Arwen nodded, there was no reason to say she had had only a kiss, he knew her well enough to know that she wouldn't do anything more with someone she had just met. After a minute she looked up at him, "Why?" Why would he spend so much time and effort trying to find her when he was free to be with anyone he wanted? When he could always just come to the club to find her?

And there was the question. Neo looked away from Arwen as they walked, trying to sort things even as he said them. "I'm just not interested anymore." It was the truth, strangely, a truth that had been developing, growing over the past weeks, or maybe the past months, he couldn't be sure. But he knew it was true. For the most part, it was just sex.

Arwen looked up at him in shock, though he wouldn't be able to see it because he was turned away. Immediately a feeling of guilt came over her for kissing the pirate, however much she had enjoyed it, and maybe even because of it. She was constantly doubting the whole thing when away from him, and there he was, not interested anymore. Her fingers tightened in the cloth of his shirt and she looked forward again, at a lost as to what to say to his words.

Neo felt that small tell, but wasn't sure what to make of it. She hadn't spoken, hadn't helped him out any, so he tried to go on, maybe still sorting, maybe trying to backtrack from that confession, he wasn't sure. "That last time I came to you at the club, I haven't been with anyone else. It's just...since that last Daily Prophet, no one even talks to me but you. There's no fun anymore." Without the game, without the hunt he loved so much, what was left?

No one even talks to me but you. Arwen cringed slightly, "You should have stopped at I haven't been with anyone else." She looked up at him, wishing she could see his eyes. "So are you not interested, or is it because I'm the only one that talks to you?" Since he had said he wasn't interested anymore first, she assumed, hoped that that was it, she just hadn't known how to reply to him. She swore to herself that if he said the second one she would leave.

Neo knew how dangerous a question it was, but he couldn't seem to stop himself. "Both," he said, trying to be honest. "It started out that way," he said, then went on in a rush, trying to stay her, trying to keep her from leaving before he was through. "And it started getting...less fun. And then I was with you, and it was amazing, and everything else was just...nothing. And now I'm not even interested in the rest, so I come to you. I want you." He wasn't even entirely sure what he was saying, but seeing her with that other guy, knowing he had no claim over her had jarred him into action. Or at least into telling her.

Arwen felt as though her muscles were frozen, she couldn't move. Was he... No, she mentally shook her head, it was her imagination. She whispered his name, searching the reflective surface of his glasses, trying to see the answer she needed. It was her imagination, she was sure of it, he would never agree to a relationship again. But what if it wasn't her imagination? What if? No, she wouldn't let herself get her hopes up.

Neo couldn't help looking at her, though every reflex screamed to look away, to divert his gaze to safety and distance. But he could almost hear her questions, and she was looking at him so intently, searching his face; why did he have to say it? Why couldn't she just guess like she did for everything else?
It took Neo a moment to remember the reflective glasses he was wearing; he tugged them off impatiently and held them wrapped firmly in his hand. His eyes blazed, smoldered, sure of some things, and still intensely confused by others.
"I'm not saying...we should try what we tried before." It had been such a massive failure on so many levels. But still..."Just know...I'm not sleeping with anyone else." What he hadn't said spoke nearly as loudly as what he had, and he wished it didn't. He didn't think he was capable of promising to only be with her, but right now, he was. And it was his choice.

But wasn't that basically the same thing? Arwen wouldn't say it. The feeling that came over her was nearly instant, once it broke through the shock and confusion of before. It was relief, it was knowledge that she had been right to go along with it, and it was happiness. She put her arms up around his neck and pulled him down for a kiss. Maybe now the doubt would go away, maybe she could be as happy away from him as she was with him, knowing that he wasn't with someone else.

He'd said something right. It was all he could think of as his arms wrapped around her, as his lips parted against hers. In his mind, the situations were entirely different. Despite the obvious similarities, he held them separate, distant from one another. He'd been coaxed into a relationship, been convinced it would be better than what he'd had, and it hadn't been. But this...he'd been gradually working toward it, and from where he'd stood, it looked better. He hadn't known what he was giving up before. Now, he was giving up empty sex. That was all. He hadn't said he'd given up girls entirely; he could feel free to flirt, to enjoy himself. He wasn't hers. It was a small change, and a world of difference.

If they had two different ideas of what was going on, of what it meant, Arwen didn't know. In her mind, he was hers, she had always thought it in that back room of the club, and now she let herself think it. Perhaps she was letting her imagination and her wants overrun her thoughts, perhaps she would be hurt later, but that thought didn't cross her mind as she held herself tight against him.

Neo could feel thought slipping away for the haze of kissing her, of holding her body flush against his, and he welcomed the change. He had told her so much, and though he realized that there was so much he hadn't said, those confessions he'd made represented far more. They were vulnerability, they were power, and while Neo clung to the latter, he despised the former. But she had kissed him, was kissing him with, somehow, more fervor than even the last time. If she had seen those things he kept hidden, she had not only accepted them, but embraced them, and he didn't have the strength to argue, to clarify any further on his own.

Arwen lost herself to the kiss, refusing to let herself think. She knew that if she did then something would go wrong. One hand ran up the back of his head, marvelling at the strange feel of his short hair, the other arm stayed wrapped around his neck, her hand gripping his shoulder. The floating feeling that usually came over her was making her feel light.

He was beginning to want more, much more than was acceptable on an actual path, where the chances of being found were much higher. So he kept it at a kiss, though to call it only a kiss would have demeaned the moment. It was a kiss of physical desire made all the more powerful by the unspoken, the emotions he had yet to name, and those he had yet to acknowledge. It was a melding of something more than their need for one another. But eventually he slowed the kiss, slowed it and let it go, before he lost himself entirely.

Arwen smiled, running her fingers through his short hair as she looked into his eyes. Her own sparkled in excitement and happiness. Her other hand came up to run her fingers down his cheek and jawline. "You suprise me every time we're together," she said, still smiling. Be it his decisions or his expertise, she was surprised and amazed at him.
