"Well... We are both not doing anything so you wanna go somewhere?" Holly smiled happy someone had treated her kindly. So far, out of everyone she had met a Hogwarts, had been rude or responded with violence. Markise seemed like a nice enough guy.

"Sure," Markise said. He thought for a moment about where he would be least likely to run into Ariel, then decided not to worry about it. If he was actually with someone instead of wandering on his own, the jerk would probably walk on by without saying a word. "You can pick the place," Markise told Holly. "Or we could just walk around until we find one." He wouldn't mind either right now.

"I don't mind. There must be something interesting around here." Holly shifted her weight to her right and searched through her mind, hoping to find something to occupy herself. Without classes and schoolwork, Hogwarts could become pretty boring.

"Then let's go," Markise said, inclining his head down the corridor. He couldn't think of anywhere in particular to go, either. At least, not inside the castle. All he'd found were empty classrooms, the occasional broom closet, and a trick stair that had swallowed his foot whole once. He hadn't made that mistake again. "So, Holly, you haven't been at Hogwarts long, have you?" he asked. Yes, he'd been rather antisocial this month, but before that he most definitely hadn't been, so it stood to reason.

Holly nodded, following the sixth year's lead. "I went to a school around here called Magic International. I transferred to Hogwarts just recently." The young Ravenclaw was upset about leaving her old school, but Hogwarts held a lot of familiar faces as well.

Markise nodded at Holly's explanation, but was silent for some moments, thinking. Everyone had a different reason for transferring, didn't they? Just because the stories he already knew had been... tragic for the most part didn't mean everyone's was.
Markise looked aside at Holly a moment before licking his lips briefly. "If you don't mind me asking, I mean, if you're okay talking about it... why did you transfer?"

"Oh um..." It seemed every question and conversation led to the uncomfortable topic of her arranged marriage. "My father wanted me closer to where my fiancee lives." Holly felt there was no need to lie, and if people asked there was no reason in avoiding the truth. Everyone would know soon enough anyway.

"Fiancé," Markise repeated softly. He had to think about that one for a moment. She was obviously still a student--a fourth year, had she said?--and she was engaged? Not only that, but her father wanted her closer to her fiancé? Markise could just imagine what his parents would say if Brindle was suddenly engaged, and it wouldn't involve living closer to the guy. "No offense, but aren't you a little young for that?" Markise realized after he said it that she'd probably heard it a lot, but it was too late to take the question back now.

Holly flinched, having heard that for the umpteenth time. "Well yes... It's not like the ceremony is tomorrow. When I am legal I will be off. It is only because I asked of my father to let me meet the man. THe original plan was to meet on the day but I did not agree to that." Holly smiled embaressed, as Markise stared incredulously at her. Holly had felt shock when she was told the news as well.

Markise blinked, taking a moment to think over everything she'd just said. The being too young question was completely moot since she was waiting until she was legal, but he caught on to the bit about meeting on the day. And the bit where she hadn't agreed on it. He focused on that. "So have you met him yet?" he asked. That seemed like the most important question to him. If she was already closer to him, that meant she'd know him at least a couple years first, right? That was longer than a lot of other people.

"Yes. He seems... nice enough?" Holly laughed, casting her eyes out the window. Her smile quickly faded, to be replaced with a frown. "I can understand how it seems weird but it happens to other people doesn't it? The curse of being a pureblood, I guess."

Markise nodded, though he really had no clue. His family couldn't trace itself back very far, but as far as they did know there weren't any Purebloods at all. The only one he'd ever known well was Dare's dad, but Markise didn't really count him, since Dare's mom was a Muggle. "Maybe he'll grow on you," Markise suggested hopefully. "I mean, you've got a couple years to figure it out, right?"

"Yeah, that's true. I am meeting up with him every two weeks so maybe it will be alright," Holly replied hopefully. "I just do not know what to do about Hektor..." Holly wondered if Markise knew who the Slytherin was. Most people did, as he was a common source of fear.

Hektor. The name didn't so much as ring a bell, but what did get Markise's attention was the way she'd said it. "What do you mean, what to do? He's not like, a boyfriend or something, is he?" He hoped not. He didn't know how Purebloods did things, but in his world being engaged to someone meant you couldn't date anyone else.

"He likes me a lot and we have had our flings I guess. I am getting a little tired of his attitude though. He is extremely violent and goes around picking on everyone. More than that, I am afraid." The young Ravenclaw's eyes went down, ashamed and embaressed. To have been with someone so horrible...
