All Brindle had wanted was to talk to the Potions professor for a few minutes, and that much she'd accomplished. It had been the most random question, but she was bored out of her mind and she couldn't imagine the professors were much better, so she'd headed down to the dungeons.
She rarely ever came here, though. When school was in session, it was easy enough to follow the same path back and forth between the classroom and the upper levels of the castle, but there was no one here, and so every corridor looked the same. She was starting to worry. She might even have been a little tense over whether she was going to miss lunch because she couldn't find the Great Hall.

Leo knew just about everyone that was in his house, if not nearly everyone that frequented the dungeons outside of class, but when he turned the corner he knew he had never seen the girl before. He might not have given her a second thought a few weeks before, but he had become much more aware of females in general since meeting Verity. "Lost?" he asked as he came up beside her.

Maybe she was more tense than she'd thought. That one word and the sudden feel of someone behind her had been like a lit match to dynamite. KEEEYAH! It was a simple move and an effective one, if she'd correctly judged where he was. Her goal: throw him to his back hard enough to knock the wind out of him. She would not be a victim.

Leo didn't have time to react before the girl did exactly what she intended. His eyes widened up at her and he gasped, coughing a second later as his eyes burned from the impact. "Okay, not lost," he managed finally. Remind me never to help a girl again. Well, he certainly hadn't expected that.

"Ohmygosh, I'm so sorry!" Brindle cried when she saw the boy. She glanced behind her to be sure they were alone, then got to her knees. "Are you okay? I'm sorry, I was lost and I guess... a little nervous..." Like he couldn't tell. She wasn't entirely sure what to do, but her slender hands found their way onto his chest, straightening his clothes as though that would do him any good on the ground. Her vivid blue eyes shone with worry, and she told herself to pay more attention to her surroundings in the future. "You surprised me," she finished somewhat sheepishly.

Leo shook his head and reached up to wipe at the corners of his eyes. "No problem." He coughed a couple more times before pulling himself up. "Where did you learn that?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he reached back to straighten his back, hopefully working out any kinks that had come from his landing.

"California," Brindle answered, pulling her hands back to herself after a moment. "There's a squib on Diagon Alley who gives lessons." It seemed ridiculous to be talking about that right now. "Are you okay? You looked like you were having trouble breathing there." All her aggression was out right now, and all that was left was a slender blonde with a concerned face.

"I suppose that means you did your job, right?" Leo asked, then took a deep breath just to see if he could. He was glad to find himself successful. "Of all things, I would not have expected to be thrown on my arse by a pretty girl like you." He managed a smile then, as if to prove that he was okay and that she didn't need to keep on being all worried about him.

Brindle's lips curved, and she caught herself giving a little laugh, then dropping her gaze as he cheeks heated. Stop being such a girl! she reprimanded herself. He was cute though, and she'd just hurt him, if temporarily. And purposefully. She forced her gaze back up, then pushed to her feet and offered him a hand. "If you'd been attacking me you'd be sorry now, right?" she teased. And was she flirting? There was that heat again.

Leo took her hand and pulled himself up, smiling again at her blush. "I would be sorry, very sorry. I think anyone would be out of their mind to willingly attack you, even not knowing you could lay them on the ground." He never really got the whole fighting thing, but he supposed it was better than being helpless. Only once he was finished speaking did he release her hand.

Brindle's heart was fluttering. She might have chastised herself again, but she'd just noticed the color of his eyes and she had such a weakness for green eyes. Her hand tingled as she brought it close to her body, the fingers of the other hand almost shielding it, as though that brief contact had been too much. Or maybe that girly part of her that she hated so much to acknowledge was holding on selfishly to the feeling. "Apology accepted," she said with a slightly breathless chuckle.

Leo was probably enjoying this girl's little mannerisms a little too much, but he had barely paid attention to girls at all before the past couple of months, there wasn't anything wrong with paying one a little attention, was there? "I'm Leo, by the way, and your name would be?" He was probably having too much fun with this.

"Oh, um, Brindle," she said. She let go of her hand to extend it again for a reflexive handshake. "Brindle Sterling. And I was a little lost... Just trying to find the way to the Great Hall." Was it too much to hope that this boy with the longish hair would show her the way? After you knocked the wind out of him? she asked herself. Probably.

Leo couldn't help it, he shook her hand and brought her knuckles to his lips in a small bow before releasing her hand. "Well it is nice to meet you Brindle, Brindle Sterling. Do you want me to show you to the Great Hall?" he asked. It was simple enough, really, but he figured that most of the school thought all of the dungeon corridors looked exactly the same.

Brindle hoped she hadn't giggled at that soft press of his lips, but whether she had or not, she was breathless and grinning. Who did things like that? And why did something so little make her feel so giddy? Her fingers curled into her palm as she brought her hand back, breathless and unable to speak just yet. She nodded, her entire face warm, her hand warm, everything a little warm as she forced her mouth to work. "That'd be nice... I mean, helpful." She only just pressed her lips together to keep from going on.
