"You are pretty cool, you know that?" Lalita said casually, speaking what she thought. She had never had a lot of friends, just a few good ones here and there, but she could tell that Logan seemed cool so far. Feeling like that was all she really wanted to say, she went back to being quiet. She had half a mind to joke and add "for a Gryffindor" to the end of the sentence, but she decided against it. It would be bad if taken the wrong way.

Ariel glanced aside at Lalita, raising an eyebrow. Then he looked down and nodded slightly, though it was easier to not reply at all verbally. "Why are you here?" he asked, only after the words were gone realizing how inappropriate it was. He was learning slowly, from his constant contact with Markise, what was appropriate and what wasn't, but it was hard to implement it after so long not caring. "I mean, why did you move here?"

Lalita spent a few seconds trying to find the right words to explain her situation before saying, "Modeling mostly. It's sort of a long story but the bottom line is that I move a lot. It just so happens I ended up here for however long it'll be." Modeling caused her to move a lot...and miss a lot of school. Just last year she missed the last term of her last year by going on a tour through Europe. She would have been glad to just end there, but her agent made her continue the education until the end of term. It wasn't too far away though....one more term!

Ariel looked over at her again, his eyebrows creasing as his eyes moved over her. "You're a model?" It really wasn't hard to believe, she was good-looking, but why on earth was she at school? He would have thought that she'd be tutored or home-schooled or something. "I mean..not to say you're not pretty..." he added, though he didn't pull his eyes away.

Lalita laughed, "I know what you mean. Thanks. And yeah, I model. I think I have been doing it since I was about three. It's pretty fun. I got to tour Europe. That was awesome." Besides the eating, it was all great! Hamburgers were something she had never had though...Getting thoughts away from food she looked back out at the lake then back to Logan. She smiled again and shrugged, "But enough about me. I'm sick of modeling. What do you do?"

"I swim," Ariel said. It was a much better answer than well, I used to be a prostitute and be hard into drugs. "Run, too, that's about it." Two things he hadn't been able to get back into as much as he wished he could. He would love to be able to just lose himself, but it was hard to do as much as he wanted. Most of it was because he hadn't been able to do much all winter.

"Run? For fun? Why?" Lalita pretended to be shocked as to why anyone would do such a thing evn though she knew people actually enjoyed it. Her agent used to make her run everyday to stay in shape though, and it was hell! The thought of running scarred her for life since now she assosiated torture with it. Ok...well not torture, but close enough! "Swimming is pretty cool though. Is there a pool somewhere around here or something?"

Ariel shook his head, "No, there's the lake. There's the Room of Requirement inside, though." When he had been able to find it empty, he had used it during the winter. It hadn't been open nearly as often as he wished it had been. He shifted and shrugged. "And yes, I run for fun, especially when I can't swim." He would rather swim, but he loved running, as well.

"That makes sense. And room of requirements I assume is......one of those rooms that can be anything? I think we had one at my former school. They sound interesting." On a few occassions, Lalita had wondered what she would make the room if ever she stepped foot in it. Maybe a runway? Studio? Who knows, maybe even just a boring room to sift through portolio pictures.

"It's nice, we didn't have one at my old school," Ariel said. He had even gone home a couple of times in that room. He had...been with Markise in that room. He closed his eyes briefly and then looked out over the water. A long tentacle slipped up out of the water, announcing the presence of the giant squid a long way out into the lake.

By turning to face the water too late, Lalita totally missed the squid sighting and instead just saw ripples of water. "That's such a pretty lake," she said softly. "You'd think this would be a number one hang out spot. Weather is nice, view is great, it's all perfect and yet no one is here. Figures, no one likes the pretty things in life." She shrugged, making a second note to visit out here more often! Maybe she could get a nice photo shoot if the lighting was good and the wind was workable.

"Some people don't have reason to," Ariel murmured under his breath, more than likely too quiet for Lalita to hear. He didn't look over at Lalita and prayed she hadn't heard. Lalita's last words were much too happy and positive for Ariel's taste. It was hard not to be pessimistic. He had grown up that way and, though everything was kind of looking up, it was hard to change his mindset.

Lalita heard a smll murmur come from Logan but didn't question it. If he didn't want t say it outloud, there must be a reason therefore it was not her place to ask. Changing the subject, Lalita made note of the cigarette he still had. "So, if you aren't going to smoke it, what are you going to do with it?" She was blunt in asking, no point beating around the bush.

Ariel picked his hand up and looked at the thin black clove cigarette. "This is my last one," he said, "I gave all the others away." And Markise had gotten rid of them. He hadn't even thought that there was any more hidden away. It wasn't an answer to her question. He wasn't even sure what he was going to do with it. Torture myself. He didn't think that would be an acceptable answer.

The reply did not answer her question and an unsatisfied Lalita dropped the subject. She could always broach the subject later if the conversation looked like i was going to die. "So, you swim, run, don't hang out with a lot of people, don't smoke your last cigarettes....am I missing anything?" She showed off her teeth in a teasing smile. This guy was truly fascinating! He seemed boring on the outside, and yet she was still very interested in whatever else he had to say.
