"I can visualize," Emilian said, watching her for a few moments before following her over to the display, purposefully directing his gaze away from her short skirt. "Those match the necklace," he said, pointing to a pair of posts. Hanging from each end of the post, the post itself and the back, were thin gold chains with tiny gold wire hearts hanging on the end.

Cleo looked at them briefly but then dismissed them. "I'm not really a matching girl. The set I want will be for balls and formal occassions were I'm expected to appear and behave as the proper young lady I certainly aren't" she said. She carried on looking in the case, playing with the heart necklace she was still wearing absently. "What about them?" she asked, pointing to a pair in the corner. They were drop earrings, each one a tiny golden bolt of lighting.

"Oh yes," Emilian said, his words dripping with sarcasm, "Because lightening bolts are so appropriate for formal balls." Not that he had anything against the earrings, but for balls of the kind it sounded like she was speaking of, they weren't right. "Those would be more acceptable," he said, gesturing to a pair very similar, but with simple bars instead of lightening bolts.

Cleo nodded, "Then I'll take them both" she said decisivly. "My parents will be delighted" she said, her tone making it difficult to tell if she was being serious or sarcastic. "I don't even want to know how much it all costs. Just bill it to this account" she said, pulling out the slip of paper which she had scrawled her parent's account number on.

Emilian didn't question her decision as he opened the case and pulled out the two pairs, walking over to the main counter and laying them down. "In that case," he said when he took the paper, "What else shall we be transferring to my account today?" He made sure the earrings were safe and looked at her expectantly, she had mentioned a set and a bracelet.

"I want a bracelet, something pretty, set with a few gems, maybe emeralds or whatever will go best with my skin tone. Also I need a set, necklace, earrings and a bracelet, something elegant and classy, that will go with any colour, possibly silver or white gold." she said, outlining what she wanted briefly. She was confident that the owner would find exactly what she was after. "What's your name by the way, all my friends will want to know where I got my gorgeous jewellery" she asked, hoping he would provide her with a straight answer.

"Emilian," he answered absently, walking over to a display and opening the case. He pulled out a felt tube that had three bracelets wrapped around it. They were two ropes of their respective metals, woven together, and in between each twist lay a piece of amber, "Do you like any of these?" he asked, gesturing her over to him. In the same case were more bracelets with inlaid gems that she could look through if she didn't like what he had picked out.

Cleo came and looked at the bracelets, not even realising how close she was to Emilian. It hadn't even been intentional this time, she just wanted to buy as much jewellery as possible. "I prefer the ones with the emeralds" she said, pointing to another tube.

Emilian, on the other hand, was almost painfully aware of how close she was to him, he could practically feel the heat coming from her body. He turned to the case and replaced the tube, pulling out the one she pointed out. "Which one do you like?" he asked, looking down at the different metals, silver, a brassy gold, and pale gold.

Cleo inspected all three bracelets carefully, deliberating. "The silver I think" she said finally, looking up at Emilian. He didn't look much older than her and she was curious as to how he had ended up here, owning a jewellery shop. "How long have you owned the shop?" she asked, fingering the cool metal of her necklace absently.

"It'll be three months on the sixteenth," Emilian said, automatically, even if it felt like so much longer. He paused in taking the bracelet she asked for off of the tube as he thought, had it really only been that long? There had been the first couple of weeks, with all those girls coming to see him because of the rumors, the interview....then that horrible month spent alone without Adara. Then those few perfect weeks, where everything had been right and the relationship had grown so much, and now. With her father trying to ruin everything.

Cleo nodded. "Not long then, but you seem to know your jewellery" she said, complimenting him with a smile. She moved away from him, brushing against him by accident, as she went to inspect the more formal jewellery, ideal for the balls she attended. She rested her elbows on the glass of the display cases as her attention was caught by the jewellery.

Emilian shook his head, jerking himself out of the reverie with the shock of her body brushing against his. "It was the one thing that my mother and I had in common." He had always been knowledgeable about it. He finished taking the bracelet off of the tube and carried it over to the two pairs of earrings on the main counter by the register and laid it down beside them.

Cleo just murmured in reply, her attention had been caught by a beautiful necklace, with matching earrings and a bracelet. "Emilian," she said softly, "Can I see those please?" she asked. She pointed to a beautiful, delicate necklace. It was made of several ropes of pearls which were all twined together, the delicate, silver wiring showed between the pearls as they weren't end to end on the chain. The matching bracelet was made of two strands and the earrings had pearls attached to the posts and then several pearls dangling on the same, fine wire that made up the rest of the jewellery, the different lengths caused a small cluster to be formed.

Emilian came over to her and opened the case, flicking his wand over to the open cases he had momentarily forgotten about across the store to close them before putting his wand back in his waistband. He reached in to pull out the stand that held the pieces for her and set it on top of the case when he closed it. He leaned his forearms on the counter and didn't speak, his mind lost once more to his memories.
