"I'm a Gryffindor," Ariel said, though he had no idea how he had been sorted into that house. He didn't really fit into any of the others, either, though. "And you?" He didn't see any reason he should care. You're trying to change? He sighed. Yes, yes he was trying to change, but did that involve meeting new people and gaining friends?

"Apparently I'm a Slytherin," Lalita said, rolling her eyes. She did not see how she could change from a Hufflepuff to a Slytherin. Although, the last school was a major flake so perhaps that was the one that was wrong. It didn't really matter though, she would be graduating soon enough. "Whatever, I think houses are an odd way of doing things. A person should be who they are without getting labeled and categorized like this."

Ariel nodded, "It just causes fights." It could be taken just to mean the houses, but he meant it for many difference scenarios of labels and categories people were forced to put on themselves. And it didn't cause fights so much as absolutely horrific prejudice due to people not understanding those "different" from them. "So you don't think you're a Slytherin?" he asked.

"I don't think I'm anything or I'm everything. A....Gryffislytheravenpuff." According to the old legends and whatnot; Gryffindors were brave, Slytherins were ambitious, Ravenclaws were smat, and Hufflepuffs were happy. Well, she was all four of those. "Do you think you're a Gryffindor?" Lalita countered, showing interest in what he was going to say.

Ariel shrugged and didn't answer immediately. He was brave...when the occasion called for it, like when his brother dragged him along with his group of friends. Most of the time he would much rather just run off and hide away somewhere with access to a pool. "I don't know. I don't hang out with anyone from my house, anyway," he said. So he really didn't think there was anything to worry about.

"Does anyone really?" From what Lalita saw at her old schools, no one hung out with their designated houses. Especially at her previous one, there were Slytherins best friends with Gryffindors, she and Jasmine hit it off -to say the least- although they were Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, and things like that. "Not that I actually know anyone yet, but who do you hang out with normally?" So far he was the only one she had talked to, so all names would be unfamiliar but in case she ran into any of them, she would recognize the name.

No one. "I pretty much stay to myself," Ariel said. The only person he was ever around was Markise. He didn't think it was right to tell her that, not when she might figure something out because of it. It was better to just not talk about Markise with anyone else. He had always been a loner, it was easy to tell her that he just didn't hang out around anyone.

"No pretty girls or guys for you?" Lalita cocked her head to the side, unbelieving that he was really a loner. He seemed fairly attractive, although she was not attracted to him, so he should get out more! Of course, who was she to judge? This was a guy she had only just met, she knew only his name house so far.

Ariel had started shaking his head, but his eyes darted to her when she said guys. His eyes darkened slightly and he shook his head again. "No one," he said, his voice low. No, Markise didn't count. He didn't need to be thinking about Markise right now. It wasn't that hard to believe that there wouldn't be anyone. He wasn't exactly the most appealing person, visually or mentally.

Lalita saw the change in Logan when she said guys. A small smile started to form, then quickly stopped. There were people like her at this school! It wasn't like she was keeping a secret or anything, but she stopped her smile just in case he asked why she was happy about it. She had no reason to hide the fact that she was a lesbian, and yet she felt no need to actually say it outloud yet. "Well, that is sort of a bummer for you then I guess. How are people here anyway?"

Ariel shook his head, "I don't know, like I said, I don't hang around them very much." He stayed as far away from them as he could, actually. And it wasn't so much a bummer for him, he didn't care at all, not really. He preferred to stay away from them. It made things so much easier. Of course, part of that could be thoughts from his old school coming through...

Lalita nodded along, curious as to why anyone would choose to be antisocial like that. But either way she let the subject drop and she continued on. "So, how long have you been at this school?" In a perfect world he would say just a few months, which would explain him being like that. In the real world though, she imagined he had been around for a few years and the students here were just unaccpeting and mean. She hoped it wasn't that although it didn't matter to her. The last time she ever gave a damn about what someone thought of her was too long ago to remember.

"I came at the beginning of this past school year," Ariel said. Well, it was as good as the beginning, barely a month after school had started. He shifted his weight and pulled his hands out of his pockets to cross his arms. He kept his cig tightly clenched in one fist. It had been a veritable nightmare, especially when it had started getting cold.

Good, it was option A not B. Lalita accepted that and moved on. Her eyes scanned to his hand which she could see, still clutched the cigarette. She was all of a sudden tempted to ask him for it, he was obviously not going to be using it, but she had a photoshoot the next weekend and couldn't take the risk. Damn. Maybe one day if she ever quit modeling she would start the habit again. Or not. Whatever she felt like doing, afterall she would be on her own soon enough.

Ariel took the silence. He paused a moment, then he sat. It was strange, but he felt no reason to have to leave Lalita's presence. Maybe he just wanted contact other than Markise. Even that didn't make a lot of sense, though, not when he had always been such a loner. He didn't force conversation, that felt even stranger to try to do than sitting there by the girl.
