Jory didn't like the way Jamie had said that and he felt himself sink. "I mean, if you want to be more..." he said. He would love to be something else, it would be so great to be able to curl up in Jamie's arms. "I just thought...you said you couldn't handle it." He wouldn't tell, he wouldn't even look at Jamie when there were other people around if there was the possibility that it would cause problems. He wiped at his eyes again, though the hope still shone in them as they kept Jamie's.

Jamie bit his lip. He opened his mouth to say he had changed his mind, he definitely wanted to be something more. His senses caught up to him and he shut his mouth again. "Jory, it would be an honour to be your friend." He said smiling encouragingly. He wouldn't be able to handle being anything more, not yet. It was like a fresh wound in salt water.

Jory smiled, part of him relaxing, even if he did want something more. What, had he hoped that Jamie would argue and insist on them being together? It was a romantic notion, something normally found only in books and plays and songs. "Maybe....sometime...." we can try to be more. He wanted a boyfriend, but he didn't want to start a relationship only to have Jamie run off because it was too much.

Jamie raised an eyebrow confused at what Jory was trying to say. He turned his head to see if maybe someone or something had distracted him from finishing his sentence. It wasn't until Jamie looked at Jory again and saw the look on his face that he finally understood. "Oh," He said as he realized what Jory meant, "Yeah, maybe." He said doing his best to smile encouragingly. Part of him longed to pin Jory against the wall right there and take him again, but he knew he couldn't. It was too risky and for once, he was terrified of a risk.

Jory smiled, relieved, and nodded. "Sometime, then," he said, his eyes shining with something other than tears. "Do you wanna go somewhere and talk?" he asked, his eyes flickering down the corridor. The last thing he wanted was for someone to walk around the corner and Jamie to freak out over it. He brought his hands together in front of him.

A smile found its way across Jamie's face. It was comforting to know he had someone he could just talk to. A friend. The word was nearly extinct to Jamie. It had been so long since he had a friend. There were always the guys he's joke around with on occasion, but he would hardly consider any of them friends.
He finally nodded. "Uh, you're going to have to lead the way." He said, remembering he was lost. He had forgotten about the class he was supposed to be at. He didn't want to leave now, why bother? If he went to class, he'd only make it for the last part and he'd probably be so bored that he wouldn't be able to focus anyways.

Jory was glad to be able to have a friend, since even Layne had disappeared on him. He didn't have anyone he could consider a friend, not really, and though he would absolutely love it if they went further than friendship, he would enjoy just friends while it lasted. He nodded and turned, heading a short way down the corridor before turning into an abandoned classroom. "I go in here sometimes," he said, his eyes flickering up to the window that somehow let in light even though the room had to be surrounded by stone in the center of the castle.
"Like, when I need to get away from people. I tried the Room of Requirement once, but..." he shook his head and didn't say anything further on that subject. "Anyway, it's safe, no one uses that corridor out there." It wasn't the most comfortable room, with old dusty chairs pushed into one corner. But he had managed to transfigure a table into a burgundy couch over his many visits, and it was clean. He had somewhere he could relax, and that was what mattered. He headed over to sit at the end of the couch and dropped his bookbag from his shoulders to the floor, and tucked his legs beneath him on the overstuffed cushions.

Jamie followed Jory into a classroom. As far as he could tell, it looked exactly the same as all of the other classrooms in the castle, like the one he was supposed to be in right now. Pictures and paintings were moving from frame to frame on the wall, candles floating in the air lit the room, and desks and chairs were ready to be used.
Jamie sat on the top of one of the desks, facing Jory. He didn't know why he was so nervous being alone with him, especially if they were just friends. He pushed his hair away from his eyes. "Do you play any sports?" Jamie asked for the sake of conversation. He wanted to get to know Jory better, so he thought he would start with the basics.

Jory had hoped that Jamie would sit next to him on the couch, but he supposed that it wasn't something he should have hoped for too much. He shook his head in answer to the question. "No, I've never been any good at sports. What about you?" He didn't mind little questions like this, since he could get to know Jamie, and hopefully that would help with the possibility of their relationship progressing.

Jamie shrugged. "I don't mind them, or in other words, I'm game for anything. I've played Quidditch, but it's not very interesting to me. At home, my brothers and I like to play a muggle game called rugby sometimes. Usually if I'm playing a sport, it's for fun and not on a team." Jamie said. Nothing was fun when he had someone else telling him exactly how the game was played. He always liked to jazz it up a bit.
Jamie shifted on the desk. He felt like he was miles away from Jory, rather than a few feet. He knew if he would move any closer, he wouldn't be able to keep himself from moving too close.

"Do you have a lot of brothers?" Jory asked, shifting and resting one hand in his lap. The other reached to his neck and pulled out the necklace he wore, the one with the interlacing rainbow rings hanging from it. He started fiddling with the little metal ring. "I only have a little brother, he's not old enough to be in school yet." It was so nice to be able to relax like this and just talk, even if part of him was still imagining other things.

Jamie smiled and nearly let out a loud, booming chuckle. A lot was an understatement in his family. "I've got five sisters and four brothers, but somehow us guys still manage to feel like we are grossly outnumbered." Especially during that one week out of every week. Jamie could never really figure out how his parents managed all ten kids, but they did. His dad was lucky enough to have his job to keep him from going insane, but his mom would go days without communicating with anyone outside of their oversized family. "Three of my sisters and one of my brothers is older than I am. Four of us total are in school, just not in the same school." He clarified. It was bad enough living together in their cramped house. His sisters attended the same all-girls school and his brothers were all spread out at different schools.

Jory's eyes caught on Jamie's smile, but he somehow managed to pull them away and focus on what Jamie was actually saying. He knew how it was to have the people he grew up with at different schools, but he hadn't heard of an entire family being at different ones. "Wow," he said. "My brother will probably come here if he can, but he's not shown any kind of ability or anything."

Jamie was relieved that he was the only one out of his family who was attending Hogwarts at present. He could imagine how easy it would be for his poor brother to catch on to certain rumors involving him. "So far, all of us have proved our ability, but it wouldn't surprise me if at least one of my younger siblings turned out to be a squib." If anyone, it would probably be his seven year old brother, Andrew. Andrew was always playing with muggle appliances: the microwave, the toaster, the tractor. He was especially fascinated by the electric powered pencil sharpener. "How old is your brother?"

"He just turned seven," Jory said. It was quite the difference in their ages, but he had never minded. His hand moved from playing with his necklace to his left ear, where he absently played with the hoop in his earlobe, before switching to his other ear to shift each earring in turn. In his right ear were one in his lobe and two up in the curve of his ear. "It was....interesting, to say the least, telling him about me when I told my parents."
