Holly sifted through the shelves of books searching for a simple, fun, romance novel. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, mostly romance. It was fun to imagine living a normal life and then to meet someone who would sweep you off your feet. "If only that was real," she muttered pulling a book called Witches Love off the shelf. Exiting the area, SMACK! Holly fell to the floor, groaning in pain. Looking up...

Pat heard the loud bang followed by a moan and rushed around the shelf to the next row. She saw a brown haired girl laying on the floor with a few books around her. "Oh my gosh! are you ok?" Pat asked with a look of shock on her face. She wasn't sure what had caused the girl to fall, but wasn't about to laugh at her clumsiness if she might be injured.

"It's okay... You can laugh," Holly muttered rubbing her back gently. Picking up her book, she stood up to face a pretty blonde girl. "Hello there! Sorry about that, I can be a klutz." Holly smiled, grateful, the girl had not laughed at her. "Anyways, I am Holly."

"I wasn't going to laugh." Pat said without trying to hide her smile. "Hi Holly, I'm Pat. Well Patricia really, but everyone calls me Pat." She wrinkled up her nose at the thought and corrected herself. "Everyone at my old school at least, my parents think it's a horrible nickname."

"Aw, it can not be as bad as my real name. Hollis?" Holly shuddered remembering her mother's squealing her name everytime something good happened. When it came down to it, Holly really seemed to dislike her parents.

"Hollis? Really? I've never even heard of that. My parents just thing pat isn't a 'proper name for a proper young lady.' I asked them which proper lady they were referring to because it obviously wasn't me, and they didn't think it was funny. They took away my broom for a whole week then!" Pat's eyebrows narrowed slightly at the memory of her parents disapproval of her. It wasn't something she let bother her until it started getting in the way of her own interests, like quidditch.

"Oh wow, that's pretty harsh." Holly flipped through the pages of the book searching for a conversation topic. "So you play quidditch? I am afraid of brooms," Holly laughed. Her mind went back to the hundreds of times she had fallen of her broom. Always resulting in injury of course...

"I love it. It's the only sport that's good enough for my parents, even though it took forever for them to let me play it. I love flying. its so exciting. How can you be afraid of brooms?" She didn't like that Holly had started flipping her book right as they were talking but ignored it. She took one look at the crest on her robes and saw that she was a Ravenclaw. They always had their heads in books so it made sense.

"Sorry, just making sure it's long enough. I finish books in a day," Holly chuckled putting the book to the side. "But yes, I have been afraid of brooms for as long as I can remember. I always used to fall off when I was little. Suffered many broken bones. Hold on, I need to check this out." Holly picked up the book and headed to the counter.

Pat stared after the girl and shrugged. She seemed a little scatterbrained or busy, she couldn't tell which. While she waited for the girl she picked up a book that must have fallen off the shelf. It was a fiction book, and Pat flipped through the pages idly to pass the time. She had no where better to be, and was avoiding the paper she had to write.

Holly quickly had the book accounted for and headed back to Pat. "Okay, sorry about that. Do you want to sit and chat? Go somewhere else?" Holly smiled, happy she had found a new friend. The days at Hogwarts were still lonely.

"Yeah, sure. I think I saw some couches over there, as long as the librarian doesn't kick us out for hanging out." She gestured with her hands to the left. Talking with her hands was something else that her parents hated, but it was just natural for her. She had tried not to when she was younger when she felt a need to please her mother but now she thought it was part of her personality. She turned to walk in the direction assuming Holly would follow.

Holly followed the book in hand. It was quite a cliched cover; with a strong, handsome wizard holding a young, beautiful witch in his arms. In no way did this lower the quality of the writing though, the author was quite good. Holly sat down on the big fluffy couch and sighed. The material was soft and comfortable. "As long as we talk quietly I think we will be okay," Holly murmured.

"So what do you do for fun?" Pat asked as she slumped down into her seat. She hadn't bothered to lower her voice, it wasn't worth it to her to strain to hear. Besides, the librarian had just been at the counter to check out that book which was in the opposite direction. Hogwarts library, like the rest of the school, was massive, and she doubted they'd get in trouble until she made rounds.

"Fun? Be lectured by my father, study, go to appointments, dinners, arranged marriages. All that good stuff." Holly smiled bitterly, once again telling someone about her predicament. She really needed to stop doing that...
