"Maybe he'll understand."
Lily thought that over, yes maybe James would understand. He was very mature for his age; then again James was wired a lot like their mother who worried and did not handle Lily being a witch very well.
Lily started to pull out a piece of paper. "Do you think i should write to him? I mean, i did write to him. But...i want to tell him."

Ani really had no idea. She had no idea how to handle telling someone she was a witch. It was jsut expected in her family. Every one knew she was a witch. She hadn't really met anyone who was purly muggle and knew nothing about the Wizarding World.
"I have no idea." Ani shurgged. "I've never told anyone. I think it'd depend on how you think he would take it better."

Lily pulled out a quill and pressed it against the paper until the ink drew a hole in the middle. She was slightly frustrated, how could she tell James? What would Mum and Dad do when they find her owl perched outside the window? Would they read it before he could?
She sighed shakily. "Okay."
And she began writing... Dear James...It wasn't much, but it was a good start.

Ani sat back satisfied that Lily was going to tell her brother. she may have helped much but she was still greatful things were going to work between them. She'd do just about anything to spare anyone from the same relationship she had with Chris. Exculding sex and murder of course.
Ani thought maybe she should leave Lily alone so she could come up with a thoughtful and wonderful message. Something her brother would appreciate. But she wsn't going very far. She stood, walked to the other side of the corrider and sat against that wall a small smile around her lips.

Lily looked around to make sure Ani hadn't wondered very far. And she didn't so Lily was very relieved. But where would she begin?
Dear James, So you're probably wondering where I am right now. Well, remember when the couch caught fire on my birthday party? Well...it's because I'm a witch, James. I've wanted to tell you since I found out, but I figured it would scare you. So now you know. Please, don't take this the wrong way. I hope to see you soon.
"Okay," Lily said, showing Ani her letter. "I think its done. You want to read it?"

Ani really wanted to read it. Really really wanted to read it. But she also wanted to respect Lily's privacy. It would be rude to read it espcially since it was going to be very personal. It had to. Didn' it?
Anu shurgged. "I don't want to invade your privacy."

Lily appreciated that Ani didn't want to be nosy, but she figured Ani was itching to read it, and Lily didn't mind sharing. So, generously she offered the letter to her.
"Are you sure? It's kind of short; you could be my proofreader if you want."

Ani beamed. She was elated that Lily ws going to let her read the note. In all honesty she was regretting her behavior towards Lily. Ani was wrong about her. She wasn't very Gryffindor oreintated and definatly wasn't that bad. For a Gryffindor. Heck it was almost okay to say that they could possibly be friends in the future.
Ani grabbed the note and read it. She didn't see any spelling or grammar mistakes and she was very touched by Lily's sincereity. She was sure that Lily meant what she said.
"This is a very good letter." Ani smiled. "Wish i could write that way to my brother."

Lily smiled. Suddenly, she had an idea.
"Maybe you could write to your brother." She pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Ani. "It's not hard. I'll help you if you want."

Ani appreciated the fact Lily was trying to help. But her and her brother's relationship wasn't already royally screwed. They still had a shot at being close. Ani knew there was no way that Chris would forgive her. Not for all the wizarding cards in the world.
"Thats sweet." Ani smiled. "But it won't help. He won't open anything written by me."

Lily looked crookedly at Ani. "Really? Well, why not?"

Ani shrugged. Obviously when Lily fought with her brother it was much different. When Ani fought with her brother it was total war. They wouldn't speak for days, he'd pee all over the toilet just to make her mad and she'd glitter his binders. She'd do her chores and he'd undo them and vise versa. Nothing was safe and nothing was sacred.
"Cause its got my hand writing on it, and mentions me." It was true. She'd tried to whole send a letter thing. He'd gotten it, glared down the table at her and ripped it up.

Lily really wanted to help Ani, because she bet herself that Ani really did want to work it out with her brother, she was just afraid to admit it.
"Well...what if i wrote it? It wouldn't be your handwriting, and i could make it not sound like you either."
Lily didn't know how this would work out, but she'd figure it out...hopefully.

Ani thought that having Lily write it would be an excellent idea but Chris was smart. He would figure it out. She knew he would and then he'd never speak to her again. she would rather die then have that happen. Besides things would go back to normal about two years. Ani woudl graduate and Chris would be free to live without her for a couple of years.
"I appreciate the offfer." Ani made herself sound as geniune as she could. "But to force him into it wouldn't work. He's clever enough to figure it out and things will work out. They always do."

"Okay, i understand. Some of them are really smart at that age." Lily said as a third year Ravenclaw walked past her with his bangs fried. "Most of the time."
