"Hells offered to erase the memory of the..." Vannah then realized she hadn't really ever said it out loud, "...the rape." The words were heavy on her tongue and left a pain in her heart. The second time, Vannah repeated it more slowly as if she herself were just hearing the news for the first time as well.

"I told her I'd have to think about it." Vannah said shaking her head. To anyone else, it should seem like an easy answer to an easy question, but to her it was more difficult than that.

"I don't know what to do." Vannah confessed. "I want the nightmares to end. I want the feeling that haunts me to go away, but I don't want to loose the memory. I feel like I need it. I know it sounds crazy, but in a way it has helped me. I know how to make it different now if I needed to." Vannah looked at him. "What do you think I should do?"

Ryan sighed and looked at her "To me it seems like you should let her erase it but it is your choice. If you believe it has helped you then maybe you should keep it."

Vannah sighed. "You're right, but I'm not sure how much longer he will be here. It didn't sound like much time when Hells was talking, and if he's not here maybe it won't be as bad. Easier to forget on my own if I needed to." Mostly Vannah was just talking to convince herself it would be a good idea.

Ryan looked at her "I know that there is no way i will ever fully understand the pain you have went through, but in my opinion I would probably erase it if I could."

"I don't even know if the offer is good anymore. I was supposed to go back the day after I left. That would make it..." Vannah counted the days in her head. "About four days ago now." She didn't bother to say anything about her procrastination or that she hadn't just realized that the offer may not be good anymore, but she had hoped. Vannah knew she couldn't tell Ryan that, so she kept it to herself.

Vannah was quiet for a moment. The silence soaked through her and the air was so thick with thoughts it almost suffocated her. "What are you thinking?" She finally asked him.
