Jamie quickened his pace. He was almost late to Transfiguration for the third time this week. He knew if he was late again he'd be spending the next week in misery at detention. He was practically running, now. His class was on the other side of the castle, if only there was a shortcut. Jamie cut through a corridor that he was almost positive was a shortcut. As he headed through the corridor, he realized that nothing in it looked familiar. He cursed under his breath and slowed down. He was lost.
Jamie slowed down and eventually came to a halt. He spun around trying to figure out where he was and how he could get out as soon as possible.

Jory took this hidden corridor a lot, it rarely had anyone in it and it gave him a few minutes to be away from people. So when he saw someone, he very nearly turned and ran off. It was only a few moments before it clicked in his mind just who that someone was. The thought crossed his mind to turn and leave anyway, but he wasn't going to let himself just get walked on like that.
Not that he had thought about it like that until the day before, but it sounded good now. "You," he called, his usually unsure eyes hard. It shouldn't be normal for him to feel unsure and insecure, it used to be normal for his eyes to sparkle. Now, that was pushed down as he headed toward Jamie. "Why did you leave?" he demanded. Sometime since Jamie had left the confusion and hurt had turned to anger.

Jamie did a double take when he heard a voice snap at him. The figure was all of the way down the corridor, and Jamie had to squint to see who it was. The person came closer, and when he spoke again Jamie knew exactly who it was. "Jory?" He called out anyway. Oh no, he was pissed. And he had every right to be. Why did you leave? The question stung, even though Jamie had been trying to figure out the complete opposite thing: What possessed him to do such a thing in the first place.
Jory was getting even closer and Jamie thought he had better say something before he got run over. "I...I...didn't mean..."He stammered, unsure how to say it. "It was...You see..." Jamie sighed, he couldn't get it out. What was it? A mistake? The best thing that ever happened to him? "I don't know." Jamie finished lamely.

Jory may have convinced himself it was a dream had he not met Jamie so soon. When he was close enough to look into Jamie's eyes, he stopped. "What? You didn't mean to leave five seconds after we had sex?" he asked. He felt his eyes begin to burn. No! It was too soon for that, why did he have to be so horribly weak when it came to controlling tears? At least they weren't coming yet. "Don't tell me that you don't know."

"No!" Jamie said quickly. He could see the pain in Jory's eyes and were those tears that began to form? He wanted to take Jory in his arms and tell him he was sorry, but it was okay. That that night had meant everything to him. But he couldn't. "It wasn't you---" He began, but stopped because it sounded like some lame excuse. "It was amazing, but it wasn't something I was used to. I was unsure, confused to say the least." Ashamed, terrified, angry at myself for loosing control. The list seemed endless. He had thought about that moment, when reality came crashing in, constantly but he never had any courage to do anything about it. He turned back four times that night, before he made it to the Club, to...to what? That was the part that got him.

"You're the one that started it," Jory pointed out. "I was fine just finding someone that wasn't going to shoot hexes at my feet and call me queer the second they found out." But how could he have not given in? It had been so long since his last meeting with Eros and it had felt so good. He didn't regret it at all. "If something else happens, then that's fine with me, no, that's great. But it's not like I went up and made you do it!" Jamie could have talked to him instead of kissing him, or even instead of running off afterward.

Jamie began to get annoyed, angry even. He couldn't get any of his words to come out right. His eyes narrowed and the light blue color turned to ice. "Oh, so I forced you to do it, is that it? You could've just as easily have said no." He argued, silently thank that he hadn't told Jamie to stop. It was hard to argue with that face. Something in the back of his mind reminded him that he was the one that ran away, not Jory. He had tried to stop himself, but he had no control.

"I wanted it, of course I wanted it, you're gorgeous, but if it was just going to make you run away...." Jory uncrossed his arms and brought his hands together in front of him again to fiddle with his rings. "If it was just going to make you confused..." Then what was the point? He had loved it, but he would trade it in if it meant he could have Jamie as a friend. Maybe more could have come later, he hoped so. He dropped his eyes from Jamie's hard ones and told himself not to blink, that doing so would only release tears he didn't want to fall.

Jamie's eyes softened. He didn't realize that his fists were clenched until he looked down and saw his white knuckles, but they relaxed too. "Jory, listen to me when I say this. It was never my intention to run away, especially not from you. You are amazing and beautiful." He said, pushing Jory's chin up so he could see his eyes. "That night was perfect," Well at least the part of it he could remember. "But I never meant to take advantage of you." Jamie recognizes that he was the one who started it, who pushed for it until he wimped out and ran away.

Jory searched Jamie's eyes, his own burning from refusing to blink. His vision was starting to blur, but it was better than streaks on his face. "How do I know you're not just saying this stuff and you won't just run off again?" he asked. He desperately wanted someone he could talk to and be comfortable with, someone that would touch him, but everyone he had tried to get close to just ended up hating him.

A grin spread across Jamie's face. "I guess you're just going to have to wait and see." He said. His hand moved from Jory's chin to his shoulder, down his arm, and finally covered his hand. Jamie noticed a sense of comfort and security when he was around Jory. "I'm sorry for leaving you." He said sincerely and raised an eyebrow hopeful that Jory would forgive him.

Jory finally relaxed, though he only did so when he looked down to see Jamie's hand on his. He blinked at last and the tears he had been holding spilled over, dripping from his eyelashes. A couple landed on their hands. "Don't do it again." He didn't want that, and he didn't think he would be able to just forgive Jamie if it happened again.

Jamie felt something wet drop onto his hand. His eyes looked up in surprise, searching for a leak in the ceiling. Instead, he realized that it was from Jory’s tears. His heart dropped. He hadn’t realized how much of an effect this had on Jory. Ever since that night, he had tried too hard to prove his feelings wrong. The feeling was unfamiliar to him, even now.
Jamie reached his hand up to Jory’s face and wiped away a falling tear near the corner of Jory’s mouth. “Jory, what happened the other night was amazing.” His heart still pounded when he thought about it. He closed his eyes briefly. It was more than amazing it was…there were no words to describe it. “You are stronger than you think. I don’t have that strength. People are going to talk, I don’t know if I can handle it.” It happened once before and he had run away from his problem, a common theme in h is life.

Jory cried so easily sometimes, and he could never control it. He shook his head at Jamie's words. He wasn't strong, he had no idea how he was surviving through this horrible mistake he had made to come out. "No one has to know," he said. "I promised I wouldn't tell anyone, and I won't, I don't even have anyone to tell. If we're friends, then there's nothing for them to find out, anyway." He looked up at Jamie, hopeful, for a moment before looking down again and pulling a hand away to wipe at his eyes.

Jamie took a step back and let his hands drop to his sides. "Right...friends..." He muttered. He was disappointed at first, remembering the other night arguing with himself that it would be impossible to be just friends with Jory. Then, he convinced himself it was for the better. No one could find out his secret if there wasn't any secret to keep. He would only have to learn how to control himself, something that had always been hard for him. His eyes wandered around until the unconsciously found Jory's eyes. God, they were so easy to get lost in.
