Chase actually got up this time, and fast enough that he was able to reach past Druscilla, his hand landing on the door with a thud to hold it shut. If there was one thing that annoyed the hell out of him, it was a total blow-off. "We're not finished talking," he said, his voice low, but coated with almost tangible anger.

Dru nearly jumped as Chase was suddenly beside her. She looked at him, her eyes slightly narrowed. This was not where she had wanted this to go, he seemed suddenly dangerous. "I thought," she said, relieved that her voice was level, "That you didn't even want to talk to begin with."

"I said I'd talk," Chase practically growled. "We're talking now. What else do you want?" Since you don't want to snog, he added silently. Chase didn't move from his position holding the door shut, and intended to stand guard as long as he needed to so they could have this out.

"Yes, you said you'd talk, and we did talk, I said what I wanted to say," she shrugged. "Now if you would oh so kindly step to the side..." Dru wanted out of the room as quickly as possible. "Unless you have something you want to say to me, that is."

Chase glared at Dru, his eyes simmering with shades of dusky red and maroon. He wondered if he knew what she wanted to hear, but knew he wouldn't say it. He wasn't even going out with those other girls, so why would he tell her he'd dump them? Long, tense moments passed before Chase realized he couldn't possibly win this time. He relaxed his arm against the door and stepped aside as he pulled it open for her. "I'll see you at the club," he promised. A sheen of crimson flickered across his eyes at the words.

Dru raised an eyebrow. The last thing she had expected him to do was open the door and say see ya later. She looked into his eyes for long moments before speaking, "Yeah, I'll see you around." She stepped through the door, fighting the impulse to look back at him to make sure he wasn't going to try anything with her.

Chase stood in the doorway watching Druscilla walk away. She'd agreed to see him again, so it wasn't a total loss. It wasn't a retreat so much as a time-out to let things cool off. He'd only let her go because she asked. He wasn't a womanizer, despite what people seemed to think. He didn't take anything that wasn't offered freely, and Dru's company had no longer been offered to him.
((If Dru manages to walk away without looking back, then this'll be the end of this thread, I guess))

Dru made it to the end of the corridor and snuck a look back at him as she turned the corner. With that glance, she realized she was looking forward to another meeting with him, whatever happened to happen.
((it can still be the end if you want it, I can start an open thread in the bloody mary *shrugs*))
