Markise's eyes widened a bit at that, and his gaze moved from the corridor in front of them around to Holly. "If he's violent, then there's no way you should put yourself into something like that," he said, keeping his voice low enough that any passers-by wouldn't overhear. Markise had never experienced violence in a relationship, but he'd had enough other kinds of abuse that he knew how badly it could affect someone's whole life.

"Well, not as much to me as it is to others. I made my decision though and I cannot involve myself with him any longer. If it is necessary I will go to the headmistress." Holly felt breathless yet confident, happy that she had made up her mind. It had been to long of keeping her mouth shut and it felt good to speak out loud.

Markise let out a breath he hadn't even realized he'd been holding. "Good," he said firmly. "People like that... they say they'll change, but they don't. They just... don't." The ones he'd been with hadn't changed. They'd behave a while, then they were right back to where they'd been before. "You can talk to me too, if it helps," he offered.

"Thank you," Holly breathed gratefully. Letting out a gust of air, she stopped for a moment to regain herself. Holly had let out a lot more of her secrets than she had wanted too. She had no idea where they were going, but knew Markise could find his way around the castle much better than she could.

"You're welcome," Markise said softly. He stopped as well and looked at Holly a moment. "Are you all right?" he asked. He knew that it was probably just the stress of talking about things that were obviously bothering her, but if there was anything else, or if she still needed to talk... Markise had accepted over a month ago that he was a true Hufflepuff, whether he wanted to be or not.

"Yeah. Just a little overwhelmed with my situation right now. Though sometimes I feel guilty. Like I am complaining too much, you know?" Holly had so much to be thankful for. She had two parents who loved her, an education, food and shelter. What right did she have to be whining all the time?

Yes, he knew, though he tended to complain to himself rather than to anyone else. Of course, his problems involved other people's secrets too, and since exposing some of those secrets could cause people irreparable harm, there was no way that he could. Markise nodded at Holly's question, though. "I know," he said. "But sometimes getting it out is what keeps you sane, right?"

Holly nodded, agreeing to Markise's statement. "Yeah... Any idea where we are going? I am just following you." The fifteen year old stopped beside a suit of armor waiting for a reply. The piece of metal shifted, causing Holly to jump in alarm. She hated those things...

Markise jumped too, then gave the armor a glare that had it nodding its helmet lightly in apology. "I wasn't really going anywhere," Markise said. He looked at the armor a moment longer before looking back at Holly. "I don't mind the exercise if you don't." He gave a light shrug of his shoulders. As long as they didn't accidentally find that trick step or the stairs to the dungeons, he'd be fine.

"I do not mind. The holidays have me head up in pumpkin pie," Holly smiled patting her stomach. Hektor's favorite food was pumpkin pie. How typical that she had been eating it for dessert everyday.

Markise's lips curved at that. "Then we may as well keep wandering until we find a reason to stop," he said. He couldn't think of anything that he'd wanted to see but hadn't, though. Not at the school, anyway. Come to think of it, not in Hogsmeade, either.

"Okay! I am fine with that," Holly yipped merrily, skipping to catch up to Markise. Holly was puzzled at her joyful mood. She had been moody and depressed lately because of her situation including her marriage and Hektor. At the back of her mind, something was there tellling her everything was going to be okay.

Just walking was going to get old fast, so Markise decided to start up some conversation. "So Holly, what kind of stuff do you like? I mean, besides pumpkin pie." Markise smiled at Holly as he turned down a random corner. This was SO much better than hiding in his Common Room.

Holly tapped her chin, thinking about her hobbies. "I like animals though I do not own one... Though hobbies? I never really thought about that. My parents picked what I did all the time." Holly shyly looked down, embaressed by the lifestyle she had led. Has she any independence?

"Oh. That's too bad," Markise said. He was silent for a while, not at all sure where to go. Then he thought of something. "If you could have a hobby what would it be? You like animals, so would you like, ride hippogriffs or something?" Not that Markise would do that, but it had to do with animals.
