Adara's lips parted with shock that she quickly smothered in compassion. "I'm so sorry to hear that," she said. One slender hand reached out, settling on Ryan's sleeve, an attempt at some form of comfort. Her own eyes were glistening with unshed tears as she shared his pain, respecting him with a moment of silence.

Ryan sighed and wiped his eyes "I have been a wreck for the past few weeks, and this letter" he said holding it up slightly "didnt help at all."

And his girlfriend had left him with no one to talk to? "If you need a friend," she offered, "I need one too." She looked hopefully at Ryan, resisting the urge to chew her lip in nervousness.

Ryan once again gave a half smile "Thank you, i could use a good friend right now."

Adara's smile was wholehearted, her entire face lighting up with delight. Her first real friend! She caught both of Ryan's hands and squeezed them lightly, then paused, unsure what to do next. "You can tell me about your other friend," she tried, "If it will help you."

Ryan shook his head "Not right now, it would make me cry to much to remember the things we have done together." he said sadly as he pulled out a picture from his pocket "This is him though on the right. That was a picture of us when we were 8 years old with our favorite sports player in the middle." he said as he remebered that day.

Adara's lips parted slightly as she leaned to look at the picture, then curved into a smile at the boys. "There is such joy in your eyes," she said. "What a gift to have a friend like that!" She was in almost a state of awe at the emotion she saw in the picture.

Ryan nodded "He was the only close friend that didnt stop talking to me when they found out i was a wizard. I grew up in the muggle world, not knowing what i truly was. My mom is a witch but my dad is a muggle. They finally told me when i was 9 and they allowed me to tell him only. He still stuck with me. As time went on though the rest of my friends started wondering where i was all the time, and then last summer I met a girl that i really liked, and when it came time for me to leave to come back here i convinced my parents to let me tell her. I havent seen or heard from her since the day i told her. After that i was just like i am now, and he helped me through it."

Adara was silent, trying to take in everything he'd said. "He sounds wonderful, Ryan. And you must be a very strong person to have been through so much."

Ryan sighed "Yea i know." he said softly.

[Adara Snow]

Adara smiled again, an almost childlike joy shining in her eyes. "And I'm so lucky to have you as a friend!" she declared.

Ryan smiled "And I am lucky to have you as a friend also."

There was a moment of silence which would have been awkward for someone less at peace with the world. Adara looked out over the stadium, wondering. "Do you play?" she asked at last.

Ryan nodded "Yea, Im chaser and capitain for Hufflepuff." he said smiling some.

Adara smiled again, glad to see that she'd found something that made Ryan happy. "Do you love Quidditch?" she asked. "Is it fun?" She chewed her lip a moment. "I've never been allowed to watch a game," she confessed.
