Her hood was drawn covering her face, her robes pulled tightly around her body, she wasn't dressed appropriately for the weather, but at the moment that didn't matter. She wasn't sure how far deep she was, but everything around her felt insignificant, she just wanted to get as far away from the castle as possible. Feeling faint now from walking she sat on the frozen earth, her breath coming out in shallow gasps. All she wanted now was to curl up in a ball and scream, but she suppressed that urge, she wasn't sure where all the anger came from, but all she wanted to do know was stay far away from anyone and calm herself down.

Chase had seen a small female form, cloaked and shivering with emotion, hurrying out of the castle. He'd recognized her, the narrow set of her shoulders, the way she moved, and he'd taken off after her, shrugging into his jacket as he moved through the doors. He stayed back at first, watching, wondering if she was meeting someone, wondering why he'd followed, but he could tell she was escaping. Or trying to escape.
He thought he saw her waver on her feet, and his steps lengthened, became less quiet, giving her a moment's notice before his hands wrapped around her shoulders. Other than spots of milky moonlight, it was too dark to really see, giving the whole moment the feeling of a lucid dream. One hand left Storm's shoulder, catching her under her chin, turning her to look up at him.

A stronger gasp escaped her lips, she was ready to defend herself, but as she turned around her shoulders slackened, she felt numb, her eyes wide, she hadn't seen Chase in a long time, her lower lip trembled, she felt dizzy, realizing that she stopped breathing she took a sharp intake of air which pierced her lungs. She bit her lower lip hard almost enough to break the skin. She wasn't sure why she reacted the way she did, but she found herself burying her head in the croak of his neck letting a few tears slide down her face, her fists balled into resting on his chest.

Chase stood in shock, his arms slipping around Storm, the only comfort he knew how to give. He didn't even know what was wrong, but the look in her eyes had said so much. She was hurting worse now than she had when he'd pushed her away. Why had he pushed her away? Dru's face filtered into his mind, but he banished her, just for now. She had no place here. Chase felt like he should say something, but what was there to say? He found himself murmuring nonsense, telling her it would be okay, saying he was sorry, though he didn't say what he was sorry for, couldn't tell her what would be okay.

Her body quivered she could only listen to what he was saying, she looked up her face now stained with tears.
"Sorry for what Chase? For wounding me, or abandoning me?" she wasn't mad that he chose Dru over her, it was the way he left her and his parting words that had such a deep impact on her.

Chase's brows knit in pain, but he forced himself not to back away from answering. "I don't know why I did it." Yes, he did. She'd gotten too close. That was all she'd done, and he'd hurt her to keep himself safe. "Are you okay?" She wasn't, he could tell, but anything was safer to talk about than whatever had or hadn't happened between the two of them.

She pulled away turning her face to the side to avoid eye contact, she wasn't sure how to answer, this wasn't the type of conversation when you get away with just saying 'I'm fine, thank you' then walk away as if everything was perfect. Instead, she tugged her cloak closer around her frame and sighed.
"No, I'm not, I don't deserve to be do I?" she said weakly, she shouldn't blame him or anyone but herself.

Chase's thoughts kept going back to what Lafra had told him by the lake. Storm had to hate him for what he'd said, for being so close to a nightmare like that. "You don't deserve this," he said. It stung having her turn from him. Even if they'd hardly known each other, they'd been close. Chase stood awkwardly, wanting to hold her again, just to close the space between them, but what if he was the problem? "Listen, I shouldn't have...I shouldn't have said those things..."

She wanted to stop him right there, no he shouldn't have, but she wasn't going to allow him to feel bad about it, she remembered what he said and it still stung her. She shook her head to silence him.
"But you did, and you spoke the truth, can I blame you for that?" she thought hard on this, she decided that she couldn't, but that didn't ease the pain.

"But I didn't have to say it. You're not stupid, Storm, you could've figured that one out on your own." Yes, he wanted to get laid, but he'd made her think that was the only reason he'd ever been with her. Why was it so hard to tell her that it wasn't? "I'm sorry," he said again. "I just want to go back..." Go back and what? Even he didn't know.

Again she shook her head, they couldn't just go back to how things were, not with what happened with Emillian, she was sure he would eventually find out.
"I don't think I'm healthy for you, stick to Dru she's an amazing person, much better than myself." she was hinting that she did something wrong

Chase shook his head and caught Storm's chin again, forcing her to look at him. "She's not better," he said. "Just faster." He had a feeling Storm would have gotten the same thing, eventually. Chase swore under his breath. He didn't know what he was doing. "Kitten, you've got to know, you didn't do anything, I'm an ass. If you can forgive me..." He didn't understand why she thought she'd done something...Chase's eyes flickered red as he recalled what Lafra had said. Storm had blamed herself for what that other guy did, why wouldn't she blame herself for this?
"I don't want sex," Chase said, trying to patch things up, thinking on his feet. "I did, but that wasn't it. I didn't leave because you wouldn't put out." There, he'd said it.

She didn't pull away this time, she just continuously stared up at him, she still wasn't letting out as much as she should, she sighed and bit her lower lip trying to make sense of everything in her mind.
"It's not necessarily the message, it's how it was delivered, I... I felt so worthless, like everyday garbage." she was going to say something else, but it would have been to harsh in the situation they were in.

"But I was the one who was being a jerk. Hate me, Storm." He deserved it, if not for Storm then for every other time he'd done the same damn thing. "Hate me for pushing you away, you didn't deserve it. Hate me for...saying the cruelest thing I could think of. Hate me for hurting you, but don't even think about hating yourself."

She wasn't sure what to think, her lips parted to speak, but she quickly closed them, she tried again, only her voice came out sounding weak.
"That's the problem, I can't hate you for pushing me away, I can't hate you for hurting me, I won't allow myself to you hate, this is how I will try to repent for my sins." she was on the verge of tears, but held them back, the only thing she could feel now was her hand on her chin, every other part of her was numb.
