"His prejudice caused a lot of people pain, all prejudice does," Ariel commented, his voice holding an edge of knowing. He had been through a lot because of prejudice of things that hadn't even been affirmed. It wasn't right to condemn someone because of something they couldn't control, or even because of something they could when it came to personal choices.

"Well it wasn't his problem. It was everyone else's now wasn't it?" Why did it matter that people got upset and hurt if others didn't like them? Harmony didn't care. If someone didn't like her she would just say "f~ you" and move on. She didn't care what others thought about her. It was her life and they could get over it, and that's how she expected everyone else to deal with it as well.

"But if he hadn't been like that, none of those others would have had one," Ariel said. "Or, you could say that those others didn't have a problem with being mixed blood, and he was the only one that did." He was about to start completely ignoring her. The amusement was leaving and he couldn't imagine that it would stay for much longer.

"Alright fine, if he had had such a problem about the whole thing then, he didn't have to share it with everyone. He could have just kept it to himself." She was getting annoyed because she knew that he was right and she didn't like admitting it. She was going to try to find away to end the conversation without giving off that maybe she did think he was right and perhaps she was wrong. "I mean really he should have gotten along with everyone, but then you get into the whole don't conform and always be different concept."

"Yes, and then you get into the whole hypocrite thing where people say they hate certain people but say others should get along with everyone," Ariel said, raising an eyebrow. He peeked at her with one eye and then settled in against the rock again, dropping his legs over the edge once more. He thought he could still get a little entertainment from her.

"Fine then," she retorted as she turned her head back towards the lake flinging her hair towards him. "I can be hypocritical sometimes. Not my problem." Harmony brought her knees up to her chest and draped her arms over them gently looking out at the lake.

Ariel snorted and shook his head. He didn't say anything more to her. It was her problem, not was his. Beneath his eyelids he saw a nice little image of her falling off the rock and into the lake, not that he intended to push her off or anything. It did make a nice little mental image, though.

"So now that I agreed that I am a hypocrite your not going to say anything else to me?" She asked responding to his snort. He seemed to be blowing her off now, not wanting to deal with her anymore but Harmony wasn't done talking with this boy yet.

Ariel shrugged. "My duty is done, you admitted you were..hypocritical. You didn't admit you're wrong, but I can work on that some other time," he said. His eyes remained closed and he focused on the warm sun on his face and the little sliver of skin showing beneath the edge of his shirt instead of the girl on the rock beside him.

"So now you think I am wrong?" She was getting very annoyed with this boy critiquing everything she said or thought. But then again, she mused, he seems like the type that would do this to everyone, so I guess I shouldn't take it personal.

Ariel didn't answer immediately, instead shrugging and raising an eyebrow over still-closed eyes. After a few silent seconds, he looked over at her. "Yes," he said, the answer simple and decisive. He stared at her for another few seconds, then turned his head to look up at the sky again before his eyelids closed once more. He wondered faintly how much longer the girl would insist on trying to prove she was right.

"Fine then. It's your opinion of me, I don't care what you think." She scoffed at him. "I am the way I am and I'm not changing because you don't like it." She turned away from him, flinging her hair in disgust at the boy.

Ariel shrugged and stretched before settling down against the rock again. "I never thought you would." Most don't. It would have been nice, but he hadn't even thought about expecting that it would actually happen, especially with how very angry Harmony had gotten every time he made a point. His amusement was gone, though, replaced by a wish to be alone.

"Hmph," she retorted back at him. She got up and started walking off, very annoyed with this boy. I can't believe I wasted a whole afternoon on this boy. The afternoon had not gone the way she wanted, and all she wanted now was to go as far away from him as possible. Well then again, I was trying to get hit on by a Gryffindor, that was my main problem. So with an afternoon "wasted" and Harmony in a sour mood, she headed back towards the castle.
