Cassie shook her head. "Actually no. When I saw Chase I was going to ask him if he wanted to join me for a drink." Cassie said, turning to Chase as she offered him an escape route. She knew she was being rude as she had not invited Eloise as well, but Cassie didn't have a great impression of this girl and so didn't feel guilty about it for long. "What do you say Chase?" she asked him.

Eloise looked from Chase to Cassie, she was probably one of his girls that she had heard about. "Oh urm... Alright." She mumbled looking down the alley way, away from them both, she still needed to talk to Chase but then again it wasn't extremely urgent, "You guys have fun then..." She muttered.

It was an easy way out of the uncomfortable situation he was in. An afternoon with Cassie, even if it was nothing like their last meeting, was guaranteed to be at least marginally more pleasant than his current plans. Still, Eloise’s reaction didn’t slip by him. She was upset, understandably so, for more reasons than he had for his own mood.
But would it do her any good to have him hanging around reminding her? He told himself it wouldn’t, that she’d be better off coming to terms on her own.
Chase glanced at Cassie, asking silently for her to wait a minute, then turned to Eloise, dropping his voice so that all Cassie could hear was a murmur. “Do you want me to go with you?” he asked. He would, if that was what she wanted, but he expected her to want some privacy, some time to think.

Cassie got the message and stepped back, obviously something had happened between them, something that had shaken Chase and scared Eloise. She was offering them both a chance to rest, think and have a break, something she felt they both needed.

Eloise looked at Chase for a moment and placed a hand on his arm, "Do what you think is best." She said smiling slightly her blue eyes twinkling as she looked at him, "We can talk this over in the common room if you want... or go with her. I don't mind." She mumbled looking at Cassie with a small sigh. Eloise moved her hand from his shoulder now looking at Cassie.

Cassie felt like she was being watched and she turned to see Eloise looking at her. She didn't want to speak, to admit that there was a little more than friendship between Chase and her. She smiled apologetically at Eloise, but still didn't invite her to join them. She turned back again, letting them decide in private.

Chase's jaw tightened. He'd left the decision to her for a reason, and she'd thrown it right back at him. He wanted to go with Cassie, to let Eloise deal with her thoughts on her own, but the way she'd phrased things--or go with her--told him she minded more than she'd say. He felt responsible for what had happened, even if she'd invited it, and a large part of him wanted to go with her simply to make sure she was okay.
The rest of him realized the likelihood that she'd be able to sort through things with him there. She needed time alone, and he needed to cool down. "I'll meet you in the Common Room tonight," he said at last. "It'll give us both some time." His red-brown eyes searched her blue, telling her without words that he wasn't leaving because he was blowing her off. "Go get some rest. Think it over."

Eloise nodded quietly and turned on her heel to walk the other way before feeling the need to turn around and hug Chase. "Take care." She whispered before breaking the hug, she nodded at Cassie before walking down the alley way, taking a quick glance at Chase before making her way toward the castle.

Cassie smiled at Eloise and watched her leave before she walked up to Chase. "Tell me you didn't, not in the street," Cassie chided him softly. "Now in a forest, that's a different story" Cassie said, not wanting to seem too hard on Chase. Eloise had seemed like the type of person to lure men into alleyways, but Chase didn't seem like the sort of man who would follow. She left hre thoughts and turned back to Chase. "So do you want to get a drink or do you want to just disappear?" Cassie asked, feeling that maybe Chase just wanted to be alone.

Chase had watched Eloise too, wondering about that hug. He decided maybe she didn't blame him as much as he blamed himself, not that that eased his mind any. He heard Cassie's teasing, but ignored it, his sense of humor obliterated for now. He focused instead on her actual question. "Let's get a drink," he said, turning back to Cassie. His lack of response to anything else she'd said was likely response enough, but at the moment, he didn't care. "You pick a place, I haven't been to Hogsmeade enough to know what's good."

Cassie nodded noticing that Chase didn't rise to her teasing, he obviously wasn't in the mood. "I'm guessing you're not in the mood for busy and lively, so we could go to the Hogshead" Cassie offered, biting her lip. She looked down at her fingernails. "No one will bother us there so you can jsut relax" she added, letting him know what sort of place it was.
