"No, they've got a ton of departments," Jory said, though his mind was more on replying Jamie's laugh than anything else. He liked Jamie's laugh, just like he liked Jamie's smile. A smile spread over his own lips as he thought, not realizing that he forgot to speak. Conversation was coming easy between them, and so he felt no pressing need to realize he wasn't saying anything.

Jamie enjoyed the silence. It was relaxed, not awkward. He opened his eyes and pushed himself onto his elbows. His eyes trailed over Jory's body, lingering longer than they should have. It looked like the perfect picture, he was lying down on the couch but he looked perfect. A smile spread across his lips. It was nice having a friend he could talk to easily.

Jory felt those eyes on him before he realized that Jamie had moved, and only then did he look up, feeling hidden heat wash up his chest to barely peek up over his shirt collar. "What?" he asked, though he smiled and moved one arm from beneath his head to rest it across his stomach. He loved the feeling of Jamie watching him. No one ever looked at him like that, at least not anymore.

Jamie chuckled lightly. "Nothing," he answered. It took a whole lot of effort, but Jamie looked away towards an corner of the room where a couple of spiders had taken up residence. There seemed to always be a lot of spiders at Hogwarts, for some reason. "What do you do for fun, besides hanging around the lake at dark and Divination?" Jamie teased lightly. He probably shouldn't have mentioned the lake part because as soon as it came out of his mouth, his mind flash backed to that night. It made sitting on that desk a lot harder as he had the urge to join Jory on the couch.

Jory's teeth momentarily found his bottom lip and he lowered his eyes as his own mind flashed back to their first meeting. He turned on his side and bent his knees up, leaving one arm beneath his head and the other draped across his waist and down his stomach. "I like piercings," he said, bringing his eyes back up. "I have a tattoo, but I like piercings better." His fingers lightly played against his shirt, where his still-unpierced belly button sat.

"Piercings are..." Jamie searched for the appropriate word,"...interesting." He concluded. Personally, he didn't understand what the big deal about them was. His sisters had all gotten their ears pierced when they were too young to be able to remember it now. A couple of his sisters had all sorts of piercings: belly ring, tongue, cartilage, eyebrow bone, and probably a few other places he didn't want to think of at the moment, at all.

Jory's eyes dropped. "You don't like them?" he asked. Eros had been more interested in his tattoo, maybe piercings weren't as popular as they were in his own mind. Maybe he shouldn't want the ones he wanted, but he loved how they looked in the pictures he had seen. His fingers slipped absently just under the edge of his shirt to lightly touch his belly button.

"Nah, it's not that I don't like them," Jamie said shaking his head. "I just don't understand them. Why is it so appealing to punch holes through yourself and fill them with metal?" Jamie cringed. He was beginning to sound like his mother. "I guess it works for some people. A couple of my sisters seem like they come home with a new piercing every week. Doesn't it ever get uncomfortable?"

Jory shook his head, then brought his eyes up to Jamie again. "No, but I haven't been able to get anything other than my ears done. I think they look good," he said. "I really wanted to get my belly button done for my seventeenth birthday, but I didn't have anyone to go with me, and I'm too chicken to do it by myself." He couldn't get anything else without someone there with him, or even without getting his belly button done.

Jamie's eyes moved to Jory's ears. He laughed his deep, booming laugh. "Yeah, you look good." He immediately went silent and he could feel the heat rising in his cheeks. He had intended to say that his ear piercings had looked good, but it didn't come out that way at all. Jamie's eyes shot down, studying his feet. That was probably the safest place for them at the moment. Anything different might cause him to say something else unintentionally, or worse, do something he had been fighting the urge to do ever since he saw Jory in the hallway.

Jory felt heat rise up his chest and neck, on up to the curves of his ears. It felt so good to hear that. "So do you," he managed, peeking up at Jamie before dropping his eyes again, smiling. He didn't see any reason not to say it when it was true. "I like your laugh," he said. He really did, he could see it finding its way into his mind.

Jamie sat up all of the way this time. Jory's comment made him smile. It was a pleasant thing to hear. His eyes lifted and looked right at Jory. He couldn't see Jory's eyes because they were lowered, but he held his gaze. Jory had a beautiful smile. It was the kind of smile that was contagious, the moment you saw it, it made you smile back. A hand ran through his hair and to the back of his neck. "Oh yeah? My sister said when she was younger it would scare her." She would be in her room playing when all of the sudden, she heard a deep, booming sound.

"It's not scary," Jory said, smiling again and looking up at Jamie. Then he sat up, unconsciously mimicking Jamie's change in position again, with his legs beneath him. Once he was settled, he realized what he had done, and his blush spread to his cheeks. He had read somewhere once that when someone liked someone, they tended to copy what the person did, it was a dead giveaway. "I'll have to figure out how to make you laugh a lot." He couldn't imagine that Jamie was ticklish, but he had to be able to find something.

Jamie's hand slid down from his neck to his knee. His lips twitched upward into a smile. The smile grew into a wide grin. "You don't have to try very hard." He said softly. It was easy for him to laugh around Jory. It was easy for him to forget who he is, or maybe its just easier for him to realize who he is. He was relaxed and comfortable.

Jory smiled yet again. It was so easy to smile with Jamie, Jory had smiled so much more just today than he had in weeks. "I don't?" he asked, tilting his head, eyes sparkling. "So I don't have to find your ticklish spot or something?" He was ticklish, but he wasn't quite sure if he wanted Jamie to know that yet. It was easy to hide those places when he was intimate with someone, since his mind was so thoroughly focused on something else, but in normal situations it could all but make him crumble.
