cards, making sure none had made their way out of the stack, before looking at the girl. "Oh! You're new, I was told about you. I'm Jory, I'm a prefect, Gryffindor."

Evan was relieved the boy was so friendly, she needed a kind face around this new place. She giggled, "Yes I'm the new girl, thats all I've been hearing the past few days. Pleased to meet you Jory, my names Evan, Ravenclaw. She held out her hand to make the meeting formalish.

Jory grinned and took her hand. "Well, it's cool to meet you." He ran his hand through his short hair, ruffling it up a bit, before dropping it down to the rainbow charm on the end of his necklace to play with it absently. "So what are you doing over here?" he asked, tilting his head. "Ravenclaw tower's on the other side of the school."

Glad that Jory had took her hand, Evan was slightly more calm around him. "I'm giving myself a tour and hope I'll be able to get back to the tower afterwards." she laughed. Getting distracted by his fidgeting with a weird but quite interesting necklace she than asked, "Em.. What are you doing in a corridor with a deck of cards?"

"Oh, well, there's this abandoned classroom down this hall that I hide away in a lot. I'm really into, like, divination and stuff like that and I take my stuff in there sometimes to mess around. These are terot cards my aunt gave me when I was little, she always wished she was a seer," Jory said, holding up the cards for a moment for her to see.

Evan was amazed, "Wow thats wonderful. May I ask if you would read mines?" she was always interested in spirits and the unknown, she hoped it may also answer a few things that she kept locked away and that one day someone may know the answers.

"Well, you don't really read minds," Jory said. "I mean, you kind of...experience a mind, like being in a play. But no, I can't. I'm not a legilimens, probably never will be, it's, like, really complicated magic." It would probably make life a ton easier to be able to do it, though. Maybe someday he could try.

[Evan Rachel Woods]

"I meant the tarot cards" Evan luaghed. "I dont think I would like someone going through my mind." Evan had seen some horrible stuff that she wished she could just forget. Shaking these thoughts from her head she than added, "Where is this room, I was just down there and I didnt see anything like that?"

[Jory Addison]

"Oh, well the cards don't read minds," Jory said, stopping in front of an ugly mustard yellow and pea soup green tapestry. "They can tell the future and the present and the past, but they're about...events, not what's in your mind." He pulled out his wand and waved it and the tapestry parted in the middle to reveal an old door. "Here," he said, stepping in and waving his wand again to turn on some lights.

Evan followed him in, "Wow this is some castle." she was amazed at the hidden secrets of this mysterious school. "Well Id like to no more of the present, I have no idea what it is I am really doing here or in this life. Ive had enough of dwelling in my past." Evan took in the tapestry as she many need it someday.

"Well, everything happens for a reason," Jory said. "Even if it's something that really, super sucks. I mean, I had a pretty bad term last term...for most of it, but if all that bad stuff hadn't happened, I wouldn't be where I am now, so-" he stopped and shrugged. He sat his bag down on the big, abandoned teacher's desk at the front of the classroom, his cards by it.
