Leo grinned and soon was laughing along with her. When was the last time he had actually laughed? He never laughed, not really, it was so....freeing? It felt good to do this with her. The with her had been added without thinking about it, but it was true. "Well, at least I know I can make you laugh," he teased, still chuckling softly.

Verity's laughter became lighter and lighter until it faded into a mere grin. It wasn't hard to make her laugh, Verity was hardly a serious person. However, since she had gotten that last letter from her father, she found herself laughing less. It was a nice release to laugh, not having to force it. It made her forget everything she wanted to and focus even more on the evening. She longed for a moment like that again. "Yes, you win." She joked in reply.

"Of course I win," Leo said, still grinning. "I'm just good like that." The spark in his eyes gave away the tease, but wasn't everything said in jest now? There were no more angry or frustrated retorts. "I just hope you don't get tired of me any time soon." That was the truth, he definitely wanted to be able to spend more time with Verity.

Verity shrugged coolly. She flashed her eyes at him for a split second before looking away.Verity didn't want to admit that the briefest thought that he might want to see her again sent her heart racing. She sat back and fingered her necklace, silent for a few moments. "And why is that?" She asked, a playful smile dancing across her lips.

"Well, I certainly hope this won't be the last time we meet," Leo said, smiling. "As long as you don't mind I would love to see you again, perhaps even regularly." It was too soon to be asking that, he knew, but it was hard not to want to say it anyway. He had no intention of telling her that he hadn't exactly had anyone he had been interested in before.

Verity smiled and bit her lip...perhaps even regularly. It was that last bit that caught her. It sounded like another word equally frightening as the word future, was commitment. Over the years, Verity was never given the opportunity to commit to anything: her friends, her new friends, her even newer friends, the community she was living in, anything extracurricular at school, let alone any relationships. She was always so careful not to get attached to anything, it made it easier to leave it all behind. But it was different at Hogwarts. She wasn't leaving any time soon. She had already committed to running the Three Broomsticks, made a couple of friends, but she couldn't wrap her head around making these dates a regular thing. It's not that she didn't want to, she reminded herself, it was just that she didn't know if she knew how. Verity suddenly began to wonder what it would feel like, taking those walks by the Lake. Her eyes met his, "I would love that." She said finally.

"Well, then," Leo started, his smile softening at Verity's words. "How about we meet up at the lake on Friday night." Wasn't there some rule against planning the second date before the first was over? Ah well, if there was he didn't particularly care. This was going very well and he was definitely looking forward to their next meeting.

There was something that told Verity that Friday wasn't any good, but she couldn't remember exactly why Friday wasn't any good and since she couldn't remember it, it must not have been important. "It's a date." She said, grinning at this point. One of Verity's weaknesses was that she spoke without actually thinking. In this case, she finally realized what she was supposed to be doing on Friday night. It was the busiest nights at the Three Broomsticks. This thought flashed across her mind once before she shoved it out of her thoughts completely. She could always leave one of the new girls in charge. They were learning fast, they would be fine, she convinced herself. Verity kept her smile, not letting it falter or showing any signs of hesitation.

Leo never had anything to do on Friday nights, so he had no fears of something interrupting or coming up. For the moment, he couldn't think of anything else to say, everything was going so well and they had already talked about so much, even if they hadn't been there long. How long had they been there anyway? It felt like forever and only a few minutes all at the same time.
