"Yes... It is to happen soon. The wedding will be next year, I know of that, but I shall meet the boy or man by this week." Holly knew that the engagement was necessary but she could not help but dwell on it. All arranged marriages never ended happily!

"Next year? Will you even be of age yet?" She thought the girl looked to be maybe a little bit younger, but perhaps she was mistaken. If she was a 6th or 7th year then a year would be more than enough time to be 17 and of age. Pat shuddered at the thought of her own parents forcing a marriage on her right out of graduation, and just prayed that she would find a suitable husband before they decided to find one for her. She was just thankful that she still had a few years until the time to worry came.

"No, I am fifteen. My father needs it to be done as soon as possible. As long as both sides of the family agree it is legal for me to be underage. Unfair, but legal." Holly thought of Hektor and wondered how he would respond to the news. Of course, he would know soon, considering he is already at Hogwarts.

"Why the big hurry? Is he afraid you'll run off and ruin yourself or some such nonsense?" Pat cocked her head to the side, trying to understand why a parent would want their wizarding child married off before they had the ability to be a fully qualified witch. It didn't make sense to her. Although, in all fairness, the whole arranging of marriages seemed outdated to her. She knew why purebloods felt the need to do it, she just wished they would get over themselves. "So he's not even letting you complete school? That's got to stink."

"Pretty much yeah. It has to do with all his stupid debts. During the war, he lost a lot of money so he thought I could be his problem solver. Hurray for me!" Holly grumbled angrily, sinking down into the couch. It really was not fair.

Pat raised an eyebrow at Holly's remark. "I thought the girls were supposed to supply the dowry?" She had never heard of a man giving money to a family in order to marry their daughter. She shook the confusing thought from her head, deciding it didn't really matter either way to her anyway. For all she knew just having one less mouth to feed and not having to pay for the Hogwarts education would keep her parent's Gringotts account from becoming empty.
